@@moxyblackfiddler I'm sure we all already know who Hawk Girl is. People are referring to Wonder Woman's wing suit and how badly Egyptian elements were played in WW84.
I know nothing about Scarlet Scarab but the second that constume was on screen I audibly said "That is sick!" like a dang 10 year old. Hats off to whoever designed that. Might be my favourite costume in the whole MCU.
The entire show slowly building up Layla's unpowered capabilities and backstory is how you make the most comic booky power stance feel earned and triumphant.
One of the moon knight producers really did not like the inaccurate depiction of egyptian culture in wonder woman. So it really makes you wonder if this was on purpose.
Now that is a superhero costume, one inspired by Egyptian mythology and culture and it looks functional and form-fitting at the same time! The scarlet wings and her aerial combat technique are reminding me of Falcon, and she had that stance like Wonder Woman! 🙅🏾♀️ Can't wait to see her again in Season 2 and any future crossover events. I'd like to see her team up with Sam, Yelena, Monica Rambeau, Xialing, Doctor Strange, and She-Hulk, that would be an interesting ensemble.
I'm so glad she got all the recognition and praise. Scarlet Scarab is very unknown in the comics and the producers and May Calamawy did a fantastic job on bringing the character to the MCU.
For those who are wondering the reason she has wings is because of the way it represents the Scarab (which has wings) despite the fact that Tawaret is a Hippo At least this was the explanation provided to me when I wondered myself as I watched the episode
Tawaret has a huge scarlet scarab, gold wings out as her chest piece. It’s Moon Knight, not silly pigeon knight, Khonshu’s staff has a stylised crescent moon and it that motif not the pigeon skull which is carried forward, and the costume is foreshadowed by Layla taking the scarab left on the dead Marc. She is the Scarlet Scarab, a gender flip on the comics hero, who fought with the Invaders who in the MCU appears to have been her father
(I could be mistaken about this) I believe, that given the wings appearance, she may have been meant to be Isis's avatar, but they changed it to Tawaret because... It *MAY* not be the best Idea to have a character connected to... You know.
@@goldexperiencerequiem776 They actually did say that they originally intended her to be the avatar of Isis but switched to Tawaret because both Isis and Layla were very serious characters and they thought there'd be a better contrast between Layla and Tawaret.
The main love interest of moon knight in the comics was actually a white blonde girl. But in this show, they thought it would make more sense if she was egyptian, so they created layla, a combination of both her and the original scarlet scarab. She can fight and actually be helpful to marc in a way, instead of just being another MJ. Everything else about her remained exactly the same: from her backstory and relationship with marc, to her father being killed by his partner.
@ 6:48 just want to point out that it looks like the scene in Friday when Ice Cube's character is at his uncle's place sitting on the couch between the uncle and his lady friend lol
Wonderwoman is based on Greek methodology Layla represents ancient Egyptian methodology the originals the OGs 3 to 4 thousand years before ancient Greece. Just because DC came out with a weak golden suit first doesn't mean that WW is the original and Layla is the copy. Layla is our Egyptian superhero and she is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Doesn’t DC own the Superhero/Supervillain “Scarlet Scarab” name from the “Batman: Brave and the Bold” tv series? The episode was “Deep Cover for Batman!” There were villain variants of the heroes? Ie, Blue Bowman for Green Arrow, Silver Cyclone for Red Tornado, Owlman for Batman and Scarlet Scarab for Blue Beetle :3 Or was it just a generic name that was up for grabs?
You talking about Layla or you just saying you want another black female superhero? Layla is arabic, I guess you class them as brown or white passing. Also in the upcoming Captain Marvel 2 movie there will be a black woman hero there. Also Storm if Feige decides to do X-men.
@@MarkSeinIII There is a big change we get to see the X-men sonn, bc I'm pretty sure they play a big part in the mutants story in the comics and right after the Multiverse Saga, it's the Mutant Saga.
This scene was so tacky. I mean... her costume looks silly, remember rolling my eyes when she opened up her wings. I didn't really care for this discount Falcon wannabe. this series was so disappointing.
