There's something so cathartic about Mario, technically the first character in Smash, shaking hands welcoming Sora, the final character in the final act of Smash.

Ultimate did the impossible adding more characters then any other game and adding characters such as Piranha Plant to the roster. So what’s really the point of making a new one which maybe won’t even have half of the amount of characters in this game? And even if it does come out, it’s highly unlikely more characters will come

The Fighter Passes began with a character who steals people's hearts. They ended with a character who saves people's hearts. When the Smash logo burnt out, the World of Smash ended, and all the fighters returned to trophies, established in Brawl as being a state of death and emptiness. Sora sent the Keyblade to the Smash World through that last flickering ember, its power reviving Mario. When Mario saw what the flame was, he knew just what to do, and opened the path to the World of Smash, allowing Sora's light to restore the world and everyone in it. Sora was the Lifelight.

It's symbolic that Mario reaches into the flame and sora comes from that risk. I can't imagine the legal nightmare they had to face damn was it worth it. Probably the most emotional reveal ever.

Beautifully said. That, and the fact that Sora was created because of Mario himself, as KH was initially meant to compete with games like Mario 64 as a platformer. It’s only fitting that Sora was summoned by the character that inspired his creation.

Yeah same, I have never even touched Ultimate, but seeing people getting so hyped and happy is so wholesome. Like you can tell how much it means to them. Sakurai is one of those producers who just does everything right.

I don’t even think Nintendo and Disney have any idea what they have done here. They created a historic event. The joy they brought to so many is in a grand scale. Im not a Kingdom Hearts fan and watching the impact this made in the community has brought me to tears. This is how i felt when i saw Sephiroth added to the game, im very happy for all the Sora fans out there congrats and well done Sakurai!

I imagine Nintendo does, but Disney, who constantly shits and tries to ignore KH exist, they only remember KH exists to screw with the games (KH3 Frozen world is a big example of it), I dont think they even care, they are just in for the money, just another KH money off of something they remember only for money, its their property after all, but I think Nintendo does, after all, Sora won a popularity vote, they knew people wanted him and I am sure seeing all this joy does make them happy just as it did the players.

@@CarlosThadeu There is more truth in what you say. As of the last two years Disney now under a money hoarding pos have raised their prices to ridiculous levels. Took a lot of that magic that made the parks endearing and bastardized them with a pay to play mindset making them now for the wealthy not so much for regular folks Nintendo is on the opposite of that spectrum when it comes to its park. You get waaay more for your buck , that includes rides , food hell even the drinks have a little extra in them but not going to bring ya too the poor house just to enjoy them. Hopefully Disney will wake up ( fingers crossed ).

And addition to that He mentioned that sora was the most wanted character to get in smash from 6 years ago but since it’s Disney, it probably didn’t happen so he chose another highly requested character among the realisable ones from the ballot and bayo ended up being that one at the time. Also correction, Nintendo did the licensing and chose all the DLC for the second fighters pass, sakurai did all the first ones

This is the only Smash Bros character reveal I've seen that has made both grown men and women cry. The Kingdom Hearts series has (no pun intended) touched the hearts of millions and clearly means a lot to them. If there is never another Smash Bros character/game ever again, this was the perfect character to end it with.

KH is so significant. It gets memed on so hard that people on the outside have no reasonable understanding of why the series works. It's been memed on for the same thing since the beginning. The fact that KH works so well is proof to how good the series is. I struggle to find a series as emotionally endearing as it within gaming.

@@yellowcard8100 KH3 not working doesn't share the same problems with the series which I was talking about as a whole. 1 game being off doesn't discount the rest. People are trying to retroactively make the first 3 games bad (some of the best games ever made) and that's not true. Also KH3 does work in some areas outside its storytelling. Each of the games after 2 have wildly different flaws from one another. Its not cut and dry like you're trying to portray it. Every KH game has flaws, it works because it's still going with people invested in the story whether some people think it works or not. The fact that it is continuing is proving it works on some level conceptually still as a whole removed from individual flaws on each title.

@@yellowcard8100 Yeah FIFA still works conceptually because people still support it. Also KH is more complex because there are many things you can enjoy outside of the story. Which I would argue is only really bad in DDD and 3. Which is not a majority of the series. KH fans don't blindly follow the series. Remind actually fixes alot of the problems with 3. Do I still have problems with 3? Yes. It's disingenuous to say the series doesn't work. Is 3 a bad conclusion to a forced saga that wasn't planned? Yes. Doesn't discount the whole series because of that. 3 has some of the best bosses and worlds out of any of the games. And I don't even like 3 as a whole, but it has things to offer. Again it's not something you can objectively point to. So I wouldn't try to frame it that way.

He was also one of the most requested characters for 6 years because he is quite literally illegal nightmare because the franchise is linked to Disney and square enix in collaboration it took them that long in legal disputes to get him.

There's just something so beautiful about it because of what Sora's story is. He was our eyes and ears as kids to experience other worlds in one of the other best crossover games of all time. His journey is one of friendship, love, and heart. For him to come in last to a franchise all about celebrating video games is just so beautifully satisfying and validating to have our love for him accepted by a massively popular gaming community. It's truly magical since it just felt so impossible as a partially Disney character in a Nintendo game. The thing that clued me into how many people cared about Kingdom Hearts to a great degree was the fact that so many people pointed out that Sora came out with his KH1 costume. A game that came out 20 years ago and had sequels and spinoffs. I had zero idea, but they did.

Kingdom hearts was the first game I ever got on ps2 and I remember unwrapping it on Christmas not knowing what the hell it was. 19 years later and I’ve played every game multiple times, and now watching every video I come across slightly related to it. Same here. Not a Super Smash Bros. player even for the Ultimate one. That was until I saw Sakura Miko and Usada Pekora from Hololive (a rabbit hole I have no regrets entering) expressing their excitement and happiness, including Pekora declaring that she wanted to play (stream) Kingdom Hearts (but cannot due to needing to seek permission from Square-Enix and Disney). As a result, I decided to buy Switch and whatever other games they have aside from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Really magical in many ways.

I remember putting Sora's name on the ballot for characters in 4, and I even said to all my buddies that I would drop all mains if Sora was added. And lo and behold! He is the final character and he was released on my birthday! I have been practicing him nonstop and have hardly played anyone else. Coming back to this a few months later still gets me excited, as I was one of the many that's wanted Sora since the early days of Smash. Whether you wanted Sora or not, the fact they were able to get him in is huge, and an absolute banger to end this game ob. From these reactions, it's so obvious how big the franchise is, and how much it means to people. The amount of symbolism too, our first DLC was Joker, a character who steals hearts, and our final one is a character that saves hearts. I find it so hilarious in Murderofbirds' clip how his friend's scream on realizing so soon actually scared him and made him jump for a second, only to realize she would only be losing her mind if it were Sora and then the brain wires self connected lmao
