I bet people are gonna get confused on why "Not for Kids" is in the title despite the video being parts from a kids movie. Here's the reason why. A month ago, a RU-vid bot set my Mr. Potato Head video for kids even though the video is not set for children. I deleted said video after that. I figured putting "Not for Kids" in title might stop a weirdly-managed bot thinking that my videos are for kids. I have the Mr. Potato Head video saved by the way.
Except for the fact that he’s thin enough where some of his ribs can be shown, it heavily implies the whole food angle is just an excuse and he actually kills mostly for the fun of it.
@@firehalfbreed5262 Maybe he's that thin because he runs an entire pack of coyotes combined with the possibility that there isn't enough natural prey to hunt, hence why he tries to kill some of the farm animals instead but fails because of those cows.
Dag is terrifying. The way he talks and acts is what a serial killer acts like. He finds delight in killing others which makes sense why he’s disturbingly skinny because Dag kills for pleasure not for food. Dag calling himself “lady killer” is named after a real life serial killer who called himself lady killer. Dag is also very smart because when his pack attacks Otis or Ben he waits for his enemy to be distracted so he can bite them in leg to weaken them. Despite being scary, evil, and dangerous Dag is a coward because he begs Otis and Ben not to kill him even though he kills for pleasure and finds delight in causing pain. Dag I feel is why I find coyotes a little terrifying. David Koechner did a good job voicing Dag which is ironic since he’s known for being funny instead of evil. Just my opinion since I find Dag underrated and don’t like how critics compare him to Scar.
Yeah, like he has nothing in common with Scar other than the fact that both kill the hero's father, and even that is stretching it since killing off a parent is a classic villain action. Plus, Scar was more like a cunning dictator and high-functioning sociopath who blends in with the average crowd, while Dag is an absolutely insane murderer who probably can't even function on a basic level and is constantly addicted to the thrill he gets from killing.
@@patronsaintofprocrastination Agree. Scar is like a dictator and Dag is like a serial killer. Dag reminds me a bit of Warren T Rat from Am American Tail but I consider Dag worse than him. It’s also not very common where you see a coyote be the main villain, usually it’s a bear, wolf, tiger, rat, or cat as the villain.
Im my opinion Scar was really evil and power hungry Dag is basically doing what he does for his own pleasure and doesn't really care about doing what every other coyote does for their own survival
The fact that Dag is voiced by a dude who is mostly in every comedy movie is just badass as fuck because who knew such a funny guy would voice a character who used to scare the fuck out of me
It's hilarious to me that a silly movie about farm animals also has a much more terrifying and realistic portrayal of a serial killer than many horror movies. His voice, the gruesome state of his appearance, his laugh and how he's so insane that there is simply no way to reason with him... it's just great! The voice actor did an amazing job as well. If this was a live-action performance in a more serious film it would probably be much more widely known and praised.
Honestly I love how Dag helped his pack in taking down the bulls, he wasn’t just a bystander but he was the final strike to every fight they begun. Would have loved to see more of his character, he was an amazing antagonist.
Dag and his pack may be coyotes, but they seem to act pretty savage like how wolves are often depicted as savage killers in some popular media. Wouldn’t be surprised of what would happen if they were instead coywolves.
Dag is probably one of the most intimidating villains I've seen. Honestly, the best kinds of villains are usually the ones that don't yell or scream. This dude is mostly a quiet smooth talker despite how intimidating and wild he is. 😅
''Not For Kids'' That's Actually Pretty Accurate Not Only Because Of RU-vid Putting Any Clip From Animated Media As RU-vid Kids But Also Considering How Much Of A Dark Villain This Guy Is .
I didn’t notice until recently that when Dag sees Ben, he’s actually crapping his nonexistent pants with fear. As a kid, I thought he was just annoyed that Ben showed up and interrupted his monologue, but, now, I realize that he was actually scared of Ben. Makes sense when you consider how Ben pretty much mopped the floor with him and his coyotes, despite dying shortly afterwards. Honestly, David Koechner’s vocal performance as Dag is the best part about Barnyard. He does a great job of making Dag both a terrifying and detestable villain who you want to see get his comeuppance.
He's also scared of Otis too. notice how in both fights with Ben and Otis he waits until the coyotes have them distracted and then he goes in for a attack. As a kid I already knew he was afraid of Otis and ben
@@Thateditguy122 True, though part of this could also be pragmatism on Dag’s part. He knows he’s not big or strong enough to take either cow on in a fair fight, so he doesn’t fight fair. In any case, both Otis and Ben put the fear of the Lord in Dag when they’re through with him.
True, but considering his cowardly nature and the fact that Otis and the barn animals mopped the floor with him and his pack, Dag wouldn’t have much reason to mess with them again.
Even if a lot of people don’t like barnyard I personally love this movie it’s hilarious and there are some nickelodeon movies that aren’t that good like the recent SpongeBob movie
What I find really fascinating about Dag is that he's practically a serial killer in a children's movie. What makes him even more unique is that he literally has no redeeming qualities, nothing sympathetic about him in a film that is otherwise lighthearted. He's a really interesting villain and it still surprises me that this guy is from the Barnyard... except in the end where he's pathetically played as a joke.
3:19-3:21 When he said we slaughter every animal in sight, I wonder if they would also kill the farmer, if the farmer had seen the coyotes he would surely run to his house calling animal control or the hunters to kill them with their rifles?
I was about 4 I think when I first watched this and I must say it surely wasn’t what I expected back then but I am mature now and it isn’t scary anymore
this may be a bit of a hot take but I think they should've toned down Dag's evilness, would've been a far more interesting character had they made him more amoral instead of immoral, like he only kills and eats the chickens for survival sake and he's willing to do anything to feed himself and his crew, it would add more intrigue to his character in lieu of him just being a regular sadist, he is admittedly menacing but his writing is a little generic, I mean he even makes a point that "meaners have to eat too" he's an okay villain but I can't help but picture a more layered kind of antagonist
