I enjoy your videos ,you are bery professional,i am just a biginer,but love clock since I was a little kid. I have the luck of visiting the oldest church clock in america ,located in Comayagua Honduras in the year 1636. Brought from la Alambra spain....still works.

Very watchable. This movement is a very good subject as it contains a plethora of problems, some obvious and some subtle. A good opportunity to explain both the issues and your skills of diagnosis.

@@readrepairs This is what being a full time student must be like. Time to look at clocks in detail and thinking about the options. I nearly applied to do the full time course at West Dean but in the end lacked the courage.

Thanks for your comment! Funnily that is exactly the thing I am after. I have been looking for one for some months now. The ones I have seen have either been re-finished or out of my price range. I saw one a couple of months ago that was perfect but I was the under-bidder so I will keep looking! Thanks again, Matthew.

This is an excellent video, except I heard you say third wheel.. now I am confused. I have a triple fusee bracket clock from the 1820s, and this will greatly help me when I finally decide to take it apart and clean it. It pretty much runs perfectly fine except the strike/silence does not work. That will be the first thing I will work on. Too bad the clock in the video does not have the strike/silence.

I'm very excited about seeing more of your work. About a year ago I seen your verge pocket watch video.. I said to myself only one video? I need more 🤣 Also I really appreciated your chat at the end of the video about the repair revolution. I've started a channel of my own all about repairing all sorts of things. Just to get the ball rolling, people need to know. "hey you can fix this" instead of sending it to the scraps bin. Anyway cheers from Canada 🍻 Keep up the good work

18:11 Oops! Almost removed the screw with your fingers. Jk😊 I love your channel. I noticed you go out of your way to grab the tweezers to manipulate something instead of using your fingers. Is that fundamental?

Yes. Tweezers add focus and ‘accuracy’ to work. Obvs there reaches a point where components are too large.

Dear Matthew thank You for so nice video. Can I ask your advice on very same movement? Posibly it can help to repair your movement in right way also. I see You miss one part on strike side thats why spring on left side that pushes "start quarter chime" lever so bent and ugly. I was trying to put link on nawcc forum, but probably this violates youtube rules.

Yes, the first spring that bent in a strange way over the counting rack limiter pin. I think there is some absent parts near the end of this spring, You can see couple of free holes there. I think there should be specific limiter for this spring. I have drawen some picture but I don't know how to share this here. I have really very similar movement. Made by Thomas Best however, probably yours made also by him.
