I found my way here from the other hosts of Fierce Reads! Like you, I'm also doing Middle-Grade March, but I'll try to work the Fierce Reads prompts into my choices, too! Maya Angelou is the perfect choice as a fierce woman author! Loved I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and really want to read more from her. My son reads a lot of fantasy and LOVES the Mistborn series. Crying in H Mart was great. The first middle-grade book I just started (on audio) is Butterfly Yellow by Thanhha Lai. I chose it for the female author, but I'm finding out that the teen female main character is very fierce! Maybe she would work for your up-and-coming female author (she's new to me) - the audio is excellent so far. Firefly Lane was wonderful - made me sob out loud! (maybe not the best for driving - ha ha). I read it many years ago, too. Looking forward to some great reads in March!
@@EntertheBook Just a heads up - I had it wrong - Butterfly Yellow is actually YA, not middle-grade! But it is outstanding, and the main character is definitely a fierce woman!
I'm going to try. But when you mentioned MGM, I'm thinking yeah I can do this. I have another one, so that will be 3 readathons for March, 😂. I'll have to get the other readathons date, it hasn't been announced yet, other than it's in March. Don't have Discord though. But this still has my interest!
