It was so nice to see some less popular books or one that have so much controversy around. Always love to hear your thoughts, and now I would love to read “A little devil in America”. I would be a criminal if I didn’t mention that the paining you made is stunning and I hope that Daniel loved it ❤ Did you ever go to any art class or it was your side hobby? Love to know❤

This is such a fun video idea! LOVED Open Throat, and I totally agree, I'm surprised it's not more popular just because of how weird it is; I really hope it finds its audience. One of my favorite underrated books from last year was The Unfortunates by JK Chukwu. It feels criminal how few people have read it. It's about a queer Black woman in academia that explores racism in that space as well as mental health. It's very funny yet also quite heavy at times and has a fun mixed media element. Highly recommend!

I listened to the audiobook of Open Throat and didn’t notice the word plays at all because of that, how interesting! I found it really funny and gave it 4 stars but I feel like I would have had such a different reading experience with it if I’d have read the physical book now that you’ve pointed that out😲 I’m now sat here wondering how many other books have been similar and I’ve been oblivious🤯😂

I just had a similar experience with a different book that I read on audio and then realized the physical book had some fun elements that I missed out on!

it is such a struggle nowadays to find books to read where you're not being influenced by seeing people talk about it - this video was really eye opening to how easy it can be to miss absolute gems. i think my "underdiscovered gems" recommendations are both horror funnily enough - 'White Smoke' by Tiffany D. Jackson (it had some of the scariest moments I've read in a long time) and 'The Stars Did Wander Darkling' by Colin Meloy (MAJOR Stranger Things vibes, really good pace and i couldn't put it down)
