@Jon-qf6qg also keep an eye out on the ones that fabricate their entire lives. No point in spending 6 years with a liar if there's no truth to them at all
I don’t believe him very well when you call him out for lying about being the railroad leader. Desdemona just kinda seems to be there. I think deacon was lying about lying
I remember when he said he was a synth, I was like “oh, then he’ll be fine going into the glowing sea naked” and that’s how I went down to go visit virgil.
@throg4657 And that's why Deacon shouldn't have told us he was a synth. We thought he was radiation immune like a robot, but he gets super cancer, with a side of more cancer, because he was dishonest.
That mod is amazing. Just getting to start the quest was an insane trip and fights with the settlements I had were also crazy. Got good at using the flaregun since the blackouts made it so dim that I could only see a few yards with a flashlight
Which sucks because once he gives you the code you need to read it back to him immediately or for as long as you don’t he will continue to ask you about the freaking code without moving forward in the game
*go to Diamond City and read the recall code to Takahashi* *Takahashi recognizes the code as "go hostile" and starts flinging noodles and hot oil at everyone*
@@UraniumFever76Bit fascinating he knows the “Androids” recall code which was known only by a certain vault dweller, the institute director, the synth of the institute director, and his bodyguard. Or how Dr Li mentions working on said water purification project with Father where he was exposed to high levels of radiation. Or how Deacon mentions he came to the Commonwealth following a rumor someone he thought had died, had survived.
@@UraniumFever76Yes cause the Broken Steel DLC is cannon, the Prydwen gets built in that DLC. The Lone Wanderer also gets resurrected 2 weeks after his "death". It is most likely what he is referencing.
This is like this because the whole entirety of the Railroad, and their stories are modeled after real life spies and stories. They were attacked by the Institute so they had to adopt a new strategy and quick otherwise they would go the way of the Dodo, with Darwin laughing while he is narrating. To borrow a famous quote(from Churchill), they had to become a mystery, inside a riddle, wrapped in an enigma.
He's not a synth but rather a ghoul under a human skin and he is a sole survivor of a vault dweller with traumatic backgrounds and the lore can be found in the Fallout 3 or New Vegas.
first playthrough i got super invested into the whole companion relationship thing, and when deacon takes you for a ride like that i got so mad at him lol
I actually really like the idea that he is the Lone Wanderer form fallout 3 based of just how much he talks about DC and if he's hunted by a major faction (like lets say BOS since they just don't mention their existence or help at all in DC) it makes sense to me about how paranoid he is about snipers because maybe he saw a BOS member snipe Sarah Lyons hence his "Dont trust anyone" because that group he trusted the most betrayed him and maybe even tried to kill him once (there are probably a lot of evidence to say otherwise to that theory but still) Edit: The long wanderer would also have known about the institute and the railroad. If he helped the railroad before, he def would have an IN for the railroad faction.
When he does finally come clean it is quite a revelation, and he is obviously not lying. And there's also evidence that his lie about being the true creator of the railroad, is actually not a lie.
How did he know someone was ever going to leave that vault? He could've sat there for years just to waste away his time! It's like he was expecting you to come out on that day.
Got a mod that makes me think Deacon was stalking me after Vault 111... it adds new locations and one of them is a trailer called "D's lookout" Modder even added a lore-friendly note.
The spy archetype is cool in theory & only really works in rare occasions like 007 where he’s an absolute badass. Deacon fails the spy quota pretty hard, lies constantly even if you get to romance him & you learn precisely nothing from his character. For me, deacon will always be there to catch the mini-nuke I launch at him & his friends at the church
Finding out Deacon doesn't know if he's a synth and doesn't really care either way made him one of my favorite companions. He almost makes the Railroad seem like a fleshed out faction.
My first playthrough i didn't open it until well after the game ended, and I said "well it can't hurt the storyline now" and pulled it out. Yeah.... I felt a bit dumb.
Here's a theory: The Institute created the railroad on purpose. Synths are robots coated in artificial flesh often in design of someone for infiltration purposes, so what if these codes went beyond infiltration. One possibility is there are Rogue actors in the institute using synth too create rebel movements that would fracture leadership of the institution. A silent power struggle. Another idea is synths in promotion of a freedom fighter movement are gather the most violent of institutional enemies, and so are systematically eliminated. My only real evidence is the synths themselves like Valentine & Duncan because they never break character meaning they're running their scripts. Valentine could even be solving cases that fit well for Institution objectives. Wish f4 delved deeper into this shadow government idea.
I wanna know if he knew that main character was a synth and what you remembered from the Vault happened but what you saw wasn’t all that happened. Your a synth as well why do you think you were able to use VATS in the Vault before you took the pipboy off the skeleton. Most people aren’t really readers but you can find the information on a terminal inside the institute.
Deacons most interesting qualities are overshadowed by bad writing and clumsy handling of a sensitive topic. A dude that goes above and beyond to be the ultimate spy for the Railroad, has no problem with allowing someone who openly aligns with the Institute in front of him, his leadership and many notable members. He turns the very thing he’s clearly all in for into a joke and it hurts his character. You can always have a light hearted approach to life, but if Deacon won’t fight for his ideals when he obviously should, then yeah, he’s not a good character, he’s just a companion with quirks and nothing below surface level.
Dishonest as a core character trait and yet is the most likeable faction companion in the game. Guess they needed to give the railroad some redeeming qualities to give their questline an incentive.
Shame i can't believe in the possibility a Synth could actually be human. Yeah I like Nick Valentine but his situation is a twist of fate caused by a group of psychos who kidnap mostly innocent people and replace them with cheap imitations of the real thing and honestly I hate the railroad.
Deacon is my least Favorite companion, and just another reason why the railroad is my least favorite faction. The fact that if you fail in the railroads mission they're leader basically says welp guess you have to side with the minutemen is wild.
I’ve never liked deacon. He’s a lying stalker. Those aren’t traits that are okay. He’s borderline sociopathic. He needs a therapist not to be freeing toasters with the railroad
Deacon is a synth. That is why he knows where to find you. You dont think you were the first to have those memories, do you? You might not even be the tenth synth to exit vault 111. Experiments dont just happen once, and Shawn is a monster.
