Eight years ago when I decided I was going to learn software development and quit my dead-end job, it was because I was inspired by what I was reading and watching at the time.
This material, these people, were telling me I needed to spend a small percentage of my income regularly on learning.
So I did. And I started reading. And the rest is history.
Watch the video for the info...
And comment below and let me know your TOP 5 BOOKS of all time!
*Though not sponsored, thanks Shortform for providing the 5 day, 20% off coupon for my audience. Link above.

I'm fairly new to reading but it's definitely something I want to invest more time into. Got myself a kindle which was worth 100% of the price. Figured out I don't need a subscription as I can easily upload books using my laptop or kindle app on my phone. I'm definitely guilty of feeling the obligation to finish the entire book, your tip helped me see it differently. Might explore the idea of taking notes, but I gotta figure out the whole "obsidian" thing first. My reading list is growing slowly, and I'm adding some quality stuff there, I just need to focus on actually reading :)

My top 3 books, all of which I have read multiple times in full length and each of which are incredibly inspiring in their own way. I wouldn‘t recommend short form of these. It takes the whole book to actually get the message in my opinion. - The comfort crisis by Michael Easter. This is my favorite book ever. Fun to read and super motivating to work on yourself. If you are looking for motivation and a guide to finally put your phone aside and deal with yourself, your mental and physical health. - How to win friends by Dale Carnegie. An old book that is still valid today. It makes you question your behavior towards other people and shows how far you can get with simply being kind - How to get things done by David Allen. A concept to finally clear up your head, bring structure into all the little tasks of life that subconsciously stress you. I can highly recommend all of these books. They have changed my life and have made a big contribution to my professional success and mental health. Hopefully they will help someone else too.

I vividly remember being on watch as a 20-something in the Navy and reading "First Things First" while sitting on a tug in the hangar at 2 a.m. It's been an anchor for me. This year, Essentialism by Greg McKeown has been my theme. My other top three: Think and Grow Rich (this is more about focus than being money-rich) What Technology Wants Cryptonomicon (Had to throw a fiction in here)

On the other hand, what kind of camera do you use to record your videos? Best Regards!

1. The Magic of Recluce by L. E. Modesitt Jr. -- you need to read the whole series. 2. Tuesday's With Morrie by Mitch Albom -- and anything else he has written. 3. State Of Fear by Michael Crichton -- entertaining and maybe educational. 4. Memory Man by David Baldacci -- main character is named Decker. 5. The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry -- Cotton Malone series.

Good tips. But "blindly trust your doctor" is a strange perspective. You have a robust health team you can talk to if your primary doesn't have the specializations you need. But professionals are professionals for a reason. You can't be good at everything. Most of us can't spend 8 years studying medicine on top of other proficiencies.

why does it have to be books and not podcasts, youtube videos, etc? are the same ideas never shared there? and before you say YT is trash, we’re all here on this guy’s youtube video. is his message not it? i’d take books with just as big a grain of salt as any content medium.

Those are good sources too and ones that I also learn a lot from. I'm not comparing them. Though I will say, given the timespan of books, that probably 80% of modern media just repeats what books have always said in some way.
