I have been reading 'The Word for World is Forest' by Ursula K. Le Guin for a literature course. The book is quite interesting so far. It's about humans in the future who colonize a planet to cut down all the trees for wood but there are these creatures in the forests who need the trees to live and such
I also bought House of Hollow this month - I'm jus trying to find some sapphic books that work for me and this one sounds promising. Listening to everone rave about migrations make wonder if the German translation was just Not It... I was so disinterested in the past timeline and everything surrounding her husband; I was just not expecting that to be that such a big part of the story when I wanted more context of this near future (dystopia?) they were living in. I was into the more visually focused passages and the atmosphere she created was great when it was there but it did not convince me.
I actually choke on my coffe as you said, that you have to pay hundreds of dollars for your PhD applications?! Like, how- what-?! I'm sorry, but my European ass got confused for a moment. To pay money to apply for a programm, that you might not even get in to, is beyond me. Fr like wtf y'all 😭🤣
Yup the cheapest I've done was $150, the most expensive was $400 🙃 this country is run on the money of desperate people just trying to do what they want with their lives or just trying to make a living
