They trained us to fight together en masse against the forces against democracy through this very game, and expected us not to do so to them. I really hate to put a negative review on this amazing game, but until it is changed it will stay there.
Negative review up, game uninstalled. They have until june 4th to make things right. If they don't, I'll get a refund ( banning players from games because of third party accounts are a big no no for Steam ). I had my fun with about 100 hours, and it will have been free in the end.
@@seamon9732 Sony is to be blamed. The devs aka arrowhead has said that they didn't plan nor push for this "security" update. Sony pushed for it and if you read the announcement on steam... it is only signed by Sony also.
Its not a far fetched. The Helldivers 2 EULA doesnt state a need for the PSN account. Before May 3rd, on Sony's own store for the game in the FAQ it was labeled as option. Before May 3rd, even on steam, the linking was also labeled as optional. They turned an optional requirement into a forced requirement knowing full well no one could get a refund. This is Sony scrambling to play a numbers game with their Q4 earnings only a few days away. They really dont need those PSN+ numbers to give them a black eye after Stellar Blade fiasco. If anything this teaches a lot of studios that Publishers are a major liability, not a net of safety.
@tens10s96 Wasn't a requirement in the EULA, of which j have a copy of it. Wasn't a requirement in Sony pc games FAQ (then they changed it yesterday). For the past three months we could play without linking one and now it's mandatory. Go lick that corpo boot some more
If you took 30 seconds to read the post, it it signed by only Sony. The discord if you are in it has community managers and devs commenting that they didn't push for this but Sony did. They didn't even have this planned, but Sony decided to do it to increase "security" when in reality they saw it as a way to get people on their platform. Sony once again being idiots.

I’m expecting Steam to silence the bad reviews on the grounds of review bombing soon. Even though the bad reviews are warranted since a bad change is being made and is going to ruin the game for a lot of people.
The baltic (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) nations are in the EU. Which means they have EU consumer protections. The baltic nations are also on the list of countries that can't make a PSN account. Sony is about to find out.
I have a few theories why they did this change. Firstly: Sony wants to artificially inflate PSN accounts for their next shareholders meeting. Secondly: they wanna make a slow transition towards a PS pc launcher, starting with Helldivers. Thirdly(and the most simple): they just wanna collect some sweet data (which you do by killing off a chunk of the player base being pretty dumb)
They're gonna wait until a few days after people need to make accounts then undo it, so that everyone can still play the game but they force some people to make accounts

They did it so they can brag to shareholders at the next quarterly conference call about how many new PSN accounts were created in the past quarter. No more, no less. Sony doesn't have any experience with PC online communities, so they're about to get a harsh reality check. The only question now is will Gaben do the right thing and allow people to refund. Even just selling the game to people who they knew in the future would not be able to access it due to not being able to make PSN accounts in their country warrants a class action lawsuit and a mass fraud investigation.

I also can't find any announcement that they were changing the requirements to 'optional' to fix a tech issue like they claimed in the recent announcement. Which, worst case scenario if they roll back this change, they break the game all over again and make it unplayable regardless of your account status. That is the very definition of a defective product and frankly REQUIRES a refund regardless of TOS, EULA, or any other legalese you can come up with.
@@Lazare7782if they knew that access was to be taken away, why sell the game in any country that can’t have psn. Steam delisting the game shows that they could of restricted the game even without psn, but they didn’t. Either they intended to rip some of playerbase off or their incomponent to not have anticipated this problem when psn failed at launch.

I have 250 hours in the game, I haven't left a negative review yet, but I've stopped playing. I won't create an account on PSN, so my days in the game are numbered. There is already a decline in interest in the game on Steam, so it probably won't make it to the end of the year. It's a pity because it's a very good game.
250 hours is an insane amount of time of playing mate. Sounds good that you are stopping. Hope you can find another hobby, like going to the gym, or learning a useful skill.

If you go look at sites to see previous states of pages, you'll see that on March 29th they changed the FAQs of Play Station on PC from "optional for all games" to "mandatory in some games on PC" and are trying to push the idea that it has always been this way. HD2 was released Feb 8th.

i live in the EU, because we can skip it at the beginning would imply that it is fully optional and not required to play, because we are now forced to add an account our access to denied and or limited, we are forced to acept a 3th party between a 2 party contract (steam and the devs vs me) because people do not consent to that we SHOULD have the right for a refund, on top of that arrowhead CLAIMS the 3th party was alwase there, but there is no way of verifying that. AND when you buy the license you get an inbox stating yes you bought it, but you do NOT get a copy of the terms of services you agreed to which can be a big problem for steam

If you're from the UK you have access to PSN, but you have to give a facial scan or government issued identification in order to create an account. So that you can continue to play a game you've already purchased.... lol, lmao even.
People saying don't blame Arrowhead, they shook that devil's hand (Sony) and agreed to their demands. They could have negotiated it so that PSN accounts weren't required but they didn't. Maybe the rank and file devs are not at fault but the CEO is responsible for this.

The creator also explained that he is fine with the negative reviews as we are allowed to do so but he wants to make it clear that Sony is pushing for this and they are trying to fix things between both their teams.

I just feel SO sorry for the devs. I was hoping to gift HD2 to a friend but due to this shitty situation... I don't think I'll be doing that... If Sony acted like Coffee Stain did with Ghost Ship Games, we would ALL be fine! But no! Sony had to mess everything up and turn Helldivers just into Hell!
i like the game and im kinda mixed on the psn situation, but some real criticism people like to barrade me for having is the economy of the game sucks. you need hundreds and thousands of medals and super credits to unlock stuff, but to collect supercredits you can either pay in your 60 dollar game to get more content your entitled to, or you can go out of your way to find literal unmarked holes in the ground to have a CHANCE to get 1/100 of a warbond. and for medals you can play for HOURS on helldive, and get like 40 medals when that cool gun you wants like 82
Sony wants to pump its numbers as Helldivers 2 have more players on PC then PS and they mad about it so they are forcing us to have PSN account in order to please the investors? Can someone check this further if Helldivers 1 needs or does not need PSN account as I do not wish to give more money to Sony or Arrowhead and test it myself.
As of now the reviews sit at RECENT REVIEWS: Overwhelmingly Negative (198,288) ALL REVIEWS: Mixed (481,599). I don't play the game and even I think this is a cack situation.
Before this PSN thing, I was thinking of spending money to unlock the upcoming warbond. After the PSN thing, I don't really want to play any more. Why Sony? Just why? Fucking public companies barely care about their long term profits, only profits for shareholders who are trying to make a quick buck from flipping stocks.
Yeah I don't believe the "better security" claim by Sony. Or that it was "Planned from the start". If it really WAS planned from the start, it wouldn't have been sold in unsupported areas in the first place. They just wanted their data and money, and most of all... Attention. Made it a popular game, then was all "Ooo let's get most of the players into our PSN" Sure I live in an area that supports PSN, but I refuse to make one until I get a Playstation to make the most of it... Which because of this... Not going to buy one.
Man this was fun to see, since its launch it had good review, only 2 days and now its reversed. 2 years ago i tried to create psn account just to see if i can participate in ps3 cloud system to play some game and it was not available in my region understandable which is same for xcloud of xbox not only cloud but i cannot even create psn account and i live in india. really shocking how more than 50% of the world has no psn support.
There's a laundry list of reasons why making a PSN account is a bad idea and Sony have proven themselves multiple times to be incompetent when its comes to cybersecurity such as employee mistakes, state sponsored actors, technical deficiencies and poor affected employee and consumer communication to name a few. Sony shares a spot on the data breach list with the likes of Target and Experian. It's also important to remember that no cybersecurity setup is fool proof. If someone wants in, they will get in. Cybersecurity, at least at current technology levels, is about delaying the inevitable as long as possible and mitigating the damage that occurs when it does eventually happen. The fact that Sony has had so many different breaches in such a short time is frankly concerning. I would imagine the "millions of new PSN users" would only make them more prime a target given their track record. The community response to this is fully justified in my opinion.
No man, if it was their intention from the start, they should also limit the steam release to those country who can actually create psn account. Steam can also restrict on which region they release the game, The fact that they didn't made all their argument crumbles.
FAQ's on PSN web site last week before May 3rd said You do not have to create or have a PSN account to play any game on Steam not exact qoute LOL but after May 3rd They changed it to Some games may require it. That's this month they change it, it wasn't always there and honestly people buy games when they are said to be fun and not to read fine print. They failed to make it obvious if it was on the Steam page, but on PSN website they said No Game required a PSN account then switched to Some Games... that's bait and switch to me
btw the Philippines IS on a list of countries that CAN make an account but for some reason, you cant so even Sony doesnt know their own policies 🤦♂🤦♂

I think Sony Playstation should have exclusive content (missions, cosmetics, war bonds, trophies, weapons, e.t.c) for players with PSN accounts. What's the big deal?! PC players do it for: EPIC games, Ubisoft games, microsoft PC games pass, e.t.c. Why are they acting like this is the first time they're doing this.
IF im forsed to spend 1-3 minuites to make a side party account to play a game i unable to play anymore that was onesidedly decided i'd rather spend this 1-3 minutes to request my money back and spend them to buy another game who's developers actually have a brain in their scull to not make me go through extra hastle to play their game. Gladly steam unlike other platforms always sides with a consumers if a situation like this one appears. Enjoyed while it lasted.
there is another problem, and that is that sony's TOS wich you become subject to once you use a PSN account, is absolutely terrible and would allow them to ban you for pretty much whatever reason they like. the reason they have difficulty banning now is because they have to do it through steam wich has a far more reasonable term of service. so they want to push ideological control too
I don’t think this was premeditated. Iirc there were issues with the PSN system at launch along with all the various other crashes and such. So they made it optional so the game could sell without issue. Giving Sony credit for that kind of foresight (which they couldn’t have had as AH themselves was not expecting this kind of turn out) grossly underestimates their stupidity and shortsightedness as a company. Like a fish with a handful brain cells, they saw a shiny opportunity and they took it without thinking of the potential consequences because Sony executives (like most AAA publishers) have the business strategy sense of a toddler
They want to bloat their PSN number for their portfolio. What I don't get is, instead making it a requirement, why dont they just get a little mobile-game esque. Just make some daily login reward for linking the account. I bet a considerable amount of player wouldn't bat an eye and just create one.
They're doing this to appease their stockholders and also to grab all of the valuable information that they can accumulate from the number of steam players. I have 200 hours of gameplay and haven't run into a single person I had to block. These explanations they give are bulshit
That's the idea, if they want positive reviews back they make PSN optional. If not, then Arrowhead just learned a very painful lesson about doing business with Sony.
The process to establish a new account in some countries requires a facial scan, or your identity card. Both are biometric gold mines, and data that can be sold. Secondly the new account looks like “new long term users” inflating the corporate value for the share market. It only just occurred to me that by entering into contract with Arrowhead: Sony by selling the new account info and inflation of stock price will have derived much greater value ($) than they ever underwrote Arrowhead studios. Furthermore I’d wager Arrowhead studios still owe the value of the loan back to Sony as well. And knowing this, Sony couldn’t give a rats ass if the player base tanks or another game is sold because it doesn’t matter. Even if they had negotiated a percentage based on total units sold, this value would be negligible compared to the value of the user data.

Also, what happens if the PSN goes down again? Will you not be able to play? Back in 2011, the PlayStation network was down for 23 days. Of course, that was exactly when I bought a PS3 so I could game with my friends. Instead, it just sat there collecting dust for 3 weeks.
I think it is much more petty. Sony is mad about the backlash for Stellar Blade and decided to punish gamers by injecting their poisonous debauchery into a breakout success the fans love. Sony have made it clear that this is to censor players if you read the Sony release. That is the core of the problem.
5:24 Bullshit. Of course its the fault of Arrowhead as well. They went into business with Sony which means there was a point in time where they had to hash out the contract with Sony which included these terms. They were free to refuse to such terms, but they agreed to them. They also had every opportunity to ensure that at the very least, this was very obvious to their customers at the point of sale when the game was released. And they failed to do that, relying instead of the standard side bar badges Steam has that are very easily missed by customers.

Its the same reason microsoft bought minecraft as an example, it gave them access to a massive user footprint. 4:44 yea bugs have been an issue from the start (snigger...bugs...) Funny how a game about spreading democracy had its publishers do something QUITE communist I got a 162 hours in the game and yea Im angry mainly because they added this now and never warned people in a clear manner it was going to happen. Im PC, never owned a console and never needed a sony account, so why now. Just total corp greed. Arrowhead MANAGEMENT are to blame a little also (But to a smaller degree) because they knew this was going to happen but with the success of the game they forgot to warn us at purchase time (i.e. they should have given us notification in game that in a few months this would have happened)
VPN use to make a PSN account is a auto banned (so all those fellow helldivers are RIP who cant make a legal PSN). i might consider putting in my refund. i cant helldive its against my moral code at this point. When my fellow Helldivers are put on the Plank by Sony to be trown in the digital net where sharks roam to eat them.
