In this video, I read and discuss two poems by William Blake: "The Tyger" and "The Lamb." I explain how both creatures may be used to represent two different aspects of God's nature.
God is terrifying.
"The Lord thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded amid the hail and burning coals. He shot his arrows and scattered his enemies; great bolts of lightning flashed, and they were confused. Then at your command, O Lord, at the blast of your breath, the bottom of the sea could be seen, and the foundations of the earth were laid bare." Psalms 18:13-15.
Christ is the Lamb.
"The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, 'Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!'" John 1:29.
The Lamb is Triumphant.
These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful.” Revelation 17:14.
