So there is a major update on the NEIGHBOUR DRAMA that happened this morning but this vlog had already been edited and uploaded, so I’ll be giving an update in an upcoming vlog for “reading books you think I’ll give 5 stars”. Let’s just say that I might be getting involved 👀
Forgive my American shock my friend....gonna make a day trip to go an hour away?? I laugh because it takes almost an hour to get from one side of my city to the other just to go shop...also love you lots!! Mwah 😘
I love how you talk about libraries! They're so great!! You should be able to go on to the library online catalogue at the library and, if you find a book you want from a different library, you should be able to order it FROM your local library and have it sent to your library. I hope that makes sense. That way you don't have to go an hour away. 💗
I have made a personal challenge to visit as many libraries within a 30 minute commuting distance as I can that is covered by my library card. The smaller libraries have limited opening hours and there are 50 libraries in my county! It's great to browse and borrow lots and then return the books at my local library. Each library has it's own vibe and i'm enjoying exploring different communities where the libraries are too.
Ahh so happy to see you loved boys in the valley! I also love your editing in the library bit where you synced it to the music. So well done! Book Beat only going up to 2x speed frustrates me even though I usually am at 2x speed anyway. But sometimes the narrators speak so slowly that I am happy at 2.25x. That is a very cool cover for something to build a nest in!
Gavin as someone who lives in the bible belt in the USA, I'd die to have the small willy library you have haha. Half our shelves are empty, they're literally banned from having rainbows on display on the corkboards... even if its not pride related... and 50% of the books are Christian Romance novels with 0 queer lit. I solely survive off my library's hoopla online rentals because theres nothing here :(
@@amandadorner Yes I love Libby too! The selection is still not large but between them both I've been able to get a good chunk of the books/audiobooks I want! They actually have queer lit on those apps so I'm so grateful that hasn't been censored
@JoJo-je6kq I'm glad you have Libby too! I agree, they have a great selection of queer books and authors on there. You can also get digital library cards to big library systems, even from a different state (the New York public library, for example). They have lots of great resources! Hang in there❤️❤️
I've started using my local library because of your library series! I'm moving house soon and will go from a small willy to a biggun soon! Can't wait 😉
I totally understand you on missing your old library my mom loved going to the public library it was close to her job unfortunately the building was sold and the place closed so she had to go to a different one far from her job it's so small
absolutely loved the last Vlog for Summerween!! i managed all 5 books for Summerween. you should try Wild Spaces by S.L. Coney - its a weird horror - kinda lovecraftian but also isn't. Anyway, love that you can mix your libraries. and CANNOT wait for the next NeighbourDrama. Also that they leave 2 dogs alone all this time is baffling me. how is that even legal.
My family: Why do you watch Gavin?!?! Me: I get it all books, laughter, and a travel list to go whenever I make it to the UK, drama, and animals! Dont judge me... 😂
I was about to suggest reserving before editing Gavin came on - thought I'd still comment for the engagement 🤩 totally get wanting to browse rather than faff around with reserving and not knowing how soon you'd even get a book after reserving it.
Thought it'd be days 5-6, happy there's another day included, loved summerween and it's first time I've watched something like this challenge (?) thanks gav
AHHHH LIBRARY TOUR!!!! I love going to my local library and my college town library which has a cafe inside (thankfully I live close enough to still go post-graduating)!!! Interlibrary loan is my best friend but I adore browsing libraries and finding what I want in real time 👏🏻 I think it's so cool you have a manga channel!!! I've love Spy x Family and Yona of the Dawn!
You have no idea how happy hearing your final thoughts on Boys in the Valley made me!!! I have been so nervous all week! I am so glad you loved it. The atmosphere was everything-- how remote, cold and desperate it felt. Absolutely adore that one. It got sort of Battle Royale in that one balls to the wall crazy church scene 😂
SKELETON MAN! That was one of the books that got me into reading as a kid!!! I've never seen anyone else mention it, so i love that you enjoyed it. Also, Im gonna need to read Everytime I Go On Vacation Someone Dies, its sounds hilarious! Cant wait for your next videos and to learn more about the Drama lol
I love Catherine Cookson . Favourites are the 'Tilly Trotter' trilogy and 'The Gambling Man. Cant decide if they will be your thing or not but im glad you are giving them a go! Your local library looks great by the way.
Just a suggestion for checking dates if you don't find it in the book itself: See if your local libarary has a website which you can sign in with your library card. Since it's connected to the centeral one, I'm wondering if it's like boward's Libaraies where they're all interconnected and you can reserve books from one and have it come to another. The website also helps with browsing through books as well as just ideas what may be there and whatnot (and tell you what genres they could be under other than the main) I see more of a resorce than a one and done deal. (I still roam the libarary even when I'm going there mostly to pick one one book that I have on hold. It's how I found out that my Pompano one has the Crane Husband which I have on my TBR.) Btw, The Crane Husband is an really short horror Novella so if you're still looking for a short horror just to get a vibe even after summerween there's that.
I managed to finish 3 books for Summerween. My first time participating was so much fun! Now I’m on the edge of my seat to hear the rest of the neighbour drama!
This new library of yours is probably gunna change very quickly now that you've moved there. They'll see your check outs and requests, and think "ooft we better step up" 😂
6:53 you should be able to request/reserve books to pick up at your local library from other libraries (I have the app for my library but I can also use their website) as this is what I do but I live in the South West so maybe it’s different here 😊
My summerween was so-so, I think I'll get to the final prompt by midnight or at least start that book, but I didn't read as much as I'd hoped. It's my first year doing it though so still a win!! ❤
I start work at 3 in the morning, and it’s been pissing down for a week. My bike is at the bike doctors, so I have to walk for 30 minutes. As long as you “dress for the occasion” it’s actually fine ;)
My local library has a system called Spydus, that you can look through and then if you find a book you like the look of, you can reserve it online and they will send it to your requested library. Hope that helps😊
I'd love to know where you found those CC books! Honestly all my local charity shops never have them in. Only one I found with a great selection of them was the Bernados in Whitley Bay. Bloody love a Kathy C book they're like my little guilty pleasures 😂❤
I’ve never read Catherine Cookson but my grandmother loved her books and I’ve read some other books my gran loved and she did read some great books, I would definitely be interested to see if you like her books. Ash and Tobu look so content and I love them so much 🥺😫😻
