bridgerton is one of the only cases where the show is better than the books. they did my girl Eloise dirty. 😠also, let's hope Benedict doesn't become like his book counterpart, or else I'm fighting someone, because he's precious in the show. ♥
he's got no personality in his book except for wanting to make sophie his mistress so probably not 😭 they kinda transfered the good side of colin's book personality to him
in an interview the writers said they went out of order for benedict cuz they felt like he was protrayed as a 'wild, care-free soul always looking for adventure' so they want to perserve that personality and give him the time and a believable time span for his character growth and readiness to settle down! don't know if they'll postpone it for another season or not yet tho
like it didn't quite suit his story in the show to get married when he's still talking about art school or his next adventure, so they want him to have his side quest adventures during the other siblings seasons and then get married basically lol
who else is here after finishing S3 Part 1? 😂 I definitely agree with Francescas book, using the societal rules of the time against a person is really nothing to be romanticised. I have read the Bridgerton books kinda out of order, I really liked Anthony's book but didn't finish Eloise's or Hyacinth's and have yet to read Gregory's. After what you reported I'm excited for the last book tho, might read it in a Bridgerton show hangover. I also wonder what the show is going to do about Hyacinth and Gregory, I wouldn't mind a recast later on because I kinda feels weird to see them grow up and then watch steamy scenes with them? But maybe they execute it in a good way that I can't think of right now. I'm certainly excited to see where they are going with Eloise and Francesca and Violet as well! After the Queen Charlotte spin-off I would love to see a second love interest for Violet or at least some butterflies.
I love the actress who plays Hyacinth and I hope they don’t recast her if she’s old enough when we arrive to her season, but I wouldn’t mind for Gregory
My headcanon is that show Eloise is queer and hasn’t realized it yet. My hope is that they ditch her book’s romance entirely and included Marina/Sir Phillip in season 1 as a nod to that, and instead for her season they give her a beautiful sapphic suffragette romance. ♥️ (Please join me in manifesting this, lol)
definitely agree with women and comprising positions in this series. imo her other books in the bridgerverse aren’t as bad with consent there’s a couple??? of the stories maybe even just one in the smythe-smith quartet that made me iffy. i can’t lie though hyacinth i think is my favorite of the og series i like that it doesn’t read the same way as really any other book she has and i feel like i have overlooked the issues with consent a little in my enjoyment of the story as a whole i can’t lie. i also really love francesca’s because i actually think all of her turmoil in wanting michael was her grief and love for john and i think this book handled the dead spouse trope miles ahead of eloise’s story. i think im going to have to reread gregory’s book because i think i can appreciate it differently if i read it outside of it being the last book in the series. overall love the video and would love to see you take a gander at the other bridgerverse series! 🩵
I wonder if you would feel differently about Daphne and Benedict's stories now because imo they're the two with the most issues around consent. Daphne's book has an SA scene and the way Benedict is about Sophie is very problematic, like he'll have her as a kept woman but not a wife, and as much as I loved Sophie, the book made me hate him a bit. Benedict and Eloise are so much better on the show and I hope next season focuses on them!
I don't know if we will get a time jump. The actors for Gregory and Hyacinth are 17 now (probably 16 when filming season 3), and if they do Eloise, Benedict and Francesca first (these seasons are taking two years in between, they filmed season 1 way back in 2019) Florence Hunt who plays Hyacinth will be 22 by her season. I wonder if they are delaying Benedict because of good old misogyny, they cast both Penelope and Eloise as actors 10-15 years older than their characters when Benedict is closer to his character's age.
"Nice and good?" 33:46 Gregory literally has lines that read like a serial stalker!!! He thinks he knows what's best for her, so he ignores her many, many, many "nos" in word and action. He ties her up hides her AGAINST HER WILL! Neither nice or good.
