I really like the fact that you don't spoil and tell reviews in a way that is vague enough but still gives info on what the book is about. A lot of book reviewers are not able to do this well.
Ahhhh I’m so glad to hear the new Ruth Ware was a good one! I’ve been debating if I want to read this one after having so many misses with that author but I think you just convinced me to give it a shot 😍👏
To answer your question about Karin Slaughter's detective books, yes- they are series but can kinda be read as stand alones. There are minor spoilers for earlier books in later ones. Grant county is her first series, theres six books in that one.. will trent is her second series, number 13 is coming out in a few weeks. There are carryover characters from grant county in will trent. I have LOVED all her books, i definitely think if you've liked her stand alones and are interested in detective thrillers, hers are a solid choice!
Omg you’re so right about those transitions in the reality tv shows I love how you did that haha. It cracks me up in Vanderpump where they add all of the filters and make everything look sparkly during them
I've been passing on the last few Ruth Ware books, but it sounds like this one is a winner! For reality TV book recs, one just came on my radar called Honeycomb by S.B. Caves. It sounds really good!
Might be kind of an obvious choice, but when I think of a reality tv/survival mash-up, I think Hunger Games. I've been wanting to re-read that lately. I also just read One Perfect Couple and really liked it. It was maybe a bit more... straightforward? than I was hoping or expecting, but I can't deny that I was captivated and couldn't put it down. 4⭐
really enjoyed this video - especially because you made such a great point about what makes a book a favorite. i think when i pick up a thriller, i'm always thinking i need to read the "new hot thing" with a completely unheard of premise. in reality, as long as the plot is interesting and the author can keep me on my toes, it's STILL a good book! and i'd love some recs on the lesser known mystery/detective/police books you've read. there are so many of them on kindle unlimited that it's hard to choose sometimes!
I recently read Everyone is Watching by Heather Gudenkauf. It is about a new reality TV show that has 5 seemingly unconnected contestants competing for ten million dollars. I am also an avid reality tv watcher! I really enjoyed it!
Would love to get your list of detective TV shows cuz I enjoy em too and it's been a while since I watched a good one. Also The Golden Spoon is a cozy mystery book that has British bakeoff vibes and I had a good time with it even though the ending wasn't surprising. Would recommend it for a fun time though.
I’m hoping to get more into women thriller authors like Ruth ware, Lisa jewell, Mary kubica, Alice feeney. I’ve never heard of Clare mackintosh but reading some of her synopses, her books sound good!
So glad you liked it! I thought you would but it feels good to know it was worth recommending 😀 Have you read Everyone is Watching by Heather Gudenkauf? It’s another new thriller with a reality show element.
