Part 4 of a 4 part series In Converting a Jeep Liberty into a Toad. In this video we will be installing the the Ready Brute Tow Bar Setup and Demo. We use the Ready Brute tow bar to tow our toad behind our motor home. We love this Tow Bar and have been using it for over 15 years now.

Who says? The Ready Brute Elite II RV Tow Bar can tow most towable vehicles, from compact cars to full-size trucks, with its 8,000 lb towing capacity. It depends on the baseplate and vehicle towing requirements. 😀

Excellent demonstration. After reviewing the many videos and reviews, I just installed BlueOx baseplates and ReadyBrute on my Cherokee Trailhawk. One question I had in your hook up video (we have not used ours yet), is you appear to have zero slack on your cable (you had your driver depress the pedal to hook your cable up). Instructions say allow for 2" of slack. Is there a reason why?

Thank you! :) With the 2" slack the third brake light was not lighting while braking, so we kept adjusting until it did light. It just ensured us that the brakes were engaging. There still is slack otherwise the brakes would always be engaged and that would be bad. LOL

Do you have any issues with the engine it being on and no vacuum going into the power booster? Does your Jeep stop smoothly?

No issues at all. We have been towing Jeep Wrangler behind RV's since 2006. 😀

Thank you for a very informative video. I would like to ask you about one thing though. You remove the key from the ignition, in the end of the video. Dosn't the steering wheel lock up by doing so? Is it maybe supposed to be locked? Thank you again for the video.

Thank you for your comment. On our 2017 Wrangler there is not a steering wheel lock, so the key is not required to stay in the ignition. Check your owners manual for your year. Some years had the steering lock and some didn't. :)

Ideal equipement for purpose shown but not really suitable for an ` emergency tow-in ` situation as lots of preperation works has previously been done on the towed vehicle , double towing eyes , brake wire attachement cable and electrical socket outlet for lighting etc , but ideal product and fantastic for purpose shown :-)

What is the part that is attached to the liberty that you're hooking it up too? That's where I'm confused that all the videos show the car with the piece already on the towed car

The last thing you said was "put it in Park" then you drive away. You actually tow this vehicle in the Park position?

+Dwalt K For this vehicle you do. Putting the transfer case into neutral separates the transmission from the rear axle allowing the rear wheels to turn freely. Keep in mind though that you want to be sure the vehicle is secured to the RV before shifting the transfer case into neutral and to shift out of neutral before disconnecting from the RV to prevent a rollaway.The procedure we follow is straight from the Jeep's owners manual. It pulls like a dream too. We check on it with the rear view camera at times just to make sure it is still there. :)

excuse me but the key chain size clips are those supposed to be load bearing>>>?

You don't need to be excused. LOL The clips are larger than the "keychain" clips we have seen. We have used this setup for over 10 years now on 3 different vehicles and it has always worked flawlessly. We would like to believe that the company did the research for safety to get the patent for their product. I would suggest you get a hold of the company for any further info.

How do the front wheels on the jeep steer with tbe key pulled out? Or do you have a steering wheel shaft disconect?

On some of the Jeep Wranglers, the steering wheel doesn't lock when the key is taken out, so it's not a problem. :)

How to you haul your brute when not in use

Either folded up on the back of the rig or in a compartment. If folded we3 use a couple of bungee cords to keep it secure.

It's cool, but i think whoever wired it made a mistake. In most states, it's illegal to have amber stop lights, and they come on with the stop lights

Law says AMBER is legal for STOP and Turn but not TAIL. If amber only comes on with brake or turn it is legal(Federal Law)but when driving tail lights must be Red.

The new Elite towbar is capable of pulling 8000 pounds. It will depend on the weight of your truck and the towing capacity of the vehicle you are pulling it with.
