It has not been the same since they changed the route. It was called the Paris to Dakar Rally for a reason.

How do they power the e-tron in the desert? Do they bring alot of charged battery packs? Or do they bring alot of solar panels to set up?

the 2L engine acts as a generator. Converting gasoline into electricity to power the 2 electric motors.

@@k9man163 that's the cool part, the amount of electricity produced by the that small engine and then used by the electric motor is far more efficient and powerful than the amount of power you would get from the same amount of fuel in a petrol-only car with the same engine. Therefore, by using this system, while you do pollute a little, the overall car pollutes a lot less than a petrol car with same horse power would do. (please excuse my bad English)

Would be nice if Red Bull and their athletes developed a social conscience and voiced opposition to events like Dakar and F1 being held in the oppressive Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Remember Jamal Khashoggi??? Bring the Dakar back South America.
