What most people don't realize, what it lacks in flavor, it makes up for in calorie density. Whether its Mountain House, Peak, Omeals, Augason Farms, 4 patriots etc, emergency food is just that, for emergencies. Its not meant to taste great, its meant to be calorie dense, and last a long time.
To meet 1800 calories, you would need 9 full meals a day of these. If you eat 3 entrees a day, and 2 snacks, you're still under 1000 calories. None of these buckets are high in calories. You must supplement with your own HOMESTEAD
Good in theory, but all the brands you mentioned are NOT calorically dense. You’d have to eat triple the recommended servings per person to hit your daily calorie goals. Think of these as supplements to what you already have on hand: dried beans, rice, etc.
@@RandoPandaSmiles Lets make an example: the readywise cheesy macaroni is 260 calories per serving, a serving is 2 ounces of food, or 66 grams or 1/4 of a cup. When was the last time you only ate 1/4 of a cup of macaroni and cheese? The packages are not resealable, so you either cook the whole pouch, or toss the rest. So a whole package is 1040 calories, in 1 meal. 3 meals a day puts you well over the 2000 calorie mark.
it didnt spill it was like that with mine too. it smells sugary. makes me think the bagging method for the desert spilled a little on the outside rim of the zip and spread. should be harmless
I love Costco. Sad to see every American emergency food supply has mac'n'cheese. No one in my family, including myself, like mac'n'cheese. I wish our American emergency foods would be more like the European styles.
Dont replace real food for this food as this food is designed to keep you alive, not healthy because they have high amounts of preservation chemicals and ingredients
.......... in the case of an emergency..... Earthquakes, no electricity for weeks (causing food to go bad at your local stores). Supply chain issues, etc etc.
@snowman2970 Hunting skills become even more important when you have dietary constraints due to health issues. Stock up beans at the evey least. Better than these "meals" anyways. Beans might be your best friend.
These are disgusting. You are better off stocking freeze-dried eggs, vegetables, and fruits. If you're someone who's okay eating the same thing for every meal while surviving then it's great. I would avoid these at all costs. This isn't providing you any nutrients. The last thing you want while staying sheltered in place is to become unfit. You want proteins and nutrients from fruits and veggies and you want to be able to stay in shape by working out.
