Reagindo a So Hyang - You Raise Me Up | Mari na Plateia S3 E20 

Para mim, uma das curiosidades mais incríveis é o fato dela estar se recuperando de uma pneumonia nessa apresentação

Mari, I am sure many sohyang fans will give you the same information but sohyang was ill during this performance & I certainly think she is not at her best in this performance, although still amazing. She had been told by the doctor not to perform as she hadn’t yet recovered from her latest bout of pneumonia but as usual for Sohyang, she didn’t want to disappoint the people who had come to see her sing, so she went ahead & sang. As a long time fan of Sohyang I think she looks very tired & like she had lost weight from her face & as I have said before, I don’t think this performance is quite up to her usual standard vocally. This may sound harsh but I am am only judging this on the standard she has set on other performances, it is still amazing by normal vocalist’s standards. This is her arrangement & obviously this was not affected by her illness.

Can you believe it? She has suffering with pneumonia when this performance. . But it's true. .!!(She suffered from pneumonia about eight times between 2016 and 2018).. . and she slayed it legendary. . .she is amazing. . !!!

This Master Class performance from the Phenomenal So Hyang is even more impressive given the fact that she IS NOT well here. Some time prior to this event, she had been released from the hospital, still recovering from one of her numerous bouts with severe pneumonia. (Eight times between 2016 - 2020). So Hyang's doctors advised her to cancel, to not talk, and to just rest. So Hyang did not want to disappoint the audience. Furthermore, she was experiencing vocal cord issues at the time and thought her singing career was over. She wanted to sing one last time. After the event, she was readmitted to the hospital. So Hyang disappeared from public singing for nearly two years. She returned in 2020. Fast forward to 2024, not only does it appear that So Hyang is aging in reverse, vocally she sounds better than ever, if that's even possible. Her vocal range is still ridiculous, and her breath control remains insane.

Sensacional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Não conhecia a So Hyang e fiquei apaixonado. Lá vou eu agora procurar outros vídeo dela no RU-vid. Eu adora quando um cantor/cantora tem uma identidade própria e consegue fazer releituras de grandes sucessos, alterando a melodia da música e colocando nos arranjos (aqui no Brasil, temos o Ricky Vallen). Acho que ela conseguiu fazer isso com muita maestria!! Ela é maravilhosa!!

No matter what Sohyang sings, she injects life into you. She is the most extraordinary woman I know of. You can tie your behind to a piano and it will prove futile because Sohyang's performance will literally suck you into the emotion and power she exudes, piano and all! She is the most magical singer I have come across in my entire six and one half decades on this planet. Sohyang is a once in a lifetime singer. The guy in the video was Shane Filan of the Irish group Westlife. The television program was a tribute to him and his band, and every performer that night sang one of their hits. Westlife had a monster hit in the UK with "You Raise Me Up," thus Sohyang sang this in tribute to him. Shane told Sohyang that after hearing her version "the hairs on the back of my neck were standing up" and it was "amazing" and "outstanding!" Not hard to see why, eh? The music for the song "You Raise Me Up" was originally written by a Norwegian group called Secret Garden, while the lyrics were written by an Irishman named Brendan Graham. Mr. Graham saw Sohyang's performance and was absolutely thrilled by her rearrangement of the music and rendition, so he had the Irish embassy in Seoul get in contact with Sohyang to let her know that he felt her version was the best ever. Sohyang had to _really_ pull back on concerts after this appearance, and thought it might actually be the last one of her singing career due to the serious pneumonia. Thus the Irish embassy had a difficult time finding Sohyang but they did finally get a hold of her and delivered Mr. Graham's message. Other than this one performance, we know of only two other times Sohyang has performed this rendition of "You Raise Me Up," both in 2018. When she changes key there a couple of times near the end of the song and belts those high notes so powerfully, you expect her to actually lift off the stage and go into orbit! Yes, Sohyang is famous for throwing in everything and leaving it all on the stage--including the kitchen sink!
