I am a real world Airline pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the detailed simulations of airliners in MSFS and X Plane. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

I just bought the 737-800 and i love how detailed it is in optics and functionality. I was used to FBW A320 and it is great but PMDGs 737 and now this awesome 777 are far ahead. I like your tutorials very much. It is just a teaching lesson in flying for me as realistic as possible thanks!! 🎉

A fascinating and very informative video - not sure if it is because it's all new to an Airbus simmer but many things just feel unnecessarily complicated in the Boeing in comparison. Even the parking brake requires two actions instead of one. But on the flip side I did spot one or two features that would be handy in the bus.

You can choose the flight levels you want for the wind data request. When in the LEGS page ready to load the wind data, just click on the right (on any waypoint), then type whatever flight levels you want on the left side (you can choose up to 4 flight levels). After that, just load the wind data.

@320SimPilot
@320SimPilot 29 дней назад
Thank you so much! When you go far enough North you would change the HDG REF (below the Captains Screens) to TRUE. There are a lot of other procedures but you end up flying in 'Grid' navigation which is a bit difficult to explain here. I may discuss it in future! I hope this helps a bit.

Why would entering your arrival STAR & Runway mess up your sequencing if you do this before departure? If the waypoints in the FMC are in the correct order where is the possibility of it going wrong? Also doesn’t entering the STAR make a DISCONTINUITY in the FMC which kind of separates those Waypoints away from the main route? Hope that makes sense 😂

Hey. I've noticed the 777 kind of "snaps" when leveling out the wings on the last few degrees of roll from a turn. You can even see the yoke "jerk" when it does that. Is that normal?

Thanks again for the tutorial! Moving to real life, it has been suggested to me that the cockpit is the worst place to be in the plane with regards to humidity, i.e. it has the driest air. Is the difference noticeable, and does it cause nasal and/or sinus problems?

@Shrike200
@Shrike200 2 дня назад
How on earth does one assign a joystick button to (for example) opening the speed window on the MCP? (IRL, pushing the speed knob) Same applies for the ALT knob, track/hdg select etc. Things like TOGA and A/P disconnect etc are MSFS standard commands, but I've tried all others in MSFS for those functions, and nothing worked. I don't have anything like FSUIPC (and don't want it). Are those controls bind-able at all? Didn't the older PMDG modules for FSX use to have a separate control bindings app?

Great video, thank you. What did you mean by the heading bug?
@cjfs1948
@cjfs1948 Месяц назад
When you rotate the heading knob it points to a new direction. On the old stream gauge aircraft that was a small "bug" on the circumference of the instrument showing the "bugged" heading. Look at the MSFS Cessna 172 (not the G1000 version) to see "bugs" on the directional gyro. Basically they are reminders you can set. The 742 had speed bugs you set to remind you about flap speeds.

@@320SimPilot Yep, I do everything that is required and still get the message. My VNAV page on the FMC does detect all of the altitude constraints from a SID or STAR, however not sure why it won't follow them for itself. Now, I have to manually change speed or altitude depending on the constraints manually through the page as a guide to allow the flight to still go smoothly.

That's Boeing baby! A good airline pilot always centers the hdg bug so that you aren't caught off guard when ATC asks for a turn.
@Q3ark
@Q3ark 29 дней назад
@@jfavignano that makes no sense to me though. If the heading bug is centred and ATC asks for a heading change then you would have to set the bug to the heading they asked for, in that instance it makes no difference wether the bug is centred or not, you would have to move it anyway. I aren’t trying to be a smart ass, I genuinely don’t understand the reasoning, it takes no time at all to set any number in the heading window.
