Color temperature will affect the colors in amethyst. A lower temp will show red flashes with violet... a high temp(like the flashlight in your video) will make the blues go crazy while maintaining a rich violet color. You are absolutely right about the quality of the amethyst... any kind of color shift/flash outside of the standard purple/lavender is a lot more valuable. You should be able to get some decent sized cabs out of that material.

No not at all it could be almost black and that means it's super saturated with Iron. That's what makes the stone purple in the first place

@@FirstCallToTheUniverse Okay ☺ Thank you.. I've read that quartz crystal has something called Triboluminescence and that creates the sparks. I've a Clear quartz mala and when I rubbed them in dark , saw those sparks , not sure if Amethyst also has this quality. Will buy Amethyst bracelet online so wanna make sure if it's real or not as there are so many fake crystals in the market nowadays ☺
@FirstCallToTheUniverse
@FirstCallToTheUniverse 4 года назад
Yes it does spark! I'd think it's all types of quartz that does that because its all the same material just with different impurities stained into the quartz itself that gives it its color. Citrine, smokey, hematoid, amethyst, rose, clear, milky, and the varieties of chalcedony would all apply. I would hope you could find real Amethyst beads they shouldn't be too uncommon but I understand there are a bunch of fake sellers out there especially online so be careful. But what a very cool find I never really tried this but I should have known. But I didn't think just by rubbing more as in striking like with pieces of Chert, (gray dark chalcedony) but that was very interesting indeed thank you for sharing!

@@FirstCallToTheUniverse 😊 actually I searched a lot in google if Amethyst and Rose quartz also creates sparks or not , but I couldn't find any answer so I got confused if only clear quartz does that , but there was said that quartz has triboluminescence , (I'm still confused about Rose quartz and Amythest lol ) asked so many youtubers and except you and another one none of them replied me , thank you 💖, you can check those two videos for idea (haha I know you that know a lot about crystals 😅) 1. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GWcM0IYzPxk.html 2. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A2z6SS2etwk.html Please notify me if you find those sparks in Rose quartz and Amethyst ☺ Thank you again !

heat treating is done when they want to force the process of amethyst becoming citrine. For color they dye them and that sucks

hi i cant tell if my crystal is purple flourite pr amythest any help?
@casualtyarmy87
@casualtyarmy87 2 года назад
usually a lot of fluorite will have cubic shape, maybe take it to a crystal shop and ask them
@FirstCallToTheUniverse
@FirstCallToTheUniverse 2 года назад
I feel like this is a good question just on first glance it's more common to find banded flourite then amethyst, Yes its cubicle, but quartz can easily look that way too. The best test is if you can find a black light or something and see if it glows Amethyst does not. If that not possible then take like a tumb tac and try and scratch it but if you do this quartz will not be actually scratched and flourite will have a divit in it easily.

@FirstCallToTheUniverse 3 года назад
@@jasminenc12345 Yea my buddy was here with me and it was a strange moment because I used to collect when I was a small kid but I had never seen those stones before. I was sweeping my garage so me and my buddy could hangout in there and chill and next thing I knew I was sweeping the corner of my garage on the bottom exposed beam like I have a bunch of times and there were these tubs somehow just there I must of missed my whole life and the funny thing is my buddy watched me clean my garage before a few times and he was surprised as well. But these are a middle ground for what has happened to me these stones are the reason I found and joined one of the oldest mineral clubs in the US with a dark past about my city. But it gave me opportunity just at the right moment when I had lost one right before. what you seen isn't even half of what I found those are just the cool pieces from three old ziplock tubs of material.

Can amazonite be deep blue?
@FirstCallToTheUniverse
@FirstCallToTheUniverse 2 года назад
How deep we talking like Smurf blue sure, but once you start getting into deeper ocean type blues, royal, things like that then it may be something else, even from experience I've see stuff from different people and it's typically very greenish, can be yellowy a tad, once you start actually finding nice deeper blue pieces they typically can be a bit greenish to blue, and then there is blue blue which is rarer to find. like sky blue but the deepest version of sky blue kinda like a Smurf that's why I say that. It's super ez to ID as well I'll tell this the white stridations like waves on the stone are first indicators that it's Amazonite, It's a very chalky looking rock rough but cleaned up and polished it can look like very wavy. Another tip in general rock id is hardness if you can find the material that can scratch that rock you'll have an answer. just look just MOH Scale then look up Hardness for Amazonite then look at the scale to see what items you can use to eliminate each level and if your rock matches the item you'll know you're closer to be right then wrong but just on looks it should be fairly obvious. There are other stones that can be researched upon as well if it seems the piece is something else the closest things that can resemble amazonite I fell are Larimar which is wavy as well, really more blotchy really if we're comparing the two and it has an optical effect where the stone reflects light when moving it around. next would be turquoise, then Chrysocolla, if it's super dark then lapis or sodalite.

You probably haven't seen my other videos but just know I couldn't even make it up. I'm just sharing what I not only I've tested but had another professional appraiser tell me which correlates with my findings as well. But besides all that You know you're a troll when somebody can't even answer the questions or can't really be specific. I mean you do know that borax and quartz are two different things right? But then again I might be talking to someone who doesn't understand hardness and composition.

It’s a lot of faffing about in this video. I thought this was meant to be a video on how to spot fakes
@FirstCallToTheUniverse
@FirstCallToTheUniverse 2 года назад
Sorry I know now because I've been told before. I guess when you're used to shuffling through rock it becomes ambient to me. Also you really don't see too many fake Amethyst but they do exist, they usually are in the form of dyed clear quarts or crackled quartz. Both can fade in sunlight, and are noticeable when looking at them the stone should be either consistent in color or have consistencies of natural patterns rather then imitation looking ones that look just fake in general. I mean usually Amethyst is very common to find and especially rough uncut or unpolished just as crystals and those are real for the most part as people still will still do shady stuff no matter what it is. I just don't see the effort in it realistically, usually dyed stones are polished up kinda like river rock and are sold as parts of like kids treasure chest toys. I think that's why the effort make no sense other than for things like that because quazrt in general isn't very expensive, but it can be depending on the cutter and the piece itself. Amazonite isn't really faked and can be found in a few places making it not so uncommon anymore but just like quartz it depends on the quality and the cutter. People would rather spend time and effort making Turquoise than Amazonite and it would be a lot harder to pull off.
