Real Bargains Found Thrifting | Diamond, Gold, Silver & Costume Jewelry, Signed Painting by Dr. Lori 

I hope I make you proud Dr. L, because I purchased an $8 bag of jewelry at a thrift store in Iowa city and scored an 18k rose gold Victorian band with artwork on it. ❤️❤️❤️ I gave myself an A with extra credit for the identification.

Dr Lori, not only are you a goldmine of information, and the bearer of good news to these callers, but you are so fun and pleasant to listen to. I love to hear when someone finds buried treasure that you unveil. I am a re-seller in Ireland where we don't have thrift stores or antique booths or estate sales. My only source of stock is from a bi-weekly online auction from an Antique Auction House and I am not sure where they source their stock from. I know I have picked up some 'treasures' in my lots that I won over time but it is impossible for me to re-sell and realise the true value of these pieces. People just won't pay for them. I don't deal with ebay and we don't have poshmark or the other platforms available in the USA so I rely on Facebook Marketplace and an online advertiser. Not the best platforms for selling vintage and antiques I know but my house is starting to cave in under the weight of unsold stock even though I have been pricing things down at a ridiculously low prices. I am totally overwhelmed and at this stage feel like just giving everything away as we don't even have yard sales. Sorry for whining but I have worked so hard and spent so much and it just seems like everybody is on this same train now and it is practically impossible to make a profit on these lovely old items. Should I stick with it or call it a day? Could anyone reading this comment tell me what you think? Sorry it's so long!!

Wow...I knew I had a good eye for quality, since my grandmother taught me to look at construction and all around any piece of art or jewelry, but I did not know that signed and marked pieces was also a key to quality. Now I know why the piece I thought was high quality, I could read Coro Craft with my loop! I also spotted several makers marks and signatures on on-line sellers pictures and they have no idea...so excited! Thank you, thank you!

This video has given me inspiration to keep hunting for treasures. I haven’t had a great find for a while now. I go to a small town auction house almost every week. Some of the ladies and I have a friendly competition with jewelry. They tease me for having my tools with me. After finding a morganite and rose gold ring in a $35.00 box, the ladies are bring their loupes with them to auction as well. The hunt is so addictive! Lol. Love your shows! I’m a huge fan Dr. Lori. ☮️

Bought a purse at a thrift store, felt something weird at bottom of bag. Went searching I discovered earrings and a pendant had fallen thru a rip and had landed inside the bags lining! 22 carot gold and I'm 650$ richer 😊

My mom had some truly beautiful pieces of jewelry! I’m the only daughter of 5 children…when we lost her most of her jewelry, which she had said would be mine and to share with her granddaughters…was already gone🥺

My best op shop bargain (thrift store in Australia). $3 bangle- 14 karat gold overlay on sterling silver with inset 7 semi precious gemstones- peridot, aquamarine, topaz and the rest I can’t identify. There is a makers mark on it and I did google it once but can’t recall the details. I think it had a retail value around $150 + The sales lady knew it was way undervalued by the look on her face, but here it must be sold at it’s marked sale price. It does pay to trawl through the costume jewellery.

I am a mess when cleaning costume jewelry. I did a batch and the faux pearls and crystals fell off like the glue disolved

You might have good reason not to do this, but I wish you could say what state the item came from. Pickings are slimmer out west because of fewer people, I guess. There are fewer thrift -charity stores. Out here, estate sales often give the best chance for a find, I imagine most of your stories are from east of the Mississippi. Regardless….I love your show.
