Amazing finds guys! Love all those old coins especially that seated and Morgan! When I used my CTX and Etrac my halves always hit around 1-45 and my dollars even though I never dug one always air tested 1-40/1-41 so it makes perfectly good sense that it sounded like a wheat. HH!
Thanks John! Yeah it was the weirdest signal, a silver dollar was the last thing I expected to pop up. I guess now I know what they sound like! HH man!
Im a little late on the comment lol but i would definetly say that the piece of trash your buddy announced was in the hole as well was the culprit on the weird signal for the silver dollar 👍
Great hunt fellas...wish I could find some green grass to dig in...it's still all white n frozen here. Didn't we work together at Dewey, Rubbum, and Howe... proprietors of finely handled silver. lol
Thanks man! Yeah the token was one of the top finds IMO. There was a name on the token and we looked it up and found him in the 1870 tax records of the town, really cool to find personal history like that
Congrats on all your finds Zach & Kyle! Loved seeing that big dollar come out of the ground. Road-tripping is always the best fun. No worries in the world, just pure detecting and talking about detecting! I've got a couple road trips planned in April and May and REALLY looking forward to them. Best wishes and happy hunting, Dave.
Thanks Dave! Yeah road trips are the best. We tried to get permission for the yard of that Italianate house by calling the owner but she said they have never let anyone do it. I imagine there are some amazing items in that yard but we just got to do the curbstrip. I bet you're stoked for your road trips!! Where are you going?
Thanks Wes! Yeah that Indian Kyle found was pristine! Surprisingly that and the Morgan were really the only old coins we found in that yard, but they were more than enough!
Score! You guys are lucky. All I find around here is bullets, casings and cans with some modern coins once in a while! My friend and I started going to the parks that have volleyball courts to pretend we were at the beach and found alot more random things, but never anything so old. Cheers! I'll tag you in a comment on my IG so you can see the fun we had at least!
Must be nice to be around place lake that Perfect for metal detecting -finding coins that represents American history Nothing gets better then that Keep up digging don't stop for coffee All the best and happy hunting everybody
awesome hunt guys you killed it ,im still waiting for snow and ground to thaw here in CT congrats on ur 1st morgan dollar ive never dug one yet myself 1 day maybe
Congratulations on your first Morgan!!! Awesome!!! Some days are slow, just remain persistent, the good stuff will come! You guys had some great finds, I always love to see you getting the coins! Preserve that history, Zach, like us old-timers, it won't be there forever! :-)
Thanks Cynthia! Most of the trip we were just finding mercs and rosies and then that last day it was like the floodgates opened. Saving history never gets old!
Awesomeness again! I've been looking for the Morgan for a long while too! Just as the walker, the Morgan has too evaded capture by my Equinox. The hunt continues lol.
best find was the seated O dime, & ya nicked it :( what a bummer, that wld of been my luck also! great hunt! I wish we had more older places that were searchable here in the northeast.
Thanks man! Yeah scratching coins happens to everyone at one point or another, it’s just too bad it happened to be that seated this time. I would think you guys would have a lot of great spots in the northeast
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting Yep gotta watch those FE numbers on the big silver. Otherwise they read just like a copper penny. Sure is nice to find them! I bet you still have a big smile on your face. :)
Down South Detecting the closest I would be is in the Dallas/Fortworth area in the spring as that would be part of my spring break would be to come to Texas. I currently live in California.
Thanks Andrew! We tried calling the owner of that house and they said they tell everyone no, so it’s probably virgin. The curbs in front of it were epic in their own right though
Older video for you but my question if read this is: How did you obtain permission to detect on the court house grounds? Finders keepers rule or did you have to turn it all over to them? Thanks guys and I enjoy the vids. Liked and subscribed.
On this particular courthouse we walked inside and talked to the judge himself. He gave us permission to hunt it and keep whatever we find. Thanks for stopping by!
People are saying that you shouldn't rub the coins. I half agree with them, I think it is ok to rub coins, but if you rub them then you should take your gloves off so you don't scratch the coins. Just some friendly advice. GL & HH!
My big question is how do you get the permission to detect at those places: (gardens and what not)? P.s hopefully this reaches you and you have your comment viewing option set on newest
I was able to get permission at one by asking at the county sheriff's office. I dealt with a very helpful Deputy. He talked to Sheriff who said I could detect, but not dig. Deputy called county commissioner, who said they could bring it up at a commission meeting, but suggested calling the county attorney. County attorney gave the OK. Kudos to the Deputy for making all the calls for me. And this all happened on a Sunday morning.
Haha, thanks Brandon! Dude they will come up when you least expect them. They don't even sound like other silver coins, I was so surprised when I saw that monster silver rim pop up
Great finds! But do you actually keep them, donate them, sell them? And for that bullet...did you have to turn it in to the authorities or a museum? I don't have a metal detector nor ever do so! Just wondering of the legalities if any is all!
You need to get with me in late august and i will get you on a city hall that is about 3x1 3x2 city blocks after our lastt big festival of the year for just about anything from Old to new stuff
Cool finds guys. I really think you both need to find a better system when it comes to touching and grabbing the other person's find right away. It gets to crowded in the moment. So maybe set a rule in which both of you can have your "time" with the find while your filming. I know it will help! Cool vids keep em coming!
Thanks! Yup we can do what we want with them. It's not like we are grinding the coins or anything either, we only rub as much as we need to in the field
If you dig as poorly as they did you won't last long . Dig like a pro not like them ,use some kind of cloth to put your dirt on . Looks bad for the hobby !
You guys have got to keep a lid on your emotions and volume level, you alert everyone within earshot that you are finding value. Never know when the bad actors are watching. Be safe.
Yeah, it happens to the best of us I guess. That's the first time in a while I have gouged a silver and that time it just happened to be a super old one
I just introduce myself and tell them I like to metal detect as a hobby, and that I have been searching some of the houses in their area and was wondering if I could search theirs.
I have the same detector. I have been detecting less than a year. I'm still learning what my machine is telling me. My silver count is small, a Mercury dime and a SLQ. I found the dime in a yard I got permission, and the quarter in a public area I'm sure has been hunted before. Most of my hunting has been in parks and I end up digging a lot of trash. Pop tops ring up on our machine around 34-36. Could be a nickel, or a gold ring! Won't know unless you dig it. Keep digging and it will come. Remember, these videos condense many hours of detecting into a 20 minutes of showing the good stuff. Good luck & happy hunting.
You guys pop silver like nothing and my and ollie peine are friends and we have been detecting for. Couple months and we are mad that we can’t find silver can you do a video of how to find silver
