This is how you setup and use VRChat finger tracking in VRChat's latest beta using Quest 2 standalone. I'm not sure if this works with PC over Quest link or not.
Also it’s helpful to know that the beta has another server so the people that you will see there are only the people on the beta, like you. So it’s normal if it’s a bit empty.
It’s okay, the movement is still off even after the beta, the anchor vanishes too quickly if it gets too far and feels really off, hoping it fixes that soon in a future update
@Spacegamer Yes they do actually! It was a fairly recent update but I beleive it was added at a similar time vrc hand tracking was added for quest. It's just not available on many pc games yet
@@Steemy1000False, I use my quest 2 on PC every day and check for updates daily cause im waiting for the direct touch update IT STILL DIDNT DROP... even though it should have been out for a month now. You can only emulate a controller using hand tracking when using virtual desktop.
i would love for this feature to be on the regular app. i mean it probably will soon considering its only in beta testing right now, meaning if it does good, then they will add it as a new feature. cant wait!!
I can jump when i connect my right hand thumb and ring finger, but i can't move when connecting my middle finger and thumb on either my right hand or left hand. Those anchor dots never appear. I hand gestures turned as well and my room is well lit, i tried adjusting the guardian and restarting my Quest 2 and also tried making sure it was up to date, but to no avail.
I'm gonna try to see if this works for pcvr with quest 2. I'll Update soon Update: So the beta finger tracking doesn't work with pcvr virtual desktop, linked, (Haven't tried airlink yet). Even with using open beta on steam, it does normal quest 2 finger tracking, NOT the new beta
I'm not sure, it's hard to tell with them. But it feels pretty close to a complete feature. I would guess maybe 2 months before it's in the live stable build, but it could really be anything.
thats the point of having the beta, give them feedback as much and as good as possible, so they can iron it out quick. but i don't know if they are going to make it to steam PCVR tho.
Note that hand tracking is ONLY available on quest stand alone and not available when connected to a pc. VRChat SUCKS in stand alone mode with limited avatars so i will never use hand tracking. A shame as the touch thumbsticks in VRC are poor as just touching them or trying to move sets off a gesture and a lot of avatars have animations set to that gesture half of the time setting off constantly or playing a world breaking animation every time you try to move.
tried it just now, for what it is , it is pretty amazing, a lot of learning curve needs to be followed for sure, but when it works, it does feel amazing. and it is only gonna get better from here, given the limitation of quest2's camera res/cpu power. in the future, full body full hand track without any controller is surely the way to go, probably only with cameras.
I doubt the controllers will ever go away. They're just too good for casual VR gaming. And they have joysticks, which will likely be the mainstream movement option in VR for another decade or two if not longer. But who knows? Maybe gesture based controls and movement will take off.
So you wouldn't use the wheel, but you can access everything on it. Best thing to do is open the menu up and with the left or right wing you can access everything on your expressions.
When I try the menu never works I was pinching using the right finger and no matter how much I tried it didn’t work I think it is because I used regular vr chat
Honestly, as a pcvr user, while the hand tracking is good, its not enough to make me downgrade from pv vrchat to quest vrchat. I still prefer the hihg grapgics, etc you get on pc.
I did, but it wouldn't switch. That's why I'm doing it manually. I use some pretty big grips that make my controllers like the index, I think they're triggering the haptics to make it think they're being held.
Fix for the straps issue: On the right controller: hold B + Oculus Button On the left controller: hold Y + Hamburger/3 Lines Button This will temporarily set your controllers to Pairing mode (turning it off temporarily), after about 2-3 minutes, it’ll auto reconnect to your headset.
It's so bad. So unusable. Why don't they make it one handed??? You only need a single vector to do all movement! Why did they separate rotation and movement?? It's like no thought went into it whatsoever. It would be much better if they just chose the single binary key which has the lowest signal/noise ratio... let's say a fist, it's probably very reliable that a fist is detected. Once the first start's that's the origin point to capture of the vector, now wherever I move the first, subtract that from the origin, and make that my velocity input. Done. It would work phenomenally.
