Real GTA Simulator! 

I think the biggest problem is that the camera view is not controlled py the person wearing the goggles. This is some 1996 auto-camera stuff. lol Would be much cooler to have a 3rd person rig attached to the person, and a controller to move the camera/switch to another mounted to ADS.

I actually REALLY wanna try this. Third person life would be epic and hilarious.

+Sam and Niko This looked like a lot of fun, I have a suggestion if you ever want to do more third person stuff like this. Find where the edge of the camera's FOV is and mark it with some form of short bar in each direction so that the operator can frame up their view easier.

How about mounting 2 cameras on one person. One for third person view and the other one you mount onto the person's upper chest. So if he aims down the weapon sight the camera opperator behind the scenes needs to switch from 3rd person to iron sights.

I have a cool idea that builds off of this concept! Would it be possible to set up multiple cameras for a classic survival horror simulator? The wearer would see themselves walking around at a certain camera angle, then when they reach a certain spot, they would see themselves from a different camera placed somewhere else, mimicking changing camera angles. Then you could have some crew members act as zombies, walking around where the wearer of the goggles cant see due to the fixed camera. It might be too complicated due to the need for changing cameras (or maybe a crew member can observe where the goggle wearer is moving and change it manually) but imagine how scary that would be!

Can I just say that the 3rd person view with the music going on is aesthetic af?

This is really cool. Maybe you could make a harness that the player wears and put a stabiliser on the camera so the footage is smooth. Also if the play goes into a car maybe you could have 2 cameras, one on the harness and another permanently attached to the car. Then if the player gets in the car, they can switch feeds. And vice versa. Keep up the good work!

instead of relying on someone else to hold the camera, why not fix the camera system to the 'player', something like strapping the pole to a backpack or harness and use a gyro mount to improve the stability of the camera view. probably would work best with the car by fixing the camera pole to the back

That whole concept is actually really cool, would like to try driving an actual car or just walking with the setup. A crazy idea: Try having a swordfight or such so that the two personscan only see what the other person would see. Basically cameras on their heads would transmit the picture to the other's eyes/goggles. Probably would be a mindfuck experience.

I always thought this would be cool to try with a small camera drone following you around tracking you. You could either have someone else operating the drone or if you get one with sophisticated enough tech you could program it and then when the subject aims, hit a button and have it change to a shoulder shot or whatever. Great job on this either way though! Very entertaining and cool to watch!

This may have been one of your most fascinating and entertaining videos so far, guys! I actually preferred the footage in the beginning. It had an old retro feel. Did you guys stop traffic to finish the battle at the end?

Now make it controllable with an Xbox or Playstation controller. Also, this has been done before by Rooster Teeth. Much better, might I add.

For the next 1v1 you should have the other person's goggles. IE: Sam records Jimmy's perspective but Wren gets Sam's feed, while Niko shoots Wren's perspective that gets fed to Jimmys goggles.

Nice! This gave me an idea: buy cellphone vibration motors on ebay(or aliexpress), stick them to a different parts of the body of a player and make ultimate GTA experience: the gamer sits on her couch with controller and TV that shows overhead view of the player; the player equipped with vibration motors which gamer controls; the player does everything that gamer wants, based on some pre-determined control scheme, like vibration on left leg means - turn left, vibration on arm means hit somebody/something, etc.

If you wind up trying this dueling thing again I think it would be cool to have laser pointers on the guns and somehow make the light visible as more than just a point on the target (maybe those fancy green laser things). Might also make it easier for the duelists to aim.

Actually, place it in a laser tag arena and make it that you only can see yourself in third person? That would be a hell of a game. Real haptic feedback and out-of-body intense experience

Here's a million $ idea: Get a drone with a camera to keep following you from behind while it transmits the video to your VR. It won't be easy but I think it would be feasible, with some good programming+motion tracking combo. It would be able to handle sudden turns from the person being followed much better as it can circle around them a lot faster than a human can.

Oh wow, this is awesome! You guys could try this with a gopro third person mount. Like those that basically straps the pole on the person or like the one that Novritsch uses.

I have a suggestion for what to do next with this tech. Instead of third person perspective (TPP) try FPP. Like on call of duty 🤷🏻‍♂️. Mount the camera on your chest or helmet and then use the goggles to fire at opponents.... Probably an idea for Node...... Try this out......

You should make a body harness to have the camera be attached to the person always in one angle. As for the car, it should have a rig attached to the trunk (but high up), and camera switched as the person gets in

A production called "The Attack" did something slimier to this. They had the camera in a backpack like device looking down from behind and above them. They ran an obstacle course with it.

GoPro on a small gimbal, mounted over the shoulder using a chest harness (plate carrier?) and some PVC, connected to the Fatshark via a USB/HDMI out (Wifi and over the air are too latent). The view would recenter a bit slowly because of the gimbal, but it would at least center reliably, and would make it easier for the 'player' to aim and function.

Niko's idea is just the "Side Scrolling in Real Life - Immersion" video Rooster Teeth made in 2010. I'm sure they can improve on the concept though. Good luck!

I would like to see you guys do a Corridor length video simulating all the little quirks in the game. I know you already dd a few of them with Steven Ogg, but maybe another one with the little details of the gam, like how when anyone is drinking beer, they do a little dance, or when they are sitting in a car, how they will look down and brush their knee. I would do it myself, but I don't have the resources.

I was thinking they could do like a 1v1 where the cameras have set locations, on opposite roofs looking down at the battle, while each player has a distinctive color so as not get confused.. That would be pretty cool to play, and hilarious to watch

Cool idea, you should try to strap the camera on to them so that it’s behind them on a pole and follows them consistently, or just do it in the car and have a pole on the back of that

That was cool. Initially I thought you guys were flying a drone or had an auto drone with the camera attached to it. The side scroller idea is great, if you do it in a padded area like a gym or something.

TIP: For 3rd person perspective it would be REALLY COOL if you attached the camera to the back of the person wearing goggles with a support, like in your Splinter Cell Black List short or like in your Chain Gun Boss video!

A better way to do the camera is to have camera's set in one position and changes when one person outside presses the button, Like for example (PREPARE FOR LONG TEXT) SIMPLE EXPLANATION AT END if the player gets into a car there would be a go pro camera stick connected to the car with a full hookup to the AC so it can stay charged. When they get out of the car and walk someone would press one button to go to a camera attached to his back that (Obviously) has to be equipped after they exit. But when they aim there would be a go pro attached to the left/right shoulder that would switch the view. Basically all camera's are being worn and are attached to whatever vehicle or clothing he/she is wearing/driving. Simplified: Camera's should have been attached to the car and clothing using an stick that stays still but also can switch viewpoints because of someone with the controller switching and taking off/attaching certain camera parts.

This would be cool with that drone feature some of the nicer drones have where it can follow you around

You guys should have programmed a drone to fly a certain distance away from visual markers on the back of the car and used the GoPro rig you were using for regular 3rd person walking view.

This reminded me of "The Mini Boss". Maybe try a setup like that? I know the zoom for the aim-down-the-sights effect was done in post, but maybe it wouldn't be necessary to actually aim for targets.

It would be so cool to see this being factory-made. The pole would be on some kind of a waist belt ( so that the camera would be always behind you )and you could operate the zoom-in. What do you think?

You should definitely try this again, but with personal rigs. The concept is too good to pass for just one video.

You should do something like two people are on a facetime call, one person had a nerf gun and is blindfolded and the second person has to guide them from what they see from the call. There could be two teams. Itd be lit.

Just so you guys know, there are several mods you can use to let a GoPro send its image to the goggles. just stick it onto the GoPro and you get a way better image, but watch out it comes with a little bit more latency

Somehow programming a drone to follow based on where the player is looking and mode (walking, driving, shooting, etc) would make this work. This would be great for Nerf Wars.

You guys should do a FPS video with the camera mounted on the gun streaming directly to these googles. Or a third person shooter with the camera rig bound to the back over the shoulder with a harness or something. Might be fun!

Rooster Teeth's Immersion Series has done a lot of what you guys are experimenting with here. Check out the Resident Evil one. The use over the shoulder perspectives, fixed cameras, first person etc.

Have you heard about the Active Track feature on the DJI Inspire 2? Or for that fact any drones with "follow me" features. Maybe those could help with side scrolling fun?
