Hey! I'm a 19 year old studying to be a holistic nutritionist in England and I'm SO glad that I found this video. I love love love studying to be a holistic nutritionist but I've been feeling bit stressed recently over the pressure I've put on myself to be perfect all the time! I have realised just as you have summed up in your video that it just isn't practical and after all, how can you give up cookies for the rest of your life? Thank you!xx

Claudia! I'm so glad that my honesty helped you in some small way. We all have enough stress in our lives. The stress to be perfect doesn't need to rear its ugly head too, right!? Thanks so much for the feedback. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back. Still getting the hang of things. Good luck in your studies! xo

Amazing! lol I'm studying in holistic nutrition, and it's hard sometime to not shame yourself after a piece of pizza, or when you're having a bowl of icecream (that you eat 1-2 times in a year) When someone asks you what you're studying in... -.- Lol It's all about choosing your battle, and know what's right and wrong for your body (and your mental health too...cue chocolate almonds! ) :p

Haha! Love it, Emilie. The more of us who can be honest and real - the more inspiring we can be! Good luck in your studies! Enjoy your (dark) chocolate almonds. ;)

I used to be a skinny model and I was able to eat as much as I want. There was a medical accident and my body system was damaged very very bad. I don't have fast metabolism anymore at least for years more. I was always in a good shape whatever I eat but now it's not. so, Especially my belly fat and gut fat is dangerous level although I eat less than before so it means my body type is changed (slow metabolism, slow digest, like elder or people who originally had very slow metabolism). Also, I can exercise limited amount only.(walk and stretching. maybe muscle exercise not hard for short as possible.). I eat 1~4times a day so it was it was irregular. If I don't eat carb, sort, sugar a lot(like chinese food or korean) I feel down but I regret every time after eat a lot as digestion is slow. But I started to change from today. My weight is always 13kg above compared before the accident. My stomach nerve was damaged too so it's slow and always out. But when I eat less for long, it goes back in quite a bit. I just wonder what kind of eating style would be good for me and how often too.. If it is and opinion, I would appreciate. thank you for reading!

I am new to to the Holistic nutrition. So far from everything I have learned I am in love with it. I have never been much of a "Fad diet" person and this feels different. I have looked into Veganism (I like meat and have started to raise my own). Vegetarianism (again I like meat). Paleo ( the Paleo world was to widely varied for me, Which region to pick from? Tropical, desert, coastal?). Blood type (to crazy). But this covers all of me my mental and physical self. It feels good! Thank you for your videos and helping us all learn.

very pragmatic view . None of us can eat only what we know to be the right foods all of the time . Much healthier to acknowledge our occasional lapses and be confident in the knowledge that the majority of the time we eat the best foods for good health. Great jumper by the way ...

Liked the video and the vulnerability! Good to have people doing this more often. I am the person in my social circle that doesn't ever eat anything wrong so when I do....theres am OMG moment! Pretty funny how people look and perceive this type of stuff. Anyways I'm going to create a video and podcast for the same reasons once I get more of a following. Thanks!

I hope u will answer this questionnn, what is the difference between a Holistic Nutritionist and a Dietitian? Thank you xx
@_its.dahlia2222
@_its.dahlia2222 5 лет назад
I'll give you my take: The differences are vast, but mainly, the RD is licensed by a state and is allowed to work in hospitals and operate independently where the RD can accept insurance and devise meal plans. Because the RD's largely follow the food pyramid, they don't necessarily provide the best advice for living longer, but rather, serve as an extension on the allopathic advice that the MD provides. Have you ever visited a hospitalize person and seen what meals the patients are eating? Garbage! Well, those meals are approved by dietitians. "Holistic Nutritionist" is largely a made up phrase. That being said, if a person already have a medical diagnosis and wants to reverse that condition, you are likely to have greater success working with a holistic professional. There is a very respected "governing" body called the NANP that sets out the standard that holistic practitioners should meet, and it also provides a mechanism for board certification. These graduates would be my first choice in seeking nutrition advice. The use of the title "nutritionist" is regulated in most states. Even doing "assessments," a major tool for the holistic practitioner, is against the law in some states. Crazy right? Interestingly, that RD governing body (AND) doesn't have a problem with that. It is the state legislatures that sets these rules. Nutritionists, like RDs, can be licensed in most states and also accept insurance like an RD. Historically, the nutritionists were provided a higher degree of clinical training in human nutrition which was more focused on whole nutrition, as oppose to a government approved program. There are a couple of independent association the provide certifying standards for nutrionists.

@@_its.dahlia2222 amazing and perfect analogy, you just gave me THE perfect answer that i was looking for and the drive to go for a holistic and not a simple nutrition degree and by the way what you said about the hospital food is completely true i thought i was the only one thinking that! thank you so much

Hi, I'm a new subscriber. I just changed my mind about becoming a RD once I found out that in 2024 a Master's degree will be required. I love nutrition, and I really want to work in this field. I'm only a Sophomore in Highschool at the moment, but my plan so far is to join the airforce at 18. I want to work in an area in the airforce that has to do something with food, diet therapy, etc. Could you explain to me the education requirements to become one. Do you need a bachelor's degree...? Do you need to be accredited by NANP? Please help me figure this out, thank you.
