GREAT job in taking care of the mama that was low on calcium!! You really do catch those fast!! Thanks again for both you and your Father showing us all about dairy farming! We love watching your videos on our large screen TV in the living room with the family!! Your programs are better than regular TV!! Take care and God bless!!
Good comment and very true. I farmed for half my life; then changed to office work. No matter what happened at the office, every day was an absolute piece of cake, compared to the farm work!
I have a 4 year college degree in Zoology from Louisiana State University. I took "Dairy Science" as an elective. We took a field trip to see the bulls and the cows. We learned all about milk. I had no idea there is so much to know about milk. Thank you for all you do to provide milk for us. - TAV ♥️🇺🇸🌎👍🐄
Eric, your videos are always so detailed and very enjoyable to watch for a non Farmer. I used to think of a Dairy Farmer as a one job, after watching all the farm duties. I have learned you and your dad, have endless tasks to do, every day.
"my wife finds liquid manure absolutely disgusting." queue 45 seconds of continuous liquid manure handling shots... I saw that smirk on your face when you said that...
I agree Eric with your wife. It’s overwhelming to watch all the manure and I guess you get used to the smell? And it’s a natural occurrence in humans and animals but.... yikes. Hopefully the 11th generation dairygal or dairyman will be able to carry on the chores!!!
Eric, Thank you so much for sharing a day in the life. I sincerely appreciate the time, effort and energy it took. Great to see your dad up and around and back to close to 100%. God Bless your families.
@@colinjudd2599 My Dad and Uncle got out of the Dairy Business when I was around 3 or 4. I miss it myself, seeing the easy-to-work dairy cows and being in the milking stalls. But if I ask my dad, he says that he does not miss it, especially getting home at 11:00 at night. haha
Good to see your working day, much as mine was when I finished in 2005 after 35 wonderful years working with dairy cows. Keep kind and they keep you well. Regards from UK.
The twenty "thumbs Down" are perhaps not interested in watching video examples of hard work, good ethics, honest personal behavior, family values over acting out, and maturity that is beyond the age of most young men of his generation. I for one could not pull the load but I appreciate that we have such an example before us. Many thanks, inspiration comes from perspiration and you have that in spades. Bob Jarrard
@@williamklop2173 most likely. Seems like they spend wayy too much of their free time seeking out RU-vid videos just to bombard the comments with their shit.
I miss my Grandma's and Dad's harm in Poland, I came here when I was 9 yrs. old. Watching you today made almost cry, living in city in Canada made me realize how lucky were were and you are.
From a French dairyfarmer : congratulations for the perfect work that you and your family do every days . I have some problemes to understand when you speak so fast, but I get addict 👍
@@HappyHarryHardon Its bad that I have been around it so much, just by seeing what it looks like I can smell it. It is funny but sad that I can do that. Growing up on a farm does it to you haha.
@@jamesarmstrong1641 Heck, I was a city kid but friends had farms and cattle and were butchers. When people say manure stinks I say it smells like money.
Another great video! Having dairy farmed in the past I can honestly say, "dairy farmers do more before 9:00 AM than most people do all day." And this video proves it
Glad to see that your dad is getting along with his shoulder good. Your dairy farm and the way that you and your dad manage it is awesome . I was offered to take over the family dairy farm 30 years ago. I turned it down and it is the biggest regret I have in my life. I appreciate you and what you do. Thanks Eric
People that were raised like way you were (working for what you want, hard workers) seem to make the most genuine and respectful men. Your dad did well.
Honestly calcium ivs are the best. It’s so amazing to see a cow who has milk fever and can’t move get up and be totally fine 5 minutes after she gets the iv.
@@alexm566 basically when a cow comes into milk (when she has her calf) she can have a lack of calcium because she is using so much of it. The treatment is an iv drip of calcium.
I love to see a cow just calmly mosey on past the farmer vigorously handling a big stick. Shows they have no fear and are cared for with kindness at all times.
Ah yes, the good ole days, I remember going up in the silo to move things down as the level got lower. So many memories, right down to emptying out the boots when you are done.
I have learned so much from watching your videos. I can’t believe the amount of work y’all Do on a daily basis. Your love and level of care, and dedication you display towards your animals is heartwarming. God bless you all.
What a fantastic example of excellent animal husbandry a true pleasure to see. Your farm yards, silage clamps and buildings are an absolute pleasure to see how well maintain they are. Keep the updates coming, we love them here in Bristol - UK
My Dad sold our dairy in August 1973. I was beginning my jR year if HS and I was the last of 11 children. It is Amazin how much has changed in milking process in about 50 years. Technology plays such a big part now. I find it all so interesting. Milking is hard work then and now. I enjoy your videos very much. I can’t say that I miss milking but watching other people work is fun.
@@perisher1976 been there, done that. No wish to do it again. Ready to play gramma to my 8 grandchildren. I’ll just enjoy watching other people milk cows.
After watching the corn and soy bean farmers, it's easy to see how much more work and dedication you all have!! But seeing the care and excellent conditions you have for your cows, it makes us realize how great the American dairy farmers do and why we can enjoy milk every day! THANK YOU for all your work plus the videos!!
Thanks for the COME ALONG, very much enjoyed. Reminds me "Bach In The Day".. 80 years ago.... Enjoy your trip to the mountains, get spiritually and physically refresher....Stay Safe...
Hats off to all of you,it's an eye opener to see the actual amount of work you all do in looking after the cattle,if only everybody had that same work ethic. Great viewing.👍👍
I really enjoy your videos. I was told once "There is always something to do on a farm". So far that seems to be true. Enjoy your church weekend, be safe!
You make taking care of your cows look like a full time job. It makes it easy to understand why lots of farmers sell off all their animals & turn to raising grain. !
Your wife watches all your videos. Can’t stand liquid manure and you show extra liquid manure!😂😂😂Good relationship for sure! (FYI her being a nurse, I get why she hates liquid manure. Been there.🤢🤢)
When the frost started coming out of the ground (We lived on gravel roads) I used to take our 1952 John Deere A and a hay wagon and it was the school bus. Some times another student would use their tractor/wagon and drive.
@bill slayton I hear you. Mile south of Dad's there was a bridge made entirely of old railroad ties. Made it interesting to haul hay wagons and chopper boxes over. (In northern WI)
@@anthonyhengst2908 Back in the 60's my Mother and Grandmother took the tractor and wagon the 1/2 to get to where the car was parked on the pavement. The tractor was confiscated when they were in town. Grandma was not happy about the walk home.
Tom from tom pemberton farm life channel, mentioned you in his sunday video. Great dairy farmer in the UK. He calls the liquid manure liquid gold because its free fertilizer and its amazing on the grass.
I agree its liquid gold, but we know its anything but free! The food we give our cows and livestock cost... but its sure cheaper than chemical fertilizer
TY for doing a great job sharing your gift of dairy farming, sharing what "real life" is all about, educating us!! Milk fever...and you are IV experts too!! YOU GO!! Your wife should be soo proud :) Prayers from the MO heartland... Nice Mouse hunt!! 🤣
We love your channel! Always looking forward to your next video. You're inspiring our 13 year old to want to be a dairy farmer. He's a BIG fan and is excited to get his t-shirt in the mail!
I absolutely love watching your videos and how much you and you Dad care about your 🐄 and dogs, I live in the UK and there is a farm called Pemberton farm, Tom(the son) does you tube videos and he mentioned you a few times, you make know of him, Tom and his Dad run the farm but as you have more animals and Pemberton's are a lot smaller it's fascinating to watch you both, brilliant
I'm glad to see you're wearing a mask with all that shavings dust. You can order them from Amazon or you should be able to get them at your local Hardware Store. The dog is so cute getting the mouse. I can sit here all day watching your videos. I grew up on a farm and it's amazing how things have changed for the better, for the cows and the farmer. Great job, keep up the good work.
I was surprised when he said the truck. I thought for sure there would at least be three other trucks available on a farm that size. Even if they weren't farm trucks but just basic personal trucks.
Another great video. Glad to see you wearing mask for those dusty jobs. Keep it up. Great channel and great people. You are a credit to the dairy industry for sure. BTW... your wife must just "love" washing your clothes! lol
There is something satisfying about cleaning crap away. When you wash it away almost therapeutic. Learnt something new about the cold ears as a symptom for milk fever.thankyou. At a later stage of milk fever the ears do droop . I guess one of the biggest advantages of indoor cows is that they get touched around the head more frequently. You also inject into the ear pocket where as we inject into the tail pocket as that is the area most presented to us. Town must be pretty close for your Dad to pick you up in the tractor lol in our rural town mechanical workshops have the odd loan car they let you use until they have finished with your vehicle.
I work a 9-5 corporate job and I’d much rather live this life. You’re blessed to have all of that. Owning land and animals has now become a luxury of the ultra wealthy. Funny how life works
We always put the calcium in the vein under the belly, they’re really big and easy to find. Nice to see you guys do it differently, we farmers keep learning every day and learn from each other! Nice video man
can i just say that i love all the artistic camera angles you choose, it really shows how much effort you put in your videos and don't just "point and shoot" :)
I will lift up my eyes to the hills - From where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord , Who made heaven and earth. (Psalms 121:1-2) Have fun up on the mountain and God bless!
Enjoyed as always, my wife watched with me she found it very interesting. I have worked in a support industry for years and really enjoyed being able to show her what what you do. Your animal husbandry skills are super!
Been missing your videos. I don't know what it is about them...I think it's your work ethic and how you work on such a big level with feedings, milkings, crops, etc. I'm a CNC Machinist by trade so I can really appreciate hardwork lol plus milk is awesome!! Keep up the amazing content and stay safe out there.
I would have to carry around a check list of everyday gotta do’s and an additional page for stuff that pops up gotta do’s..or everything would fall apart.
