Mike Tucciarelli modified his 2023 Ford Maverick hybrid to be a real-life Tonka truck! From the bright yellow color and Tonka decals to oversized tires, custom rims, a sports bar, mud flaps, running boards and custom interior modifications, it's not hard to see why Mike's little truck captured first place in the Maverick class at the 2023 Ford Nationals in Carlisle, Pa.
Oh, and did we mention this incredible truck also gets 56 miles per gallon? Unbelieveable!

I want to know if this guy just coasts the whole way to work, because my hybrid gets the advertised 42mpg and I drive fairly slow, making using of the regen and electric engine any time it’s possible.

No idea. I did reconfirm the figure with him but that is specific to his work commute, I’m sure terrain, speed and temperature all play a role.

Mpg's surprises me on all my drives. 28-31 days in-between fills. 20-minute work commute , 7 stop signs perfectly aligned for regan, 40 pmh posted speed limit and different route home utilizing terrain, still 7 stop signs perfectly aligned. Once, I thought I could outsmart the computer and get better mpg's than it, so utilizing 360/Assist/Acc plays a part in the 56 as well. GREAT truck.
