In my opinion, he is one of the most underrated singers of our or any generation. Just a very gifted musician who does nothing but perform his music. Not much flash, just pure art.
Underrated? Nah man you just discovered him recently. Hence your comment. If you were around in the 80's . You wouldn't be saying your "OVER USED Phrase on the internet" . Underrated? Nah, in your case. Undiscovered till recently.
When I was in my early 20s circa 1980 whenever I heard his instantly backing vocals on any records ( Toto, Christopher Cross, Joni Mitchell etc) I recognised the albums he contributed on as a hallmark of quality and I bought these albums. Of course, his contributions on Steely Dan, Doobie Bros or collaborations with the likes of Patti Labelle or James Ingram and others goes including solo offerings goes without saying
Michael MaDonald is a fine looking man. He is very talented and his voice was everywhere in the 70’s and 80’s. Grew up with his music & this brings back memories.
There will never be another voice like Michael McDonald. I get so many flash backs of the 70's and 80's listening to him, it almost makes me cry. Getting old sucks!
those 123 people who clicked on thumbsdown are either tone deaf or have no music in their souls geez....how can your mouth not drop with this performance?
If heaven had a lead vocalist in their choir, it would be Michael McDonald. Sometimes I'm speechless. What a voice. What a gift to this world. Thank you Michael, for sharing your incredible talent with all of us.
Michael McDonald is a legend. From Doobies to his solo acts. He is pure gold. A voice range and style from rock to soul. He is diverse, talented and an incredible performer.
This Man is so smooth and classy...I love the way the audience cheer when he starts TOO sing this great song...what a great reaction from the crowd.....
This song takes me back to when great music was made not manufactured. For any Baby Boomer we had great times from the music of this era. Michael since your days with the Doobie Bros, thank you for creating timeless music.
HighSpeedNoDrag He is one of my favorite voices, but I still think a couple of notes are not reached. No I can't sing like Mike McDonald. I was watching some car pool guy video singing with stars like Rod Stewart, Maria, Adelle, soul comes in all shapes and sizes and colours.
This is THE BEST!! I have to admit that M McD is THE best blue-eyed soul voice on the planet..love his soulful jazz arrangements too..you don't hear this kind of music anymore..energetic..authentic...done with passion.and spirit ...and his work is CONSISTENTLY good.(awesome sax ). Wow !!
Unmistakable. Sang with The Doobie Brothers, Kenny Loggins, Steely Dan....almost every Christopher Cross song, Toto, and now singing with Donald Fagen again and Boz Scaggs in the band The Dukes of September. Once in a lifetime voice.😇
I was surprised to find out that he is just now only 60 years old. Didn't realize how young he was when he did all of these songs. I guess because of the gray hair and beard. Anyway this guys voice has just always been awesome. I wish they made music like this today.
The only man I ever loved the only man I ever loved so much and then he disappeared. This is just sad.❤❤❤❤😢😢😢❤❤❤❤ thanks for the song Micheal. I love it. I love you and you’re just terrific guy. Thanks.❤
I have adored this man's voice since I first heard him with the Doobie Brothers, and have followed him in concerts with them and on his own. He has such a natural groove and his vocal tone is like honey.
Kathleen Olsson-Nelso69n what can you say the sweetest voice, the classiest man, let's just pray he keeps making great music for the next hundred years. John Prater
how this giant ended up with the terrible Doobie Brothers crap music. He also was in on the Aja album by Steely Dan. You can hear his voice sticking out over anyone's. Pure unadulterated magic. John Prater
michael mcdonald is a rare and true artist....his voice is as unique as his songwriting ability ....he writes and sings with incredible passion...... contagious passion....he is truly my favorite artist of all time ....and for all time....we are all blessed to be able to hear music of this caliber....a voice of this caliber will never come along again ... i will forever be listening....
It’s so awesome to get to be a part of the concert. I went to very few as an 80’s teen as it just wasn’t possible financially. How amazing to be living in this day that tech allows you to press a few buttons & be center stage with a band like DD.
This is one singer who has not lost his voice one wit. Sounds just like he did when he sang his first hit. Now THAT is talent!!! He's still easy on the eyes, aka eye candy with brains. I am female just using my guys comment ID. LOL
@Michael McDonald ♪ I am gobsmacked hearing from you. Love your voice and am an 80's girl from KC, KS. Getting ready to listen to some of your songs on this site. lol You bring back beautiful memories. Thanks for all you are and who you are.
How many of us can say we had some influence on a generation? How many of us can say we will leave a legacy to where we will live on beyond our time on this earth? Your reach is beyond more than you may realize compared to the average person. You made music without electrionic voice effects. It was talent not gimmicks that made singers like you successful.
We are not the "dinosaurs" of music but what keeps what is left of good music. Years 60/70/80, having idols like this makes us much better day by day. Thank you Michael!
This has to be one of the best live versions of this song hes done! Simply and amazing talent with a timeless feel. Just the best! Can't wait for him to return to Massachusetts.
