Makita guy here . . . usually. No Red Team tools at all, but . . . Ended up with the M18. Had the Mak had the folding handle, I'd have likely stayed faithful. But it didn't. Also I am not above abusing the mower from time to time in thick weeds and blackberry canes on my very rural property and there are videos to the effect the M18 is significantly more powerful than the Mak. So far, I have not been bothered by any of the dislikes here. I likely will never use the bag. May or may not use the rear discharge chute. So far I am not inclined to do so. Mulcher only, me. Will certainly never use the LEDs. Happy so far. This replaces a 21 year-old Craftsman that was still running well but it was manual push only. I have a couple of hills and my 80 year old knees just weren't happy pushing a mower up those hills any more. Day after the Milwaukee arrived, I sold the gas mower as space is at a premium in my shed and it seemed unlikely I'd ever use the gas mower again. I have real doubts that switching from gas to batts is a good idea from the POV of longevity and $$. But the electrics certainly win for convenience. It will certainly hurt when the day comes to replace those big 12 a-h batteries!
I have both the Milwaukee and Makita. I have not experienced any issues with either mower. The Milwaukee is more powerful with better battery life in my experience. I use the rear discharge chute for the Milwaukee. The wife cuts our back yard and I cut our front yard. Both mowers retain grass under the deck. We use plastic putty blades to scrape the grass off after each cut. Both mowers needed the blade sharpened.
Good review! Love mines! The transmission/safety detect was weird but I got used to it. The battery’s wasn’t a issue with me cause I have 2 more 12 amp batteries to accompany the ones that came with it.
I like that you can use the self propel or you can use it As regular push mower I also like the rear shoot discharge compared to side shoot I Also like the self propel is the rear wheels not the front wheels
@@wuhank it takes me about 2 hours But mine is more Rapidly growing weeds I have to cut Every few days And I normally am to busy so they end up being 6 feet tall or more when I cut them once a Month when it's rainy season
Mine only works if I put two cable ties on the handle to keep the bail from recessing. Goes two feet then stops otherwise. Milwaukee is not working with me and wants me to take this BRAND NEW MOWER to a service center. Seriously, it had this problem right out of the box. Very disappointed.
Awesome video, Mark! One other thing that I am not a fan of is the mulching plug. There's quite a bit of grass coming out of that mulching plug. I mostly mulch my grass and the amount of grass leaking out of that plug is frustrating. I have 2 pairs of 8.0 HO batts as a back-up but never had the need to, the pair of 12.0 HO Batts are pretty plenty for finishing my lawn for normal 1/3 of grass height cutting.
