My bf and I just broke up 2 days ago 🙁 taking this time to spend more time with God and to wait for His timing. Trusting that there is someone out there for both of us!

i'm 27 male and never been in a relationship before. I used to be sad being alone but this pandemic has taught me to really like being alone. I also deleted all social media apps and have noone to talk to besides family.

I keep getting asked if I’m dating and I’m just like noooo. I haven’t tried dating apps and I don’t really want to. I’m not in a place where I’m looking for someone to be with and I’d rather the connection just happen when I meet someone and we get to know each other. That would be more difficult with covid but I’m enjoying doing my own thing and being able to go to new places and met a bunch of new people, guys and girls, without having to worry about how a SO would feel about it. It wouldn’t have been so easy for me to just up and go to Colorado for three months last year if I were in a relationship. I’m enjoying the connections I’m making meeting new people in general. I’ve always loved that. I also find that meeting single people is a bit more fun and you get to know them more during 1 on 1 conversation. Most people I’ve met in relationship has there SO with them all the time making it more difficult to build that initial relationship. I’m also still figuring out what I want to do and where I want to be before getting in a relationship and having that be a factor for staying somewhere.

I wonder if people chooses to be single because they are tired of pressure from society or generally don't feel comfortable with someone because promoting "being alone isn't lonely" is bs imo. Being single isn't for everyone as much as being in a relationship is not for everyone. You know both sides don't promote as much that's important: balance. If you find a healthy balance of being single and actively dating, you'll find happiness within yourself along side forming a bond with an significant other. Being too picky and every person you've date meet your standards is a poor excuse to say "I'm stay single and be happy with myself" but then you proceed to complain about being single and finding self happiness is hard and boils down to not having balance. I get it: we all had bad partners bad experiences, bad dating lives but if you let those be the reason to remain single and promote it, then I'm sorry, you are just living in self denial and won't grow because let's say a early 20 year old stopped dating. They focus on their efforts in personal growth and build a successful life and they are in their 30s ready to date now they are socially stunted because they don't know what they like in a person in a person or how to properly trust a person because they haven't done any trials and errors and decided to think to themselves "nobody deserves me" when actuality, you don't deserve anyone due to your lack of interaction. But I'm not saying keep dating in hopes you'll find someone if you have a streak of dating bad people. You need balance in your mind, heart and soul. In other words: GO OUTSIDE (when the pandemic is over) and stop watching these "I'm single and happy" videos when they keep showing how its actually sad how their lives are. I mean I like her apartment but if this is her attitude before the pandemic, I don't want a her kind of single life. I rather go to bars or events and strike out every time than do what she does because at least I'm building my social skills and have stories from my encounters. I met Dave Chappelle because I went outside! If I stayed indoors, I'd never have met my idol. So again: balance ;)

Used to be alone for many years. Not a good feeling. Very lonely, nobody to share my happiness with, only can do singles activities. Very boring life. Getting married and having own kids is definitely the right thing to do. Make sure your standards are not too high. Everybody got their own standards. Nobody is perfect for each other.
