Shes russian! her English is not so good, so she uses translator instead, which mistranslates sometimes sadly

That's a given. Most RU-vidrs try to reach other countries and use AI to do voice changes, which is the best way to reach a better algorithm.

Yes, I have a friend who took Japanese lessons for a year and she understood nothing. She ended up using an app that translates

If you have a newer Samsung phone it comes with a translation AI. When using it you can speak in English and it displays the translation which shows up in Japanese, you can have a conversation as works the same for translating Japanese to English. The displays show up on one screen so there is no need to switch back and forth. There are also other languages available such as Korean, Spanish, Italian, etc.
