I am not the biggest fan of slipjoints..but there are a few....and I am looking more and more into this category. As for the strops....For years I used the BRKT stropping compounds. The white one was my favorite. It is the finest but I found it suited my needs best. I also used the black(coarse) and the green(medium)...however....about a year back I started looking harder into diamond and cbn compounds for stropping. After many many trial and errors(with the ones could purchase here) I found that the DMT compounds, for me, work best on leather and the CBN compounds(from Hapstone) work best on balsa wood. This is my personal preference as I do look for good feedback rather than the fastest results. I have been playing for a good while with using really low pressure while sharpening so this will change things a bit, of course. You live in the US if I am not mistaken. Look into "Gunny Juice". On balsa, leather or nano cloth, everybody seems to say good things about it. See also Gunny's sharp talk. he has lots of videos on this subject because, if i am not mistaken, he makes it! Nothing against classical compounds(wax based). Those are good and they work for almost all steels. But once you try the diamond/cbn compounds and ee how quickly they cut and the level of aggression they leave, even the finest edges with...it does become addictive! Even if you use them on "regular steels" i think you will like the results. If there's something you'd like to know about...don't hesitate to ask...to be perfectly honest, a few years ago I also did not know all the differences...i still don't. But if i can help...i will do so gladly!
@@SpartanJohns Thanks for all of the info. I have the white, black and green Ruge but will check out the others. I heard that you can strop on blue jeans too
