Today we talk to special guests Bennett and Becky Borden as they share about their journey through the paradox of being members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and their experiences with same sex attraction. We go over how they were able to come back to the church, and share insights on how to include those who are living in the paradox.

I can’t thank you enough for sharing your message Bennett and Becky. Not only have you reminded me how important it is to love the way Jesus loves, but you have helped me to feel more deeply of my Heavenly Father and Savior’s love for me and all of God’s children. Your message is so important and needed in society and in the church! Thank you for your honesty and bravery in sharing your story. 💛

Thank you for sharing your journey. The Spirit was so strong during this conversation. So beautiful. The “ in or out of the church” phraseology has always bugged me. I will be inviting the sinner to dinner (me included) from now on.

I'm flowing over with gratitude to both of you for teaching me today. I can't wait to "bring snacks" for my fellow travelers on this messy, bumpy path we're all on. Bless you for your courage and for being so absolutely delightful. Keep teaching. We're listening. (And thank you for the free passes ;)

Becky and Bennet, I love your guidance - Not because I have loved you - As I have loved you. Thank you for bringing that concept to me. :) And loving and not judging. As a Mom - parent, I think I have chosen to guide and try to correct what I considered to be misdeeds. I have praised, but there were a lot of times I was correcting. Though that is necessary, I also think that is part of a parent's job. As a friend, it is NOT my job. You didn't say that, but that is what I feel I learned from you. It shouldn't matter who the person is, we are to love, again, AS Christ loves. Thank you for the time you have spent sharing your journeys. It has been well worth my time listening to you.. And I will probably listen several more times. Thank you.

I am totally speechless! I couldn't love this episode more. This has been an answer to two separate issues. I have been praying and wrestling with God for years around loving my family members who choose to live differently. Your words in combination with other sources have confirmed to me what actions I need to take. You have also provided answers to a second prayer around understanding same sex attraction. It has been an issue I have put on a shelf to think about "some day" when I had more answers. Your wisdom applies to so many different topics. Thank you for providing the direction and insight I have needed to make a course correction in long held "false traditions".

Conflicted... I don’t know how I feel about this... I feel that sinning is sinning and I am not sure how I would approach this??? If my brother was addicted to meth, should I continue to support him??? I don’t know, it’s such a weird paradox...
@CJ-oc2ff
@CJ-oc2ff 3 года назад
Being gay and in a gay marriage is not a sin. It’s nothing like being addicted to meth. A person loving another person isn’t a sin. It makes no sense to compare it to drug abuse.
@sionel2604
@sionel2604 3 года назад
@@CJ-oc2ff I disagree... being gay is not the sin, it’s having sexual encounters with a person of the same sex... like, you can still feel addicted the meth, but it’s not a sin until you actually partake of the drug...
@CJ-oc2ff
@CJ-oc2ff 3 года назад
@@sionel2604 Having sexual encounters with a person of the same sex is not a sin either. The sin is the Mormon Church making people's lives unnecessarily harder by telling LGBT people they need to be celibate in order to get into heaven. This is wrong especially since the Church's claim to Divine Authority have been thoroughly debunked. They need to stop telling people they speak for God when that is clearly not the case. Remember when being in a same sex marriage was automatic apostasy and that even gay people's kid's couldn't be baptized? They said this was revelation from the Lord, then three years later do a complete 180. For 150 years they said that being black was a curse from God. These were supposed prophets of God saying this and contrary to what the Church says now it was declared doctrine by the first presidency at the time. It's also in the Book of Mormon for crying out loud. But now, according to the Church, dark skin isn't a curse. Same thing with Polygamy. Brigham Young declares its required to get into the celestial kingdom and that Adam is God. Now all of that is heresy. All those other prophets were wrong, but I should believe the prophets of today? In other words, how do I know the prophets of today are telling truth when the previous prophets were wrong? Why should a gay person or any person live their life dictated by these men, if they are proven to not actually speak for God, time and time again?

So glad to hear their explanation of the 3 separations - God, gospel, church and the church is connected but has leeway to move around and make changes as needed. But, God and His gospel is still true!!! I love this explanation!!!!!
