Thank you for sympathizing and being real! I'm a Respiratory Therapist at night, and also a Commercial Real Estate Loan Processor by day for 4+ hours. Dreaming of having an art business...I picked up the daytime part time job so It have more $ for infrastructure for my art business. But now I don't have time to paint......☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️ Some day....
I empathize with that! I know it can be frustrating though that you can’t make the art you want to while working and homeschooling. I also believe in having financial stability before taking big creative risks, so you’re doing the right thing.
@@EasySundayClub yep, it's always a good idea not to commit financial suicide while trying to build your dream business .🤣 Patience is a HARD game to play..... I'll just keep building my portfolio and learn, watch you in the few free minutes I have. ...even if that's at 2:39 am 🤣🤣
I really admire your drive to grow your business while raising a family at the same time, the advice you give is well-balanced and realistic, and has really made me think much more clearly about what I want to do. I'm 28 years old and beginning to take my first steps in my creative journey :D
Thanks so much for your honesty. Love your channel and all the helpful insight you give. So glad you have chosen to invest in your family and stay true to your core values. You have really inspired me.
Congrats on baby #2! I was skeptical of clicking on a greeting card how-to tutorial with a man and baby but I’m glad I did! I’ve been pouring over many of your videos all week long and appreciate the insightful videos on developing an artistic career and growing a creative business. Understand the Asian pragmatism that you both have too 😄
Thanks for posting this! As a mom of a toddler in my 40s -I can totally relate and loved your nest analogy. I'm glad you both slowed down and are choosing to take care of yourself. Self care is important and this video is a great reminder to pace ourselves. Love your content and congratulations!
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you guys! Glad you're doing well and taking care of yourselves. Don't worry about the content, we'll be here when you're ready. 🤗
Congratulations! And thanks for the authenticate conversation. I'm a realist as well, and it's refreshing and encouraging to hear the good and not-so-good side of a growing creative business. It helps to ground my expectations. So thank you.
Thanks for sharing this. I appreciate the honesty and discussion of the struggle. I am an artist/illustrator with a full time day job that required an investment in higher education. I also have a supportive wife and a 7 year old son who requires a present Father. Something that stands out is that I can just slow down and not have to stop totally and remember that this is all part of the process. Thanks for mentioning taking care of both mental and physical health. A good cup of coffee and routine really works for me. Congratulations on your success.
Thank you for the kind comment. Just had a cup of coffee while watching Book of Boba Fett. Now time to take the kiddo to the park to burn some energy :)
Thanks for sharing this, I appreciate the content you share. I am slowing working my way through your videos and find the "how to" photoshop videos to be particularly helpful but it's also nice to hear about your personal experience. I think A LOT of us can relate to these real life struggles- how to balance personal needs, family, kids, finances, work etc. It's a daily struggle! haha Congratulations on your recent pregnancy and best of luck to you both!
Thank you Jen. Checked out your art. It is so scenic and lovely. Fyi We lived in portland for five years and love ocean rolls from sparrow bakery in bend! Best of luck!
@@EasySundayClub I was literally eating an ocean roll while watching your video! LOL They are my favorite. Occasionally I will work from the coffee shop and enjoy an ocean roll and coffee, the best :-)
No, not too intense! Good insight into how you're not millionaires off your art like I'm sure you'd like to be doing. You're relatable, real. People like seeing honesty. 👍👍 Two thumbs up and more from me. Thank you Kathy and Nam♥️
Have you guys thought of letting someone else edit your videos to take off some of the pressure? It's one of the things I've considered - time. I work full-time, in school full-time and I'm my mother's caregiver. I don't have a ton of time to spare. TBH a side-hustle is something I literally can't afford at the moment. I dream of it and fit in my art sessions as I can but one thing I KNOW I don't have is time to teach myself editing and doing it. And I truthfully am not interested LOL. Anyway, it's a thought. I was watching another successful RU-vidr and she said the same. It takes a load off. Your physical and mental wellbeing is far more important.
Congratulations on the big news! 🍼 I’ve been binge watching all your videos in preparation for opening my new art business. You both have helped me more than you will ever know. Thank you!!
PS: Just finished watching the video, and just wanted to thank you for your honest look at your history and current life story, incl. but not limited to RU-vid. You are so much further on the journey with RU-vid than I am, but I could relate so much to how challenging it can be to find that balance - content creation, pregnant with months of bad morning sickness, working a full-time job at the same time plus a long commute, then throw in 2 moves for us too, etc. It is a challenge for sure, but like you I am trying to take the long-term view. It might be quiet on my channel right now but trying to keep the big picture in mind and know that a pause or less frequent content does not have to be forever, but a sustainable approach that adjusts with changing life situations will be the way :).
Yes sounds like I’m a couple of months behind you in the preg journey. When I first watched your video I thought, oh girl I’m RIGHT in the middle of it and it sucks lol. We also went through a big move a couple of years ago when our first kid was a year old so I understand when a bunch of life things happen at once! Taking care of our health and taking the long view is the way to go.
First of all…CONGRATULATIONS on the 2nd baby AND on the 10k subs! Also wanted to say thank you SO much for helping me out a few weeks back when I had a question about leaving my new printer while on vacation. Sounds like you were going through a lot at the moment, so it means even more that you responded and helped me out. Speaking of vacation, we were actually in Anaheim and went to the Art Supply Warehouse while we were there….I don’t know much about the LA area, but I’m guessing it’s close to you guys. OMGOSH. I would be there EVERY day if i lived that close!! 😄 Again…CONGRATULATIONS! And thank you for all the great videos!
Congratulations on your pregnancy!!! So sorry you're going through so much nausea, I had the same the entire pregnancy. Preggie pop drops helped, plus zofran prescription. I loved the video, take your time! I'm a forever subscriber (also following as Mari Cátala) and support you both in any choices you make for your future!
Zofran is a lifesaver! too bad I was too stubborn and took me 6 weeks before asking for help after trying everything. Ugh morning/all day sickness is not joke. Thank you for being a long time supporter of our channel and we’ll see you around :).
You have been my favorite youtube channel to help me with my own art prints and cards. You are very relatable and real. I have my first craft show coming up and after that I will put more focus on etsy. Congrats on the pregnancy!
I appreciate the candid talk and truly resonate with some of the elements, esp of not being able to do it all. Knowing that we all have time periods where you have to refocus your energies and thats ok!
Congratulation! I know exactly how exhausted and sick pregnancy can make a person. It’s good for you and baby to take the time at your own pace. ❤️ I do have a question about the cardstock you use. I’d like to buy it but I’m worried that my colourful artwork won’t pop on it. My art is much more saturated and bright than your beautiful watercolour designs. Does the Mohawk Linen allow for bright beautiful colours? Is it comparable to printing on fine art paper? I’ve researched and found the best cardstock should be inkjet friendly, however the Mohawk paper you suggest doesn’t specifically say inkjet on the PaperMills website, but rather uses other terms - maybe they mean the same; I dunno. I’ve spent a lot of money testing different brands like Neenah etc, but the paper sucks the life out of my work even though the reviews are excellent and touted as having excellent print. I guess we all have different expectations - haha! I’m using a Canon Pro 100 which is a high end entry level printer for art which can handle canvas etc. I’m tempted to bite the bullet and go for a higher end paper for fine arts, but boy, that will sink my profit margins. 😥
the greeting card cardstock isn’t going to print as vibrantly as art prints or fine art paper, but thats well justified imo because greeting cards are not priced to be pieces of art that last a long time. Practical advice is there is a happy medium where the quality is good/more than acceptable to customers and you can still make a living.
@@EasySundayClub Thank you so MUCH for replying. ❤️❤️❤️ Your opinion truly helps me make an informed and wiser business decision that has been bothering me for many months now. After watching more of your videos, I did eventually see a variety of your cards printed out which was wonderful to see. The colours look good and my hubby agrees! This may be the paper we’ve been looking for for so long! Thanks again! Have a blessed day!
Congratulations. Thanks about talking about this. I am at the same journey. I have 2 kids too in a middle of my art business. I'm 2 years ahead of you and starting to relaunch again. Sending you good luck.
