Me and my wife met Reaper a few years back at a small track in North Alabama. As soon as this man got out of his rig he started shaking everyone's hand taking pictures with people one of the most personable people I've met from the Street Outlaws show. Hell the exhibition show he was putting on got rained out for Saturday and instead of going home he rescheduled it for Sunday. He could have packed his stuff up and went back to Oklahoma but didn't and put on a good show. I have the upmost respect for this man not many people would do that.
All the 405 guys are amazing they all play games to win but this guy trashing everyone for clicks is wrong name 1 other person bitching and complaining like this all of the time he cries about how he has been done wrong he twists shit like the npk shit cheap didn't want any part of it for the start and of course they payed chief to show up to get the rest of the 405 to give it a shot non of them wanted to spend all year away from home unless npk could pull the crowds larg enough to pay the racers to show up Idt it was chief trying to hold the team back it was a new venture that the 405 was already crazy busy JJ crew doesn't do the npk stuff this negative shit is good for clicks but for someone that says chief is playing victim and starting drama he is in his shop working on car he has spoke on some of what was going on this version doesn't seem real in comparison what little facts have been shared and for good reason they have a show to air still they need the hype as far as JJ threatening Chief I highly doubt that since JJ and chief are so close that Chief and Jackie went and drove there cars and hung out in Vegas wtf is this guy's problem
@Ronn Sherrill thank you for saying "could have" and not "could of". I know it sounds kinda silly but it drives me insane because I'm realizing how dumbed down the next generation is getting.
I met chief at Route 66. He was great to me and my father. He was shaking hands and taking pictures. Gave a little kid his skeleton gloves. I can’t speak to any of the stuff you’re talking about. Monza was the only one who acted like he didn’t want to shake my hand. He actually looked down at my hand like “you want me to touch that”?
@@chris81983 idk if he’s like that all the time but he just had this way about him like he didn’t want to be around me. Chief was letting that same kid wear his crown. Merry bird was fantastic. Just talking like a regular guy.
All for the cameras! I have heard nothing but horrific stories by none other than the other outlaw castmates, this is literally been repeated with echoes, multiple times! You can clearly see this tension in almost every episode after the 2nd season started really. None of the cast members were happy with that boy, he got cocky, he let that fame go to his head and it's a typical story that played out in real time! I believe every word Reaper said in this video!
James, I’m very happy you said this because when I went to American Outlaws in Ennis TX in 2015 my opinion of Chief changed. He was not nice to the fans but guess who was extremely nice guy to me and talked to me when he didn’t have to and shook my hand genuinely, YOU!!!!!!! That’s why I follow you, always respect you in the comments because you were so nice to me when I came up to you while you were busting your ass to get your car ready to race . To the point that I said to you, Hey brother, Thank you for taking the time to talk me and you said, “ Hey brother it was my pleasure!” You are real and a hell of good guy. Much love and respect. Wish you the best racing again!👍👍👍
I met him in Alabama also and we talked for a long while about racing in the 80's. I had a 72 lemans mildly built but had a blast racing anyone because yes you want to win but racing is what it's all about. What a gentleman and I hate how the show portrays you sometimes. I know you will you keep it real no matter what. Keep making licks my man. Be safe and God bless
I poured concrete at Reapers home and he was a really cool and very real guy. He ran the skidsteer and was dragging mud. He has plenty of funds to have the job done completely by someone else, but he chose to do work too. This dude is for real!
The Max Headroom reference was f-n priceless. Rofl As for the story on Chief… I believe you tell the truth cuz that’s who you are and don’t give a sh*t what anyone else thinks. Absolutely luv’d this one!
lets talk to all your ex friends from last 10 years and I bet they say you screwed them over... known liar and cheater here calling the kettle black....
Who cares if he was on pain pills everyone addicts mess up..Chief is a good guy done good things..reaper your not what you seem and trust me buddy u know exactly who I am so stop action like chief is shit and your so perfect how many times did u walk away from a race?
Just watched , Reaper your stock just went way up with me man , for having the balls to tell it like it is and call Chief out for what he is ! I believe everything you said man , Have been watching the show for years and always felt like Chief was always making up the rules to suit him
When was the last time you heard chief mention reaper? Yet this fool can't keep his fucking mouth shut. Complaining like a little bitch. Can't keep another man's name out of his mouth. Pathetic. Not sure how that raises someone's stock
Shawn ruled the list, until he did not. Dave ruled the list, until he did not. Chief ruled the list, until he did not. Ryan rules the list, until... Did Reaper ever rule the list? Chief won an NPK event the first time he tried it, at a track where his combination was at a major disadvantage. Has Reaper ever won and NPK event? I have no illusions regarding Big Chief. Like everyone else in this world, he's going to look after himself first. That said, I'll take Reaper's stories with a grain of salt, but will enjoy his take on the whole situation.
Reaper has no reason to lie. The guy is always the same F5 tornado he always is. I respect that about him. However I know everyone has their own perspectives on situations. But reaper has always been the outsider looking in plus he has nothing to loose. Winning races has ZERO to do with the business of film making.
I don’t think you have to “rule” an event or a list to be a good racer or to have an opinion. Actually, since Reaper hasn’t “ruled” but has tried his hardest over and over, against any oppression, he is a good source of information. Think of him as an offensive lineman- not the QB or the RB, but a guy that works hard on and off the field. I hated Reaper on the show- always getting mad, big mouth, his car seemed to only work 7 out of 10 times….but I like this portrayal of Reaper. He is a car guy, in his garage, doing car guy stuff. I also like Big Chief. He is a car guy, in his garage, doing car guy stuff. Maybe the two are just TOO alike to get along.
This has nothing to do about how successful you are in racing. Its about the attitude, being a team player. Being respectful to your friends and simply just doing your damn job. Then turning around and lying and talking bull shit. You not have ears?
@@eddieinvicta8700 Reaper made it a point to tout winning a Radial event at the first attempt, something that Chief had never done. I'm just pointing out the other side of the coin. I'm fully with you on the TV show portrayals, as these shows are exactly like all the other "Reality" shows. Conflict, particularly the back stabbing and snide, braggart commentary. I remember James' appearance on the Chief and Shawn show from the Meth Lab. The three of them were great together, with none of the BS that gets served up on 'The Real Housewives of Drag Racing'. every Monday.
@@kylestewart8354 except he does have a reason to try to disclaim everything Chief does or says. He says it himself, he doesn’t like Justin. I personally don’t believe a thing he says. He was booted from the show.
I liked chief as a racer. But I know what reaper says is fact about how he is with the fans. At lights out a few years ago he put about a 15 foot radius of tape around his car and Shawn's. Shawn came out and ripped the tape from around his car and came out to see fans and take pics. Chief stayed in his trailer the entire time and didn't talk to one fan. And no one could get close to his car at all
Ya ur right he was only paid to come to south Georgia motorsports to sit in his trailer the and race. But yet every other person was out with fans. There is a reason the track owner never had chief come back. And I never said he owed me anything. But he is nobody without his fans period. He's just a normal racer, the fans are what made street outlaws what it is today. It's not about owing anything it's about respect and acknowledging the fans where there to meet him and see him race. It's not like the car was broke and he was rushing to fix it. He literally sat in his trailer for HOURS. I could careless about meeting him. But plenty of young kids where upset. That's why I believe it was the best thing for Shawn to take over. He is the nicest most humble guy I've ever met, he will literally stand out there till 4am signing stuff and talking with fans.
He was there racing. He wasn’t paid to be there. Not every time he’s at a track is he paid to be there. That was also when he had engine problems and was having to pull the main bearings out every pass.
Man, don't think we are all stupid and that the production team does not know what they are doing. The general "smoke" around chief is well known to all that watch. Thanks for exposing the story behind it all. Great job!
Dude thanks for this post. It all makes sense now. I never thought i liked you but you keep it 100 bro i respect that. Thanks for the behind the scene look. ✌
I’m going to be totally honest. As James was saying these things I remember back and what he is saying makes perfect sense now. Shawn seen the writing on the wall and left Mid-West. He left for a reason. If you follow any of the 405’s RU-vid channels you will notice they all hang around each other, but you never see Chief in any of there videos. Shawn,Ryan,Chuck,Dave and others show up in videos a lot. But not Chief, I always wondered why?? Now we know. James has warned people for years and nobody listened. I watched Chief’s video and said the same thing James just did. If the rules was so bad then why was he the only one that left?? Why would he leave his Boy’s?? There is always 3 sides to every story. My side, Your side, and the truth. I think James just gave us the truth….
Ya I feel like maybe some points were his view on things, but if you just watch the show you could tell what was going on. When Chief separated from his wife and Jackie started coming around. You could see Shawn distance himself little by little, until he realized that Chief wasn't the same dude he was always friends with.
@@RustyWells2 I keep seeing the comments about him not being on the show in years and that's why it's not true. Did you ever sit back and think this isn't a damn show for them, it's their fn life? They lived it, this is the job they woke up and went to. TV is edited for you to see what they(production)want you to see. I hate to say this cause I've been a Chief fan from day 1, but this video ties so many things together it's crazy. I believe chief wanted to go back to some original rules for the show, but why didn't anyone back him up? Why over the past 4 or 5 years has everyone being putting distance between themselves and chief? Why when I watch everyone else from the 405 on RU-vid another driver from the 405 is around, but never chief? Why did Shawn really leave? The answer we all got was he wanted to focus on his family more and not so much the racing, but he's done more racing now than he ever did when him and chief were partners. None of that made since until this video was posted. As much as it pains me to say this, I believe reaper is telling the truth about this situation.
Reaper, you've convinced me, this video is quite enlightening.I totally believe you. I've been a big chief fan from the beginning but the things that you've brought to the light cause me to reconsider.
You’re a true gentleman. I met you at magnolia drag strip July 4 2017 and we talked for a while. You’re one of the few on this show that are real and is in for the sport. Not to be on tv and make money. Keep it up buddy.
Reaper I had a ton of respect for you before and now you have all my respect and then some. This is how people should be 1000% and no BS! I look very forward to regular small tire cars. That makes it way more relatable.
James - you received a new subscriber tonight. The first video of yours I’ve watched and I want to thank you for speaking up. I watched Chiefs video too and thought the amount of edits just felt “off”. Hope to see you back on the show sometime soon.
Welcome to the fold ! People may not like how James says it sometimes but the truth often hurts .James Gough Reaper SS is a real street racer and a better man.
I watched Chiefs video and felt bad for him. I read the comments. I was like .wow they screwed Chief. Little did I know. This man here seems to be the real deal. Telling the truth. That's something I can respect. Thats something I want to be a fan of . So im going to hit that Subscribed button , because I don't see Chief responding to any of this. Hes fooling so many subscribers. So many fans.
America's list - I thought that Chief left because, when Axman blew up because he thought Chief kept changing the rules, that Chief was afraid of getting his ass kicked by Axman if he stood up to him. I lost respect for Chief that show.
I have always thought that about Shawn I’m surprise there’s a hat big enough for Chiefs fat head to fit in isn’t it obvious you see all these other racers out there with their families and kids Chiefs with his new little toy that make sure eardrums bleed just listening to her talk
@@christopherpittman7840 Someone's a mad little butt hurt bitch LMAO, i'm sure you have enough to worry about in your own pathetic life to worry about another mans decisions.
I was at npk in boise 2021 and I was talking to murder nova and someone asked were is Chief, murder nova said exact words “fuck chief I don’t know where he’s at and i haven’t talked to him in a year”.
Late sixties pro stock was exciting because those cars were something we could relate to. They were at least based on real cars you could buy. It seems in every type of racing it starts out fun, everyone has a chance at winning. Then the high rollers step in and now you have no chance of winning unless you spend massive amounts of time and money to stay competitive.
at the track there are racer for all level. some are doing race with toyota corolla.. other go electric, other one use little honda with turbo.. on the parking we find the correct matchup.. you can have lots of fun with out spending too much.
Are you saying High Rollers are "Poison", to the Sport and "Big Chief" is "Mama's Fallen Angel, rolling the Dice of his Life. Say it ain"t soy, Kevin Bacon.
No matter anyone's hot take on the show. If you watched the show and pay attention to the changes. Everything Reaper is saying unfortunately makes sense. Ego and success change people. Chief has gotten divorced. Lost his best friendships and now he is loosing his place on the show he help start. Sounds like ego and success as come with a heavy price for chief.
love chief as a tv personality, but it all starts to make sense hearing all this shit. too bad he has seemed to forgot where he came from and why he does this
Big Men step to the line for truth, and Sir you did that tonight. Thank you for throwing your self under the bus with production for telling all us fansthe truth about all that shit. Thinking back to your first season it makes title sense why you acted the way you did.
I love the Snap On impact alongside the US General toolboxes. This man knows where to put the money. And never forget the power of editing on television guys. Good production crews have the ability to tell the story they want. It's reality TV.
@@jasonsparshott7208 Don't know how old you are, or maybe someone else who reads this will know, but are S&K tools still in business? I have quite the collection of them, very old tools but still working great!
@@docsmallblock6584 I have a bunch of s&k too, have always liked them. Very good quality imo, but I believe all their stuff is being made in china now so there goes that….
I liked Chief in the early years. But what made me dislike him was the NPK season when he would not at ball with the 405 as a team. He basically wanted to do his own thing instead of sharing information with the team. Racing is like wrestling. When you are in the match it truly is you against the opponent. But what you get from the team is information on what works against that opponent. in racing it is what works on the track. So that stunt that Chief pulled told me Chief was all about himself. Now Reaper has pretty much confirmed what I felt. Reaper gains a fan and Chief loses a fan. Still pulling for Ryan Martin!
Audience, I have been a loyal follower with the 405, since day one. I'm glad YOU aren't afraid to give us true soundbites about Chief and Discovery productions. Keep speaking the truth, and gaining respect from ALL of us spectators. We appreciate you and being OPEN. I don't like the games the 405 play against each other, and how they cut throat helping specific team members. Hey Reaper; Chief is pissed, because he cannot out run Ryan. He's NOT the king of street racing as long as Ryan has two fast cars. Stay blessed, and stay safe. PEACE!!!
Wow now it’s all making sense!!!! Thanks for sharing and letting us know the real story, I’m sure now that chief is gone some of the other 405 will start speaking up hopefully. Big fan of Shawn now I see why he left his shop he’s a real good dude all around and made the smart move.
Seems like chief has lazily given up on his list that he started which is a damn shame it’s good to see you the true OG doing it still and I hope you keep on doing it man respect!!
I’ve always loved your personality. Your never fake because of cameras being around, you tell it like it is. I was raised the same way. Always be yourself, never change your ways for anyone.
I dig your style Reaper. Met you at Bradenton motor speedway for NPK, you had your car there but wasn’t running that day. Looking forward to seeing you again and watching you run it. Be cool brudda.
Not defending anyone here just sharing my thoughts. I have depression, nasty anxiety and ADHD. I’m always like 2-3 hour late everywhere I go, it’s a battle in my brain to do things. I’m confrontational, and easily get upset when a thought I have isn’t seriously. I get convinced something is the only way to do it. It is actually quite hard to keep friendships being that way and you always have a mask on. I’ve always thought that chief had some similar mental health issues. Like when lutz crashed or beating lutz etc his reactions were very similar to how I would have reacted. Like the only person on the show who was still friends with him was Lutz and he was afraid beating lutz would make him not his friend etc. Someone being a Germaphobe would absolutely hate meeting fans and shaking hands, I get that reaction. Calling people nasty, meaning the germs not the people. I don’t know any of these people personally but I’ve enjoyed getting to know them all over 14 seasons. James I can truly say, you weren’t my favourite on the show, but I’ve enjoyed your RU-vid with you and your wife way more than the hot head they portray as or instigated the actions around you.
Well said. I share some of the same burdens in my head. Ive also noticed similar traits in others. Having these mental variances is a benefit once we figure out the equation. Its applying the benefit in a way that makes us valuable to folks is the toughest part for me. As i have commented earlier it doesnt matter how right you are if you articulate it in a negative way. And its difficult to impossible to articulate in a positive way if those ghost in our heads are not faced head on. Good luck to you sir
Sorry u suffer like thatan, I have an anxiety and a personality disorder and it sucks. The way u describe the battle.in Ur head and being late all the time is me also lol I have to get myself prepared for an appt or whatever from a week in advance. Hope u feel good today :)
I get your suffering too I have PTSD from Iraq and I get what you’re saying. I understand Chief and Reaper and Memphis in this thing. It’s not anyone against anyone until the cars line up but some seem to make it that way. Chief is one of them. He is like me I HATE CHANGE I will fight you over small stuff like to the point I have to eat with the same spoon when I use a spoon. I don’t like anything to change and he is the same way he doesn’t have and give and isn’t pliable. He is like Kamikaze Chris. Chris doesn’t like germs he’s weird about peoples smell and feet and I couldn’t imagine being like that and having people breathe through your window or always wanting a hug Picture and stuff like that. But Chief wants stuff to fit his idea of the way it should be not compromise. I hope he thinks about us the fans and gets it together and he starts talking to people like people and enjoys racing with friends again.
@@onementality9781 God works miracles in our lifes absolutely ! BUT to say that is so wrong and taking away from a real mental disorder that exsist! Please spread Gods word for what it is and not spreading false information! Have a blessed day.
While the 405 was having all their problems I gravitated over to Memphis. JJ has become my favorite. His crew is more like family than a team. I hope for the same in the future with the 405.
Thank you for sharing the other side of the Story. My gut feeling tells me you speak your, when others won’t or haven’t yet. I actually attended a NPK in Denver. im from canada have watched the show from the beging i saw so many backdoor deals chief was doing, he always came across as sneaky to me with that said im glad you brought all this shit to light
Reaper is full of it. Chief was just interviewed by Limpy. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_heefVFt6Cg.html Chief admitted, outside of “title” , he hasn’t been a true race master because of Discovery since season 3. Every racer has their own contract. Chief was ticked at the 15 minute turnaround rule because discovery wanted 12-15 races. But he had to deliver in the driver meets what DISCOVERY wanted . With every driver on contract, Chief can’t tell a racer what to do or Chief could get sued. So Reaper is full of it. Discovery chooses the roads. They have to get the insurance, the permits, etc. Watch the interview. Chief lives rent free on Reaper (JJ’s buddy) head.
Well seems to me like everybody fell into the line of just making a show instead of a documentary of street racing.. I mean is that the reason chief bounced sounds like reaper is trying to make a show instead of race? Am I wrong thinking that because the show was awesome at first but it just got more and more scripted and I quit watching!
@@seanmatal2383 I agree. But everyone dumps on Chief without knowing the reason. And Reaper can only race mods. That’s not true street. At least not here in the northeast or when I go to South Carolina. Sean gets some pay and that’s good because he’s OG. Ryan is still street at heart and even with money stays humble. Don’t forget, until Daddy Dave got $$ as solely a driver blowing up every sponsor’s vehicle, he wasn’t top 5 (or got there blowing up vehicles). Chief is making bank on the real streets. JJ’s chase is the race got old real quick and won’t be back next season. I’d say Chief will take 2 years like he did last time and Discovery will realize Sean (who I like) isn’t who people want to watch as race master.
I haven't watched the show in the longest time I see the came out with spin offs! When I was watching that reaper video it seemed he was only concerned with finding a race that "they" can film etc
@@seanmatal2383 I hear ya. I like Sean but can’t stand JJ. Haven’t watched an episode. But have watched Chiefs podcasts. Answers questions (no more about Outlaws), shows builds, etc. He smiles now. Reaper, I always felt you were an honest man watching the show and you never held back and spoke your mind and the truth and after watching this I believe it even more.
Dude got kicked off the show by the 405 for cheating lol 😂 an then even brung a race car the farm truck an Azns daily race an got told to leave yeah let’s trust this guy 😂
I have always thought James was reactive and brash but I realize there was selective editing to play it up. I'm going to say I believe what James just said was presented in a convincing manner and would explain a lot of the changes we saw. Not really heartbroken as it is just tv to me but it is weird to have such a sudden change of view.
Wow! I’ve been a huge Big Chief fan for years, but know something wasn’t adding up right lately. You can see it how he’s been left out of the “group”? Other than Lutz, and even that relationship looks sketchy on tv now. Knowing he left filming of America’s List back in January, it made me wonder why of course, but also why the 405 didn’t have his back? You’ve shared your pov, and some of it makes sense

A few years back at PRI we were walking to the Elevator in the hotel and realized Chief and his girl were walking in front of us and we ended up in the same elevator. As he walked in he pulled his hat over his face and looked down and away so we wouldn't talk to him. When the door opened at our floor and turned around and said 'You're and Asshole" and walked away. We had no intention in saying more than what's up just to be friendly. Lost all respect for him that day. Unbelievable. What is James trying to accomplish with this video? Chiefs video said nothing about James. @@jamesbranner4029 Well tbh I don't feel like this is about who has the faster car, it seems to me like its about the people behind the cars, and what it says about their character as a human being. Would you still root for a person who just stabbed you in the back or threw you under the bus or just purposely took $ out of your pocket, just because he has a fast car? Chief says non stop its all about winning to him, but at what cost? He said his self he has had to pay a heavy price for his "need to win". Seems like he lost respect as a race master, racer, and as a man. But at least he still has a fast car doesn't apply here. I think alot of these guys would rather keep their "Man" cards over having fast cars.
CHIEF is BS! FACT: I have a friend who has a very good friend, who owns an all steel '69 Camaro, here in Michigan. I used to WATCH that guy race at Detroit Dragway, all the way back in the mid 1970's---he invited the 405 crew up to Michigan, to race him. This guy was also involved in the Fastest Street Cars race down in Memphis, the first time it was run. His "rules" FOR the challenge were the same as the FSC race--drive the cars for 20-30 miles, then LINE 'EM UP! They wouldn't DO it. REAL "street" cars don't overheat from being DRIVEN ON the street--FACT... The guy I'm referring to has his own shop, been in business for YEARS. No WAY that ANY of the cars you see on the show could be driven on the street, for even five miles, without blowing head gaskets from excessive overheating!!! LOL
@HELLHOUND 71 that's if you believe the gossip of a guy that doesn't like cheif until I hear this from another 405 guy Ryan Shawn any of those guys it's all gossip! I mean I'm shocked reaper made this video considering he say dudes that talk about other dudes is bitch shit lol! I'm about 100% sure reaper wasn't their when this all went down I didn't hear cheif bad mouth 1 racer so to make videos to attack the guy sounds more like jealously than anything
@Bob Hoffman when the show started they had real street cars bro and street racing has changed from the 70s and 80s bro now you see full blown race cars on the streets racing ever watch cash days or any other RU-vid channel lol
He can't compete with them. Chief been living in his head rent free for ever. Every video I see of reaper he's crying about something. He has no other content to video but of him being butt hurt about something💩😭😭 🏁🇺🇸TEAM CHIEF🇺🇸🏁
How can we believe anything you've said? Right away he never said he was being "picked on" by production. So you calling bs on something you made up is a stretch. Then you call bs on him not racing any street when any random person has seen him make solid passes on numerous different roads. I'm only a few minutes in and so far you've embarrassed yourself. I can't trust anything you've said....
How is Chief "playing victim" when he never once said it was anything other than his own decision that took him off the show?... Unlike yourself, who blames everyone else and blames alleged behind the scenes conspiring, when not only could you never make a full hit, but you got caught blatantly cheating lol. Chief was objectively a class act about it, and basically just said that "sometimes sht doesn't work out". That he's not gonna compromise and grab his ankles for a network, for a paycheck, just to be on fake ass TV..... Dawg, you even said "Chief almost put me back in prison...", because you're just a puppet who someone else controls?
It sure seems like Shawn is a lot happier now that he’s not working with Big Chief and you never do see chief show up on one of Shawn‘s RU-vid videos like a lot of the other guys and you could tell there’s a lot of them in 405 not happy with chief at that one drivers meeting at the first of the year because he just hadn’t been around when they were out on the NPK circuit either
I never realized some of this stuff . Thank you Reaper! They really made you look like a cheater low-life the last season you raced the reaper car on the list . I always thought Chief was a fair descent race master , but you never really know : editing screens the truth sometimes. Thank you sir, I’m glad you came out with all this information. I have a whole new respect for you Sir ! Thank you👍
Thank you for always being REAL and setting the record straight. Stacey and you always treated my son and me like friends when we saw you. Hoping you come back out to Brainerd Motorsports Park.
