Driving test in Houston, Texas (same in November 2023). See what you have to do and how hard, difficult, ruthless and tough it really is. Don't listen to anybody, just watch how it should to be.
I love these kind of instructors! I’m not even scared about the driving part (Well, except parallel parking) I’m mostly scared of the instructors being mean, or too on edge. I can’t handle that, and it makes me feel very nervous and anxious...
@@travisstroman-spaniel6091 I feel you. My dad although I love him to death and would probably kill for him, is a major hard ass on every spectrum when it came to him “teaching” me to drive. Had to learn myself by sneaking out late at night with keys.
That is also the learning part. You can hear what will they say to you. Better to be terrified than be sorry. Take it on this way- hard on a training, easy on an exam.
@@Sebastian-wr4ym I’m 18 but I believe we have the 6 hour drivers Ed and then the one hour impact driving video and answer a few things, I have mine tomorrow so I’ll find out then if I’ll have to take it again at the dmv
This was really helpful because I literally have to take mine at the same, exact DPS lol. The only thing I am worried about is parallel parking Update: I passed 🤪
@@but3795 Thank u so much this video was the reason I passed on my first try.. I knew exactly what to do and exactly what the person would be looking for.. 🎊🎊🎉🎉💯💯😉😉
tonypepperonio Can you please tell me more about how it went please. I’m in SA and I’m currently studying for the writing test but I am so super nervous about the driving 😫😫😫
Thank you for recording this video! I was able to practice the exact same streets for the road test. TIPS TO PASS IF YOU GO TO THIS ONE (they will take points off if you don’t do these) • when going to the parallel park make sure you PUT YOUR SIGNAL LIGHT • when coming out of the parallel park PUT YOUR SIGNAL LIGHT TO LEAVE • on the yield sign make sure you stop to look if cars are there • if you’re Turning right on a red light you are able to go ONLY on a RED LIGHT • if the light is yellow just slow down and stop. You do not want to increase your chances on running a red light • make sure you look at your mirrors when changing lanes and move your head too not just your eyes!!
Im scared shit less for this. A stranger in my car no music no nothing but straight up you and the car I’ve been avoiding scheduling my test for months
@@primoz9413 I ended up taking the test back in I think November I passed it on the first try but I had it taken at some office instead of the dps. It wasn’t horrible but still uncomfortable
I'm a Brit and have been driving for 15 years on a UK license, I moved to Texas a year ago and I take my test tomorrow. This video was really help with what I need to do! Thank you.
@@pinkysands yes I was really confused by the process to be honest. So I had to get copious amounts of paperwork together, including all my visa stuff, they then checked everything and made me do the theory test right there and then, I wasn't expecting that, I was expecting to have to book it later like you would in the UK. If you're successful on the theory test they book you for a driving test around 2 weeks later if you live in Waco, TX. I managed to pass on my first go, but my wife failed her first test because she did a rolling start at a stop sign. Let me know if you have more questions.
@Benjamin Kohlmann Like America, it is two-fold: the theory (knowledge test) and the practical (the road) test. The main diff for me was the seriousness with which UK tests are administered. The theory is mostly rote-learning: know road signs, highway codes etc and go there and take the multiple question. After you pass that, you can proceed to the practical, which around 45 mins driving with an examiner. It typically involves diff kinds of roads, speed requirements etc. There is set of criteria that you must satisfy in order to pass. There are actions (e.g. failure to check mirrors or overspeed) that are deemed "dangerous". Committing this is an automatic fail. Another diff is the cost: typically before taking a test, a learner would have taken at least 30 lessons. A lesson depending on where you live can be 25GBP (usually an hour). The test day itself can cost over 100GBP. All together it adds up so failing the test can get verrrry stressful. I thought the examiners in the US seemed rather friendly and eager for you to pass. In the UK, it is not rare to fail your test a number of occasions - what one must do to pass can get really elusive. I passed on my 6th or 7th and I have a PhD.
@Benjamin Kohlmann Haha, well actually, the UK test is ridiculously difficult, it about 20-25 minutes long, and a lot more stringent! It shows though, Texas is full of crazy driver! Lol
Exit DMV making right Right on Veterans Memorial Dr. light Right on Rainy River Right on Deer Trail Dr. Left on Peach Spring Right on Bunny Run Right on Gulf Bank Left on Veterans Memorial Dr. Left Dewalt St. DMV will be on right Good Luck Everyone! I’m taking mine tomorrow!!!
Took my test today and watched this video so many times. Practiced on the same roads and parallel parking on a weekend when they were closed. Thanks for the video, I was able to pass 😁
I just took my test today at this exact location, the route is a little different in 2023 but it was a very short, quick test. Thanks so much for this video, I watched it last night as I was searching RU-vid for real recordings of driving tests. They made you drive through a different part of the neighborhood but its very simple, just stop behind the line and things like that. Thanks again!
I’m taking the test at this location in December. Could you give a short rundown on how it was and if there’s anything different on the new route? Thanks in advance.
I took my drivers test today. In a car that I have a hard time driving in and Thanks to God I passed. She took a few points off because I was a too far from the curve when parallel parking, got in the wrong lane when turning, and did not look both ways. You guys got this make sure you are comfortable and drive for yourself and others.
@@daniellev7803 Yep this same location. I had a very nice tester she even told me to ask question if I have any. Do not forget to watch the impact video. You will need it.
@@daniellev7803 Yes it is the exact same. And if you have time I practiced the route a few times to make sure I already knew where I was going. Because some things look a little different.
Hey Asia I am also going to USA and I am nervous about driving test they did the same thing with you which they did in this video? I will be in Houston btw
Make sure to look left, right, and in the rear view mirror every single time you stop or turn. If not it's an automatic fail. They won't tell you this they'll just watch your eyes the whole time
Adding myself to the list of people who watched this video the night before my test. And yes, I did pass. To anyone reading this, if I can pass the test, I'm sure you can too :DD
This video helped me greatly and eased my nerves before taking the test at this DPS office. I'm happy to report that I passed last week. Thank you so much!
This is my second video viewing a Texas driving test in two different cities and both of these videos confirm to me once again that yesterday morning at the DPS in Waco, Texas I was robbed of receiving my driving license. According to the instructor that I had who I won't reveal her name said to me that "I did everything well except the left turn that I did when approaching the DPS office when returning from the road test, (according to her) I did it in the wrong lane. And this guy on this video had multiple points taken away from him and he didn't stop completely a few times at stop signs mind you and he still passed the exam and received his driver's license. WTF? Now, I have to take it again.
I teach Drivers Ed. In Texas. If you go in the wrong lane and don't stop completely you fail. You can also receive a ticket for going on the wrong lane and not stopping completely. But it just all adds up to who gives you the test.
@@DrivingCarey246 My argument is that these two men on these different videos had many other faults than I did and they still passed the exam, given the fact that the instructor I had said to me that "I did everything correct except." Its like saying to a student "you received a 99% on your exam but you failed." But, your probably right, it depends who is the instructor. Thanks for your comment.
@@hectorpayano2870 and that isn't fair I think it has to do with who giving the test. Not so much on driving skills. Such a shame. You will be a good driver.
@@hectorpayano2870 Some things will automatically fail you if you do them once. Then there are some things that they just take off points for. My guess is that you did something that automatically failed you that they consider a serious mistake.
I failed on my first attempt. I'm still learning English, just because I'm not fluent I was scared, when I drove I was freaking out. I wanted to make everything perfect, no mistakes, don't make that same mistake. Just do your best and always drive defensively. Today I made my second attempt, I was determined not to do perfect, but to just do the best I could, so I passed. Good luck, you can do it! 🍀😊 (Chewing gum helps with nervousness)
I passed my test today now I’m just here watching these videos the test isn’t as bad I was nervous not gonna lie but I was able to push that fear away and pass my advice is just relax treat it like you just picked up someone and your trying to get them to their destination
You probably passed by this point, but for everyone else reading this, go to your DPS on the weekends when nobody is there, and practice. That's probably a big confidence booster.
This video helped a lot ! I took my test at this dps and I passed on the first try with no marks even the lady told me that that was unusual. Good look to y’all this video helps !!
The mine is on march 22, I hope I'll pass it. Update: I passed!!! Super easy, my instructor was a chill woman and I was nervous but it wasn't difficult at all.
Took my drivers test today at this location & passed !!! … It’s the same route but don’t overthink it, you got this !!!! Take your time on parallel parking.
I really don’t why I’m watching this right now, I already took it and passed, btw this video also helps with the route and the route Is the same always, like the one time the lady told me left but I heard right but I had a gut instinct and took the left and I passed
I’m 22 been driving since I was 14 and been driving on a permit but I got stopped and I procrastinated and never took the test. When I took the test the instructor told me I was turning wrong. When at a light or stop sign I would turn into my lane(right side turn onto right lane and same thing for the left) but apparently she said I did that wrong
When I moved to Texas in 2000, Two lane rural roads were as follows: Illinois: 55 Missouri: 60 Oklahoma: 65. Texas: 70/night: 65 now it's Illinois: 55 Missouri: 60-65. Oklahoma: 65-70. Texas: 70-75.
I failed today for making a left turn (from a neighborhood)into a busy street (3 lanes going each way) and stopping in the middle( center lane) before I merged completely. Make sure you all go straight across and don't stop in the middle when making a left turn onto a busy street
Lol this randomly popped up on my timeline. I took mine 2 years ago in january at the same dmv amd we took the same route, but u had a different instructor. 😂😁🚘 I wanted to record mine for RU-vid, to show people in houston, but my camera was acting up. I could not find any good videos of road test when i needed it lol, but i did pass mine i got 3points taken off though.
I remember mine wasn't as long, I literally pulled out the DPS made a left on a light then another left drove through a neighborhood and that was literally next to the DPS went back and parallel parked I even failed but the lady still passed me
he drove good, I noticed some of the mistakes when I was watching the video and pointed out every mistake in my head, it wasn't perfect, but it was good enough to pass.
I've got my test in about a month- I'm mostly nervous about the parallel parking even though I've practiced it so much. I'll make sure to continue practicing up until I take my test but it's still nerve-racking haha
