For this Real Video, the Real Review we are featuring the 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. Recently, we looked at one of the Sonata's main competitors - the Toyota Camry Hybrid - and with that perspective this video review looks at all the details of the Sonata Hybrid and the more aggressive and sporty styling. In addition, we will cover the unique hybrid capabilities this vehicle has out on the highway with the slightly different take on the engineering of the hybrid drive system.
Join us as we discuss the current design, the excitement factor and day-to-day living with this top-of-the-line Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. Just over $32K and equipped with premium options like a dual panoramic sunroof and navigation, this vehicle might just make your 'must-see' test-drive list.

I have one of this. 62k, in Seattle, Wa. I love it, it's quiet, roads beautiful, spacious interior. I get 40 driving at 60mph. I will put it for sale in 3 months, anyone interested? :P

After watching and very carefully listening to the car, not the reviewer, this car actually sounds QUIETER than my 2013 Prius V package 5 with the Toyota's own very special and costly cheap pleather seats. Its interior noise on the road is very similar to my old 2008 Prius with the real perforated leather seats.

I don't drive faster than 55 miles per hour and I average 44 miles to the gallon.

Thats wrong. the "eco mode" is beside the engine start button and labelled "econ". the "blue" button on the steering wheel is just more active regen of the hybrid battery. It doesnt really effect economy.

I hear you and others speak of 37 mpg city but I have trouble getting better then 32mpg and even less. Not sure why and not much electrical use, always charging constantly switching. I do like my Limited Hybrid but a little disappointed in mpg. 6 speed rarely used and not sure the joys of those extras. Perhaps I need to learn how to drive this type of car.

I have had the 2014 model for three years which, is really the same car. Living in Los Angeles to get gas mileage over 35 mpg, I need to drive like a "great grand-dad". If, I use the cruse control for city driving it will automatically press down on the gas petal very lightly and according to the system inside the car my mileage jumps up to between 38 to 40 mpg.

Maybe you have a hard foot, meaning that you keep your foot on the gas pedal for all of the times you drive. If you have a light foot, the gas response would be light, so you would use more electricity to get better mpg. Or maybe its where you live and the way the terrain is formed. With hills or no hills.

@@transitengineer i have the hybrid 2011 so when in the city does it use mostly ev mode? Bc sometimes I hear engine kicks on every now and then

@@oceanbreeze685 I own the top of the line 2014, Sonata Hybrid in Jet Black with all the possible upgrades and options. Below 30 mph if, you have a very soft foot on the pedal it will stay on EV mode, from 35 mph to 55 mph it will use both the gas and electric motors, and on the freeway traveling below 75 mph when, you just need to maintain your current level of speed (i.e. 65 mph or 70 mph) it will mostly only use the EV motor. The best way to observe this is to go to the mode on the dashboard display that earns points for planets within our solar system. From watching the display you can see that, the longer you use only the EV motor the more points you earn.

I call BS on all 36MPG city thing, i have 2014 model, right out of dealership i had berely 20 MPG city, it gets better on the highway ,but so does the any other non hybrid car, i drove Toyota camry hybrid for a while, similar condition and driving style, you get 34 MPG city and little less highway driving, now thats how hybrid should perform. Sonata hybrid is very strange kind of car,i am guessing because of the very small battery capacity gasoline engine will kick in almost right away ones u hit the exelerator, it does not feel like a hybrid vihicle at all.
