Not many tutorials really show how the paints are mixed or watered down or show each step that is done which is really helpful when you are new to painting. So please keep this up this is great!
This comment made me think of that meme on how to draw an owl ("draw two circles ... then draw the rest of the owl"). It is good to see everything in real time rather than being told to do something
If you want a good dry brush ice tutorial in the meantime for Artis to finish one, check out Darcy Bono’s tutorial on it! She has a really simple but really awesome tutorial for some easy frost/ice effects!
Hi Bryon! What I like most about this format is when you make mistakes you fix them right in front of me. I love it when I watch content creators make and fix there mistakes. Helps me be less critical and it gives me confidence to push through!! Thanks great video.
Hi Byron, jut wanted to say your tutorials (and brushes!) have really made a difference in improving my painting, and sped up my processing by dozens and dozens of hours at this point. So yeah, just a thank you for all the effort you put into these.
I appreciate your approach. I just started painting miniatures this year after a long hiatus of just not having the slightest clue on how to really paint them. But the past 16 months have pushed me a lot towards painting in general, it's very stress relieving. Your videos are so informative, and just wanted to tell you I appreciate ya. I'm actually gonna try this one, great model, and a good lesson in lighting and highlights. Thanks again.
This is great. I’ve always been intimidated by painting flames but this looks like a quick easy way to do so, I might adapt it to make bluish purple flames
It's all about the steps here, with the colours barely mattering, good luck! Make sure to go to a deep blue/purple before the black, where I used mephiston+black you could mix it with black, it does a lot for the final finish :)
Very nice I hope one day I’m as good as you practice practice practice ,and your brushes hopefully will be blessed with your skills. I’ve just bought your full range. And lovely pallet 👍
Brilliant video, I liked the format even showing that Byron can make mistakes too but still come out with something jaw dropping. Looking forward to seeing more of the Grumpy Cabbage!
😁 thanks, man! I'd legit do it, if there were a model that that wouldn't drag on (could actually do an entire great unclean one in that time, I think, if I mixed airbrush, and brush brush)... Mhhmmm
This was wonderfully informative. Thank you. Really liked the format and subject. Only one change I'd want: if the audio was muted when using the hairdryer.
That'll be absolutely perfect dude, it's a super impactful model. Your could paint the spikes as if they're explosions being pushed out, so go to dark in the middle, and have the ends bright, like a little meteor :)
Plenty more to come, yet! Of course you are :D never a small one. We may actually cross paths on Khorne Deamons... I love bloodthirster and juggernauts, so mine'll probably be based on those, if I do one.
This was great! Would love to see you tackle a big vehicle in one take - something like a Kratos Battle tank or a Leviathan dreadnought. Otherwise, a big centerpiece character model - Teclis, Guilliman, Void Dragon, something along those lines!
I'd like to see a one-take video on the the Brazier-style Iron Halos that the Salamanders have, maybe on Adrax Agatone? He has a bigger one than the ones found on the Salamanders upgrade kits.
How about going for the opposite and doing something really small and detailed. I've got some Halfling faces at some point in my current project and I'm really not looking forward to trying to get that precise after doing the rest of the big model.
Mhhm, we're recording in higher definition now, and I am *slightly* better at not moving around constantly while recording, maybe this is possible :D. I'm also not too great at faces, so some practise may well be needed first!
Interesting! Don't know when/if i'll ever paint a fire elemental, but the knowledge is safely stored. :D As for "no cuts". Don't really care, as long as the video is clear/understandable. But, the more information the better. (: Also, really need to know how to paint white "ethereal/glowing wings". *pretty please* :D Maybe frozen ethereal wings? :D
Hey buddy, I *love* terrain, historically it's not something that does amazingly on RU-vid, which is a shame because it's fun, perfect for drybrushing, and people relax when they paint it, which helps loads. We used it on our intro to drybrushing guide for this reason. I have been thinking about a video where I paint a table of terrain though, and this could be perfect for it, or at least part of it.
Nice effects, I'll have to try it. A quick question. The 'upcoming' label, is that something done by RU-vid or do you add it yourself. Second only to irrelevant adverts (stupid algorithms), clicking on an interesting looking post and then realising it wont play for another couple if days is the most irritating thing.
hey there This may sound a little dumb But would you ever do one of these same sort of tutorials, but for blue flames? I kinda want to replicate this for an 3d printed explosion but I want to do it blue like Plasma instead of fire yellow
An airbrush won't do this, buddy, they're volume based, rather than texture-based. If I used one I'd use it to block out the first couple of stages, and maybe dusty black on tips, but I want the bits that stick out more to get hit more. Obvs airbrush is speedy, though!
