This is the level of detail I am aspiring to, but I am not quite there. What range of pens did you use for this? I noticed the 005 and 03. I only used a 01 on the piece I just uploaded which is clearly where I went wrong. My black is nowhere near as deep. This is and amazing piece. Thank you for uploading.

Super cool, but i still don't get it , how you can shade each little square and completely finish it before moving to next little grid square. Is your eye so well trained that you can unmistakably shade each little square on its own and at the end the whole picture's shade/highlight looks right? What is this approach? Usually artists draw the whole picture at once, but you're like printer - print every single grid square so perfectly, where's the catch? What's the secret?

Maris NI you divide up the photo you are copying, like in Photoshop you set a 20x20 grid layout on the photo, then you draw the same grid on the paper you're gonna work on (make sure the grid is the same ratio both on the screen and on paper). This way you can concentrate on individual parts of the image, and go through square by square, pretty much like a printer. This is a good way of copying images, even for line drawing.
