Not sure if you take requests, but I would love love love to see you do a disaster scenario with a bridge collapsing or earth quake with the ground splitting open.
He shouldn't, but it would be amazing. That soft tone of his going "and now I use X to simulate the blood spray and guts on the walls and floor. To make the skulls I start with X and add flames with Y."
I am not sure how this ended up in my recommended feed, but man you are amazing to watch. Such precise craftsmanship. Thanks for the videos, truly an artist.
I have gone back to model railroading after a 43 year drought( real life - LOL). Watching your videos gives me great ideas that I never had as a kid. My sincere thanks !!!!
Wow thanks Bob, it's really good to hear that even though you've been in the hobby for so long there is still plenty to learn, I hope I will be loving and learning new tips and tricks from others for as long as you have :) I'm sure you have a wealth of knowledge to share. Cheers Luke
An idea: would it be too hard to put canoas (or other boats) in the water before the acrylic dries, so they're a little bit sunken, and trace their slipstream? It might be cool to make the same thing with a pole, a dead three or a small pier, imo. Awesome job man, cheers!
SemmyRace yes this is easily possible with the right tools and if you were to attempt it I would recommend having a look at woodland scenics specifically
I feel like if I was making this video, my bloopers reel would be less "Accidental Finger Painting" and more "Somehow this Whole Thing Caught on Fire".
To see an artist at work is wonderful, but to have them so clearly describe their process is amazing. Shot and edited well, with good pacing (not rushed, not dragging). Delightful.
Thanks Carmine, I wasn't very good at dirt roads but after trying sifted dirt and highlighting with pastel I finally cracked it! Now I use that method for all my dirt roads! I'm glad you continue to enjoy the videos :) Cheers Luke
Luke Towan - And I will continue!! I never thought I'd be raiding my wife's dresser.... But, nylons actually WORK, as a fine sifter?? :O .... I was going to spend money I couldn't afford, to get some professional sifters. If this works, then stuff that idea!!
Man, you are my "Mr. Miagi". When life gets too stressful, I play one of your videos, and I'm back to center. I hope you realize the good you're putting into the world. I love your videos. Please keep them coming!
Luke Towan There are easier ways to do much of what you do and they look realistic. The difference is, your methods make for WONDERFULLY realistic scenes as opposed to moderately realistic. Just when I thought I knew it all.... good stuff man.
I found him in 2019. I found this video which is 4 years old. I noticed immediately how his techniques have changed over those 4 years and can see how much better he is now. So cool!
I have friends that are artists but could never play instruments. For me, instruments just came natural - but I always wanted to be able to do this stuff. I watch these videos in awe... how do you not shake and destroy your little models? The level of detail and talent is just amazing.
Don't know why these videos started popping up as recommendations, but they took me to my childhood. I've always enjoyed seeing replica landscape models whenever I visited the museum.
you are very professional i like these videos because there are some expensive railroad scenery but i know you put a lot of heart into your projects your model railway really inspires me thank you
Wow, stunning! Excellent thorough tutorial. Beautiful work. I haven't had a model railroad in decades but your video has pulled me back in. Subscribed!
ha ha, I make an effort to have clean hands when filming the videos. I find it distracting when I watch other modeling videos with extreme close ups of dirty hands and nails. Thanks for watching :) Glad you enjoyed the video
Words fail me to describe the level of patience you have to produce these absolutely stunning artworks. I do bare metal restoration on Matchbox models from the 50's and 60's and it has calmed me right down! There is something very tranquil about your diorama scenes. A little insight into local life. I don't agree with some suggestions that you produce a disaster scene. While I have no doubt it would be the bloodiest, goriest scene possible, I feel that your existing body of work encourages calm and peacefulness in the world. I subscribed some time ago and I enjoy when you release new videos.
you provide the ultimate in detail, explanation and superior modeling in my opinion. I appreciate the level of detail and thorough explanations you provide. no doubt, one of the best indeed. Dan
I love your work, you're a real artist ! Did you consider weathering the tractor and trailer ? Although it is feasible Mr.Farmer bought the machine brand new last week. :o) Still, beautiful beautiful work and when you add the natural light it's truly life-like.
lol, when I was making this model I didn't have any real experience with weathering but in future videos I'll certainly weather the vehicles, especially farm machinery. Cheers Luke
You're so good at making these little Dioramas, Do you sell them, or possibly even have someone tell you how they want it to look, and then you make it for them, at a reasonable price?
I get the same satisfaction watching your videos as when I watch Bob Ross. how awesome would it be if you recreated one of his paintings and brought it to life??
I was blown away by the detail and information you provide on this how to. Is by far the most detail video I've seen from anyone. It looks amazing Luke. Thanks a million for sharing your skills and ideas. Cheers. RT
+retrainrun Thanks RT, I really enjoy making these types of videos, I love to share the techniques I use. Its good to know a few people are enjoying them. Cheers Luke.
Exactly. Makes us wonder and imagine cool stuff, even if we wont make them. I dont even do modeling, why even watch? Its just fun, and knowledge doesnt take space.
JereFroFilms your not the only one who watches this stuff late/early, we all need to watch artistic productivity at times.......what am I saying I watch this day or night, it's just awsome
RU-vid is pretty amazing! It's never been so easy to find out information 😀 Pretty soon nobody will need to go to school anymore, they'll just log onto RU-vid!
This is just like the ant channel I watch, I have no intention to do something like this but Im still watching every video! Eventho this channel is a bit more interesting because i had a railroad with my grandpa that just died 2 months ago.
It is hard to find scenery videos that are as detailed as yours and also have such high quality results. You are very talented and I look forward to watching the rest of your videos. Thanks!
@@bloomingsmoke64 certainly how you end up in the ER 🤔😆 but I’d often say their name too if they sponsored my hobby for several thousand dollars a year!
man great videos! I am not a train or model enthusiast but the way you explain and work to complete these amazing dioramas is extremely calming for someone with ocd and anxiety. keep it up!
I'm just big fan of yours Mr. Luke, I'm from Bangladesh. I saw your many realistic scenery clips on RU-vid and you're awesome genius. Thank you brother
Thanks Jered, I just make them for myself at the moment. I might consider later in the future building custom models for people but right now I'm pretty busy with my day job which pays the bills, model making is just a hobby that I enjoy doing in my spare time 😊
Another great video mate. Your work is truly inspiring. I just finished my first scenery diorama following your techniques and i'm super happy with the result. When I first saw your work, i thought "man that would be impossible to get mine looking like that!", but the way you explain the techniques makes it very easy to follow and give a successful result right from the start. Well done!
+shannwah cool! I'm glad you got great results following my method. It truly is quite easy once you give it a try and you'll only improve on your technique from here. Cheers Luke.
I am pleased that my wife found your channel. Excellent videos and tutorials. I work in N-Scale however, I am sure that all of your material applies.....
Hi. I have a question. So are you building these scenes as additions to a functional model railway or are these just individual decorative pieces? Thanks for the awesome videos! Great work!
Okay, okay, I know this post is over a year old, but they are all just individual set pieces. It’d be hard to mix the Australian outback, a river and a gold mine together.
hey, maybe you can use sound-frequency to make the water have riffles like in real world. i saw that people make art stuff with it. water or sand on a plate that is on top of a hifi box. then the person puts different deep frequency sounds through it and with that you can control the shape. - sorry for bad english, im german
hmmm that sounds very interesting! I have a sub-woofer that's pretty big, I might be able to put my diorama on top of that as the water cures/dries and see if it works? Thanks for the cool idea :)
thanks for reply, i would apreciate it if you would try it and if it works to make a video of it, maybe its really a good workflow. wish you good luck! Luke Towan
Really handy techniques, thanks. There are lots of videos on doing water out there, but yours is a lot more informative and useful than most. Wouldn't have thought about avoiding brush marks on the stream bed, but it makes a lot of sense. And your other technique are interesting too. Only one point, sheep are generally a lot dirtier and browner, especially towards the rear end.
mate your video's are unreal, your crisp, clear, concise and to the point, your camera focus is top notch and editing is perfecto. I've spent my morning watching your video's and have built myself a wire tree so far!!
rhodel Ganaden The best ones by far. The moment it was digitalised to 'make it more realistic?????????' I hated it. How can you get more realistic than a REAL, even though a model, train?
Parents complained when it went all digital their kids did not like it either, Oh Lol another great Diorama, such a talent do you own a set up with full working trains etc or just the Diorama`s
ha ha :) sorry ;) You never know.... one day you might need to make a scene for one of your movies.... like they did for the original star wars movies :)
