Quality of Life is so much better in the states in my opinion. Even if I would earn less than in India, I live a quite, peaceful life with no constant chaos, better work culture, society not constantly judging you. I breath clean air, live near nature/ close access to lakes, hikes, etc and still get access to so many research as well as job opportunities. My kids will get free education till the end of high school + the education system provides a holistic development of a child rather than forcing a pupil to cram 10 pages and vomit the same on exam. It makes no sense with hundreds of kids suiciding every day from parental and peer pressure in India. What do you think Rajat?

in my view in laymen terms PPP is like if you earn money in INR you spend in INR, if you earn in dollars you spend in dollars is what i think i maybe wrong

The example with iPhone was invalid since it’s get manufactured there and the price is almost half there

PPP doesn’t work for luxury items. It is used for common used basket of goods. So iPhone is not a very good comparison.

Even if 100k usd = inr 23 lakhs then as a single right out of college student, you could save 15-20k usd in usa per annum which is same as what you earn in india

This only make sense if you plan to come back to India. If you plan your future in America then you will spend in dollars to. So this conversion will again not hold any value

I think it depends also on which city you live. If you live in a tier 2 city and make like more than 15 lakhs PA, then you can live like a king in India. USA u can buy good cars and house but that desi environment is what a lot of people crave

The irony is that many people who earns 6-7 lakhs INR in India goes to US and starts earning 80K+ which is about 10X increase so obviously it improves their standard of life. Many of these people will say quality of life is so much better in the states that salary does not even matter. However, people who are actually getting 30+ lakhs INR in India need to do a more nuanced calculations. I know many of these high earners who stayed back in India even when they have options.

education is free in usa upto 12 class and i n india approx per year expense per child for tution fees and coaching class including study material is approx 200000 inr so ppp is good in papers only

you are calculating wrongly as far as ppp is concerned. you are taking example also wrong. i phone is cheap in usa. 1000 usd is equal to 83000 inr. mcdonald example is correct. or you can take example of necessity items examples.

@@laxmi390 I would say it's more appropriate to compare cities/regions rather than nations as a whole when it comes to the big nations. Beijing , Mumbai, Bay area are full of opportunities which are not there in say mid eastern India, Midwest USA, or western or Tibetan china. Same for ppp. Earning 20lpa in a tier 2 city in india is different than earning tha same amount in a metro city. Similarily for tier 1 , tier 2 cities of USA or of China.
