Reality Steve (Steve Carbone) gets candid about the scandal surrounding his misogynistic behavior. We dig into it all: his past treatment of female contestants, the tone of his writing, and how he called Demi Burnett and told her about a graphic sexual dream he had that involved her. Was it creepy? YES! He admits it, and we discuss it at length. We also ask him about Katie Thurston's season -- what's the real beef between Aaron and Cody? And why is Karl so Karl-ish? Lastly, he gives us a tiny spoiler (at 24:00) about one contestant who will appear on Bachelor in Paradise, and we also talk about Chris Harrison's departure from the franchise.

I would just like to say, I appreciate the incredible women you two are. No matter the content of what you are doing, you remain very admirable in who you are as women. It's also encouraging to other women and young lady's how you choose to treat others, despite the situations or misconceptions that may come with it. All while remaining true to who you are, and that shows true character. Thanks for continuing to inspire me in growing, not only as a woman, but as a human being in general 🤗

What Steve Says About the Drama: 1. They (media) are having fun at my expense. 2. They exaggerated the story. 3. My mom agrees it was badly shared. 4. I didn’t know better. It was 2016. And it happened after Me Too movement. 5. I addressed the bad writing on my podcasts, but didn’t really think about it. 6. I’m grateful for the reality check, but I didn’t think about it because it was years ago. 7. I’ve changed 8. I’m going to stick to spoilers 9. I’ve not been affected by this monetarily 10. They will still all watch me for spoilers 11. What are you basing calling me a creep on? Do you know all the facts of what you are basing it on? I’ve changed. 12. My critics don’t know me personally. 13. It was a one-time incident. 14. I had never met Demi before when I did this. 15. Have done this with people I’ve flirted or dated. 16. I’ve involved myself with a women’s shelter in Dallas, I’ve deleted everything I’ve ever wrote, won’t write like that again. 17. My ex knew about it. I told her before I told Demi. I was dating someone at the time. One of the reasons I told Demi was because my girlfriend thought it was funny too. 18. Demi is loud likes to be the center of attention, but I’m not going to report on. He hasn’t apologized really, but kept saying how people who are reporting this is for “fun,” “wrong reasons,” because of Me Too. Maybe he’s changed, can’t see his heart, but seems like he’s still upset about being called out. Which I can see, but at the same time. It seems like if it is big enough to change for, it is big enough to apologize for?

This man doesn’t deserve a platform. He’s so defensive. He came off like a victim and blaming the old days of misogyny that he wanted to be with the cool kids. I’m sorry I am tired of so many people saying “Back then in 2016 we didn’t know, it was a one time thing. Blah blah blah” I know that Whit and Rye did their best to hold him accountable, however I hope they can slowly step away from the man as he hasn’t seemed to really change.

Yeah honestly if I did something like this and I CHANGED I'd address it very differently, and be so much more apologetic. Now, some people are defensive and not everyone knows how to answer to criticism functionally. Some people don't even have the emotional tools to be able to speak well about their mistakes. But I do wonder if he changed his language and stopped doing what he was doing (at least so far) simply because it clearly was no longer profitable with the way society has changed, as well as our rhetoric. I can't help being skeptical when someone is talking about it the way he is; his behaviour and language doesn't help me give him the benefit of the doubt.

This was a really great interview. Something about the way Steve speaks and the sound of his voice irritates me, so I am not a fan of listening to him but I am a fan of what you guys did here as two women, making him own up to his mistakes and having a tough conversation about the wrongdoings. All the lessons that could have come from the Chris Harrison situation will now be buried because of his settlement; so even though it's a different topic, what you guys did here was much needed. I can't imagine it was an easy interview to conduct, so a big round of applause to you two.

Great job Ladies on that uncomfortable interview. In my opinion the more this continues to be discussed, called out, and people then given the opportunity to correct themselves and grow, the better off we will all be. There are very few people who are beyond hope in being able to ‘fix’ themselves, so in general, we shouldn’t give up on them. But some do really need the big push to get there. The few that are beyond hope…. We will know…. it will be obvious. Thank you for this bold and fair interview! I think in 20 years it's a little late to rebrand the franchise. It's like the brand is aimlessly searching for a woke brand because of society. The bus left the station when Chris Harrison picked up his final paycheck. I watched since beginning with minimal changes but they are running fast and hard towards "SMUTTY". Its no longer about finding love. The seasons like Firestone, Sean Lowe, etc. Its gone south and all about Instagram followers, landing a job in Hollywood, starting a podcast, on and on.

This is so tricky to me. I feel like he was trying to call out the larger culture that promotes mysogyny and sexism. It did come off as though he was blaming to a degree, but I do feel like he has a point about the culture at large. Women have historically been objectified and haven't had a voice as we all know. I think he asks a good question. Why was his writing "accepted"? I would like to know how he plans to hold other men in society to a higher standard, if he has indeed changed. Men need to hold each other accountable. How is he going to participate in that part of advocacy?

THIS AN UNPOPULAR OPINION. As a woman I have been in uncomfortable situations too. I think we all (women) have. However, this interaction was over the phone about a stupid dream he had. I believe everything that Demi says about what happened and how she felt, but the bullying that this man is facing seems to me like a huge revenge from people in Bachelor nation. He over shared about his sexual dream, so let’s all make sure we humiliate him and make him feel like a piece of s***. Really? I think we are all better than that. Hey guys! I didn't click on this at first; for many reasons-- but decided to listen to 1 min. and then (of course) ended up watching the entire video. Thank you so much for doing a GOOD (and fair) interview here. Your questions and tone were perfect. I had followed Reality Steve for years (even attended his first Vegas bday party when he turned 40.)-- but really stopped interacting or regularly going to his site around 2016 (ironically, since that's the timeframe he notes as where his tone shifted.)-- I actually found that with the addition of his podcasts his pandering to contestants (in an effort to encourage guests I'm assuming) felt SO disingenuous from the person and writings he'd long established. I didn't want to read some ABC 'sanctioned' write up of a show or contestants; I wanted his perspective (minus the shaming and other aspects that I just wrote off as typical frat/ sports guy writing.) But once he wanted "Bachelor nation" approval, he clearly sanitized his overall tone and I found his podcast in particular unlistenable (is that a thing?)-- and I also stopped reading his site then too (also the popups on his site are next- level early 2000s and not fun to read as a result.) Anywho! I really love your youtube channel and reviews-- I'm glad to have found you both (for exactly what I used to get from Steve.. honest recaps (with added hilarity)-- it's just that simple.

Love your channel and your recaps, but I’m 10 minutes in and I honestly can’t stomach the rest. It’s the lack of both accountability and demonstrated growth he has, with a taste of gas lighting. I’m happy you’re not letting him off and maybe he redeems himself later in the video, but yeah my mental health first.

the franchise sexualizes its own contestants. he isn't apart of the franchise. if the people in the franchise care about women.... then why did they not denounce coltons actions when the story came out. People being upset that katie brought a sex toy "sex positive" saying its a family show but they don't bat an eye when the "favorite sex position" questions are being asked.. c'mon... so much needs to change in this franchise. Also no one on that show is there for the right reasons!

“I’m sorry” with a “but” isn’t an apology. Like everyone else is saying, he clearly still doesn’t understand why what he did was wrong. He’s constantly trying to shift focus to other people being “calculated,” etc. he may be taking baby steps in the right direction, but he’s still at the core unchanged. And as someone who used to read some of his page, even as recent as Matts season he was making comments about Michelle being a teacher and being sexual that really rubbed me the wrong way. He’s just learned how to fit in the language of the culture, I don’t believe he has changed. I appreciate Whit keeping him accountable with a few of the comments he was making and ways he was trying to turn the conversation to other people. BUT, it felt off in the same conversation to immediately shift to Katie’s season, after a conversation where he hasn’t really accepted accountability. I also wish Whit and Ry would have ended the conversation differently. To say “we were shocked, we never had that experience” also feels disjointed. I think there’s a way to say that (which is truth in their experience with him) while also acknowledging the lack of accountability and acceptance he showed, and end with acknowledging the victims of the behavior instead of ending with highlighting him and his platform both with the end of the conversation and with the end of the video itself. It was tough to watch

Great interview!! About Steve... If I did something like this and I CHANGED I'd address it very differently, and be so much more apologetic. Now, some people are defensive and not everyone knows how to answer to criticism functionally. Some people don't even have the emotional tools to be able to speak well about their mistakes. But I do wonder if he changed his language and stopped doing what he was doing (at least so far) simply because it clearly was no longer profitable to carry on as he was because of the way society (and our rhetoric) has changed. I can't help being skeptical when someone is talking about it the way he is; his behaviour and language doesn't help me give him the benefit of the doubt.

Love that Whit was candid and direct! However, Steve did not once seem remorseful! It was more of like, “I’m sorry I got caught” kind of attitude. He wanted to get back at them by saying, they had a “narrative” and “motive” but not once did he take full responsibility! And it wasn’t just the Demi thing, it’s what he did and said to Jenna and Jade! Idk, you ladies can obviously be acquainted to him if you’d like, but I can do without having to hear this poor of an excuse of a man ever again! The only reason I watched it, is because I really love watching your recaps and love you ladies, and wanted to know your thoughts about the situation. But honestly, I will skip future videos where you have him on as a guest.

This was a good interview ladies. You made Steve answer some questions. I used to read RS more after 2016, not as much before - but i do remember reading before and thinking this guy has calmed down and changed is style. I just chalked it up to it seems that he took the job a bit more seriously or maybe someone had called him out on how much fun he poked at the show and contestants before. I wish you guys asked him more about Tayshia as he did seem to go after her a lot and had her ex husband on his podcast. I think GS Joe was just trying to stick up for his cohost Tayshia in name calling RS, but not a mature move, but RS admitted he was not so mature himself. RS could have presented himself better than when he says Demi had "motivations" for coming out when she did. Also it makes more why Nick was so hard on RS when he was his podcast, "The Viall Files" Nick & Demi are good friends. Thanks for the interview though ladies!

He told a woman (he didn‘t know) about his sex dream? Is he out of his mind? Even if it is a some time ago. I didn‘t like how he handled all the situations, back then and now in the interview. He obviously does not have a feeling, ethically or morally, no compass for what is ok or not ok, and for his position and power. I choose to not look at and read his work anymore. Great interview from the two of you! You are very good in this.

whit and ry - I love you guys and your channel and I want to continue to support your Bach recap vids, but I would be remiss if I didn't say I was sad to see you guys interview RS. I don't think RS should be given a platform at this point after seeing everything he has written and the way he reacted to Chatty Broads making the OG video. watching through the video it's clear RS doesn't really 'get it' and while I understand he might not write that way anymore, he doesn't really take any accountability without also trying to defend his words. I will say, even though I'm sad you gave RS a platform here on your channel, I'm glad you give him some heat in this interview.

I judged Steve after I saw his girlfriend and how attractive she is(I don't know if they are still together). I thought, 'if looks are so important to him why is he so ugly'? He must see women as objects that have to be sexy to be valuable or interesting. But apparently he doesn't feel that men have to conform to that standard. Ewww I just got to the part where he says he told his now EX about his Demi sex dream. Yeah, I'm sure she thought it was real funny. Good luck to my husband if he wakes up tomorrow and tells me about the hot dream he had about someone else, and that he wants to text her all about it. yikes.

This guy still doesn’t understand nor acknowledge the severity of his actions. Just FYI he himself called out the chatty broads podcast and then people started sending them screenshots from his website. The bald-faced lie he told about not profiting monetarily off of what he did to jade and Jenna bruh go take a look at his website it’s literally flooded with ads. This is just bullshit. He shouldn’t have been a guest if you guys weren’t making excuses for him. Look at how defensive he got when he said that he’s not gonna report on Demi anymore, women speak up and then get punished, she complained about his creepy ass sexual dream and he said "oh well too bad for you I’m not gonna talk about you anymore" completely minimizing that what he did wasn’t normal reporting.
