LOVE the BACKING TRACKS AND SLICK TITLES KEEP IMPROVING EVERY DAY HELLO FROM ENGLAND OVER THE POND.KEEP THE SMALL TALK GOING WE WANT TO HEAR AND FEEL LIKE WE ARE THERE WITH YOU AND THE DOGS
Now everyone with an XJ wants to move to Utah and work for Matt. Bring their dogs to work and pull other trucks out and feel like a king about their XJ ‘s.
@@davidgates1122 I'm almost positive they just let him in (when he's going for a recovery)--the state park doesn't want stuck vehicles to remain stuck in their facility. The state park probably also admits law enforcement, municipal utilities (trash pickup, water, maybe sewer, etc.), and similar, under the same policy.
that's usually an option that comes with 4x4 for most brands. mine does have it being 4x2 but its a z71 package , my dads 4x2 work truck does not have them
it is a money game. By the time the car maker manufactures 250k vehicles and those tow hooks cost $10 each vehicle for materials and labor to install, you are looking at 2.5 million in cost. Compare that to how many of these vehicles actually ever go offroad and get stuck to the point of where those tow hooks are essential to their recovery (instead of using other recovery points on the vehicle), it is financially not worth it for the car makers to put them on.
They missed the money shot with the truck being pulled out of the sand. These early videos are so different from the later ones and interesting how they improved their cinematography and editing so much.
Wonderful channel !! Don't stop !! Between your videos and the Highway Thru Hell show from Canada on TV, I have little time for anything else. Fascinating career...new challenges with every call. Zero boredom ! And you get to drive to your jobs in awesome country. Keep up the good works !! And keep the puppies safe and happy too.
Back when I was young and dumb I had a truck that had lockers on the axles and I never even knew what they were so I'd get stuck and I could probably get myself out but I was just uninformed. Now I'm older and probably still dumb but at least I know about the lockers
Really enjoy watching your videos. You are blessed with a great family and great friends. Iv had Chevy and dodge 4 wheelers but not a jeep. Your rig and those ropes are impressive. .take care and keep on trucking.
Do you hook them on the control arms? Maybe you can show us how you it should be done without damaging suspension. I'm sure I am not the only one wanting to learn how to extract ourselves out if we need to.
Love your videos! Binge watching all day today! I like them because I rode a RZR all over the Sand Hallow, Coral Pink area. Yup, the soft sand can get you stuck in no time. I’m out of Las Vegas, Dunes and Trails ATV club..
Well done. I had some worries about that air dam but it survived. I have learned a lot from watching your videos. We have similar setups except I use my winch most of the time. One of the things I find strange is the complete lack of recovery points on these trucks. Nice black plastic covers where they were supposed to be on that Ford.
So, I feel like the next thing you need to put in the shop is an official soundtrack 😅 the music always seems to fit the setting and mood of each day and each job perfectly!
Those 4.0 liter inline 6’s are just so damn nasty. Bulletproof dude. We had one in our old grand Cherokee that was still running with well over 230,000 when we finally let her go to a new home. Great engine.
Yeah, the amount of fate he just tempted... I'm surprised his first yank didn't pull the whole back end off the XJ banana and send all six pistons and rods off into the brush.
Well, good video but I couldn’t see exactly where the chains were exactly hooked up to since the camera man didn’t stay with it. Just got a glimpse of it. 🤷🏻♀️ But I’ll follow the advice. Anywhere strong and sturdy.
Your sand must be a whole different animal than the beach sand around here. I see people stuck and the vehicles they're stuck in and I'm going HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU GET STUCK THERE?!?! My SUBARU would handle that, much less my truck! Then I see you and your Jeep have issues in the same terrain. Pretty obvious that your sand is a whole different level and while my truck might(!) do OK, my Subaru would become a land anchor in a hurry.
Yeah same here....I really enjoy watching them. I told and showed my wife what I was watching and she said how is that entertaining? They just don’t understand!
@@MattsOffRoadRecovery Ah, I was wondering the same thing. I was thinking it was to keep less of a vertical angle to keep pressure off the air damper as much as possible.
Been on a binge of your channel and man am I Glad you stopped using this music!!! Clampetts Take up towing!!!! LMBO!!! The way I see it.. if im ever in the hood and I get stuck....Ive watched enough videos to pay for my recovery!!! Stay safe guys!!!
I’ve heard that if you are stuck in dry soft sand and you soak each tire or in front of each tire with 5 Gal of water you could drive out. It’s been years ago but it worked on a stuck pick up.
Love these recovery videos! Very entertaining. What are your thoughts on using a shackle to connect two kinetic ropes? I’ve always been told and believed that it is very dangerous because the shackle would go flying if the ropes broke.
Matt's Towing & Recovery Thanks for the reply! I was just curious to see what an actual professional thought about the matter since most of the opinions I hear are from people without much experience.
@@MattsOffRoadRecovery There are a lot of RU-vid videos that talk about putting floor mats over tow straps to prevent injury should the strap snap. I think RU-vid viewers of off road videos have been brainwashed about the dangers of snapping straps and such. Thanks for your input. I trust your advice based upon years of experience,
Energy output is always equal to or less than energy input. Matt always applies the minimum force required to get the job done. Assess the weakest link and don't go above it. The weakest link in these situations is the customers vehicle.
i wonder if there was a way to stiffen the front suspension soley for when he's tugging on people, keep the front from bouncing up and down , then flip a switch and back to normal
Probably safer, but don’t know that I would trust them. I’ve used them on large sailing vessels and they were a pain to make sure it was set right. Also, their too darn expensive. I wonder how many kinetic ropes he goes through in a year.
I never understood why tow hooks are on the front of 4x4 pickup trucks and not in the back. If you're trying to pull someone else out, why would you be driving backwards to do that? 🤔
Why are you using shackle to connect two ropes? It's very dengerous. In case one of two ropes will broken the shackle will came to fly. Ropes can be connected without shackles.
I will copy and past Matt's privious answer to this question, He is asked many times, Matt's Off Road Recovery 1 year ago I’m really grappling with how to answer questions like this.(i’m getting a lot of them, and some of them have a lot more venom venom than yours) The Internet has made it sound like recovery ropes are poised to strike without warning. Me and 100 close friends have been doing snatch recovery for his long as the ropes have existed. I have never seen a recovery rope do the kind of damage that snapped chains and cables do. I love being alive. I spend a lot of time avoiding things that I think are going to snuff me out early. I feel confident and comfortable with my techniques, and practices. I have a lot of years, and hundreds of successful snatch recoveries under my belt. I have also witnessed many, many snatch recoveries. I try to learn something new from every single one. (I have seen at least a dozen ropes break, none of them made me fear for my life) That being said, I think improper use of recovery gear, such as I have, could definitely be lethal in the wrong hands, and in the wrong situation. Unfortunately, I can’t please everybody... I will probably just keep doing what I’m doing.
Isn't it funny that most 'off-road' domestic vehicles are not designed to go over much more than grass? Just expensive hardware store delivery vehicles.
A true testament of a product, I’ve liked mine this winter, with no breaks. Thanks is for the reply, great service all around as it seems. We enjoy the filmed recoveries. What a great time to be alive. God bless
Suggestion: get a drop hitch for a lower, clearance angle on the air dams. Should work front and rear on the Cherokee. Better yet, you can make one yourself. No tow hooks under those black plastic covers in the front of the 2WD F-150 ?? Bummer !!!
I thought Recovering with a pintle hitch is unfavorable ? from alot of videos ive seen. but your the pro, please inform me ive heard the bolts holding the pintle hitch in are the weak points
@@MattsOffRoadRecovery THANKS for the reply! I love what you do and that you film it to show how things can happen to people that don't always plan ahead. I hope not to call on you..LOL, but what are your RATES?
Older video I know, but I have to wonder if you ever just rib your customers real good from time to time. You're always so nice and calm and collected, do you ever get that guy that you know has a good sense of humor and just tear into him jokingly? lol
@@kenc2257 Chill. If it is one of Matt's friends, they are going to hear about having to make the call. In particular, Paul from FabRats got stuck in his work truck, and Matt made Paul the butt of several jokes.
