Great fit out of an iconic vehicle. Just a hint on suction cups. Don’t use saliva or water to lubricate the cups prior to pressing against the window. Use a light lubricant or cooking oil. Lubricants won’t evaporate as quick when exposed to hot vehicle inside temperatures. Of course suction cup sealing quality also has a part to play.

lol I remember my time in the old APC's. The priority was the cokking gear, coffee and the 10 man rat packs, not to mention the selection of sauces!

Going insane deciding between a 78 or 76. I like the idea of crawling on the back of a 78 in the advent of extreme weather. No dealer near me ever has a 76 in the yard to look at. I am single with dog so dont need much cargo. Do you think a 76 with resr seats removed could be slept in? Also i got that same tomahawk, Aldi special. It holds up great.
@Haveacrack76
@Haveacrack76 4 месяца назад
I think if you were intending to sleep in it at any point, get the 78. It was a tough call for me too. You could remove the seats, but its not a simple in and out thing.

Great vid - like button hit ! This is so relevant to me, as like you I am trying to use as much of the space I have - a current shape Prado which is similar size to the ‘76. Luv that drawer system. I would like to know who you dealt with at ORS = I have sent 2 enquiries and even visited their local (Melbourne) reseller, and can’t get anyone to answer or quote. Gotta agree with Kaon. I have a bit of their gear in my car and it’s great stuff. Cheers

Great vid mate. Tight for space... don't buy an FJ then! Great minds think alike... I've had 2 Pajeros and in the FJ I've got now... has ORS drawers in the back, Kaon Pet Barrier, shelf and Travel Buddy brackets, and of course the Aussie Travel Buddy. No probs in 7 years with the drawers, only problem with Kaon was a set of bolts missing which they rectified straight away, and the Travel Buddy blew the 'on' led light, and replacement parts sent in the mail the day I phoned. Can't beat the quality and service from those companies. I'm ex Aussie military too (Senior Service though 😉). Space on ships was tight also (more than a sub however!). And apart from the valuable spiel you provided... my other takeaway was... you've got a beard so you could at least look like a sailor! 😂😂. Nah, seriously, great stuff mate.... subbed. 🍻
@Haveacrack76
@Haveacrack76 Год назад
HAHAHA pretty sure all services allow beards now, some sort of retention initiative. I havent actually seen in the back of an FJ in person. I would have thought they were larger, obviously not! Thanks for the comment mate.

Your dead right about how small the 76 is, so friggin narrow, well after all, it was the original Prado, strangely the squared boxie body makes it look larger & bulkier than it actually is. I went from a Jackaroo to one, yes I desired one so much. I was so gob smacked my Jackaroo storage system couldn't be transferred in, so I developed an individual system for it. We weren't overly happy with the 76, so sold it off and went back to Jackaroo (awesome vehicle as it turned out in comparison), grass not always greener, aye. It was inevitable that one day we would have to update, but didn't want to make the same mistake, so set about choosing a vehicle that would accept our storage system. The LC 200 was too narrow internally, GU Patrol was shallower roof to floor height but same internal body width however barn door opening narrower than Jackaroo (now there's a vehicle that looks small but is actually really bulky inside). Well we opted for the Patrol, but I had to modify storage system to fit. Lost upper storage, drivers side slide in/out recovery gear, passenger side slide in/out 40l water storage. Aside from that, all good as I now know exactly where everything is (unless wife elects to change things up). Good storage system makes for a good tourer, that's makes for happy camper, that makes life a happy place wherever we end up. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

I had a Jackaroo ute some time ago. I rated it for sure mate. Im really happy with the 76 now I have it setup. I am interested in your water solution. What did you get for slide in / out 40L?
@ianweal3081
@ianweal3081 Год назад
@@Haveacrack76 I opted for a 60l water bladder that hangs on the front of storage system and hangs between it and rear seats. Fills the inverted "V" gap perfectly and bulges into any cavity of air space replacing it with water. Only negative, must be drained prior to unlatching rear seats, (60/40 split on Patrol) but I have no need to access that space now as it's fully occupied by water. You have your electrics behind your seat, so not an option for you. My electrical are over rear drivers side wheel arch, again on a slide out for easy maintenance, battery replacement. On the Jackaroo we had 60 litres as well, 40l filtered drinking inboard on slide out, 20l washing on rear door permanently. Was planning on duplicating that on the Patrol as well but when we got the Patrol and studied the rear smaller door hinges and mounts I determined I didn't have enough faith to mount water & muddy/garbage compartment off of it (approx 30kg) so I went for bladder and just designed my muddy/garbage & oil storage for rear door, 15kg at most.
