Yeah, I musta cut out the parts with the spray bottle. I use gas line and refrigerant leak detector for the lube. That helps a lot. Plus on the smaller 16'' ten ply tires I use Victaulic grease. THAT stuff is slick as snot on a doorknob !! Sometimes it makes the tire tools slip and slide. LOL

Yep, I'd say you got all out of the old tire that there was getting! Dandy job on the rim repair. We had an Oliver Super 77 Row Crop that I bought to resell. It was actually just to help a guy out that needed money. I often put tractors I was reselling out in the field to prove them before I sold them. Dad was discing with it one evening when the one rim just suddenly split almost all the way around. It didn't look that bad, but it was so thin around the inside it just split like a banana peel.
@tractorman4461
@tractorman4461 Год назад
When a tire is under a bit of a strain, there's a lot of pressure exerted on the rim. I have an Oliver 70 I had to weld in a 38'' patch to get it back in usable condition. I imagine if you were hooked to a set of 3/14's instead of a disc, it would've split sooner than it did !!

Hi Wendell… Aaaaaa the fun of changing a big tire… Like you I have done my share… I don’t think a lot of people would like my vocabulary while changing them. Hahahahah I did a truck tire once and I was very careful with the tube… ( or thought I was). Was all done had it aired up putting tools away and went back to mount it and Yup… Flat…. I cheated with this one Jeff. I edited out the part where I used the 4500 Ford hoe to break down the bead. Literally a couple minutes to break both sides....just that quick. Sometimes I use a ramp to drive the front of a tractor or my old 460 Ford onto the tire to break 'em. This one looked to be bad enough for the hoe....I cheated....LOL I've seen those bead breakers, but have never used one.

@@tractorman4461 I got a question for you I recently purchased a year wood cutting sound like you were talking about in the video that your dad used to sharpen the blade. Maybe that’s the video I am commenting on. Sorry. Anyway, everything seems to be in working order with it now I got the motor running old Wisconsin four-cylinder, and the belt turned out to be in good shape. The question I have is about the blade. If you could imagine instead of forward facing both side teeth, it has a triangle tooth and I have seen a couple pictures of those but this doesn’t have tips on it as in they look like triangles with out the top part I guess. My theory is that it was meant to be reversible. Obviously it doesn’t really make any sense for cutting. There is a slant on each tooth like you would expect there to at least be to cut on one side and every other tooth and then cut on the other side. Every other tooth obviously. I had to try to see if it work, and it would just burn through the word and I had to as you say crowd, the wood or timber Hill I had to mob it ha ha. Anyway, for all, I know it could be a homemade idea somebody came up with I’m assuming the guy that built the whole set up used it at least set up maybe at some point the league got changed and this is what I have today. Anyway, if that doesn’t describe very well, what I have, I’m talking about then I will get some video on my channel to show you. Thank you for your time and glad to hear you’re in good health.

I cut out the part where I cheated with the 4500 Ford backhoe. I set the hoe bucket on the tire and in seconds had both sides broke down. I used the teeth too because the tire was no good anyway. If the tires are good, I curl the bucket and use the rounded edge. Other times, I use a board for a ramp and drive either a tractor or the old Ford truck up onto the tire. That works well too Alan.

I haven't had the time to see if its a rod or main or how much damage was done. So it too is in the lineup for repair. Good old tractor. It's already .040 over on the jugs with standard mains. Had a sand hole in one of the cylinders. I had them bore and install a 1/8'' sleeve and bore that one to match the .040 over on the other two. Its on the list that's all I can say. LOL

Those 38 inch rear tractor tires are pricey new and difficult to find used. I cant find 12-4 or 13-6 38's so We have been using 15-5 on our M Farmalls. The bigger row crop tractors use that size. and they wear them slick. But they aint rotten so I can buy then. Not good for traction but they are Round and Black and hold air. Yep that fluid rust the rim's
@tractorman4461
@tractorman4461 Год назад
That's all I need...round and black and hold air. I don't do any farming and if I need traction in the mud or snow, I just add chains. LOL Tires are crazy expensive. I've got 15.5's on several tractors too. Most of them are 14.9 though. I got a few, this one being the last, at a farm auction a bit ago. They are dry rotted, but like I said I ain't working with any of them other than around the wood pile or grading the road. So a new tube and they are good to go as far as I am concerned. I do away with all the fluid as problems arise with the old tractor tires.

I'm not aware of anything specific Don, but I'm sure there is a softening agent of some sort. What's crazy is the chemical that minimizes damage from UV rays in sunshine has all but been removed from the tire manufacturing process. That was why the big push from tire manufacturers to have tires fail auto inspections beyond a certain age. Fortunately that didn't pass muster and there's still a small amount added to all tires with only a few manufacturers maintaining their tire production to the higher standard. Of course this is as it was told to me by a rubber sales rep that deals with many major tire companies. So I may not be relaying it perfectly correct.

Going to say something about that looked tiring. Or something about that old tractors not retired yet but it is on one rim. Some medical term my tubal ligation came to mind whatever that is. When I saw the tubes sticking out side of tire. But then I decided to be serious on my comment. It would be worth paying the guy the $50 special if you took the old Tire. But that's probably just labor. So you'd have to make a couple of runs or Pay to fix the rim as well. And he would probably want to sell you his own tube instead of you buying cheaper offline. But then military surplus paint. I'm sure she's known to cause cancer and at least California 🤣. I'm pretty sure that doesn't make it a Weld racing rim! So much for being serious. They used it on some early 50s Chevys for example. I want sprayed a pickup bed trailer with it. For couple of decades you can literally throw a rock at it it would not leaving mark on the paint. But that stuff is so bad for you. We still have the pickup bed trailer out in the farm but it has worn a little bit. That trailer is set out in the open. It is sit under trees as well. Since it was sprayed about 1990 it's life never did get any easier. See we didn't use that much and still had the third member in it and it's kind of low gear. So polite bigger flatbed trailer and still have that thing grabbed your back. But I mean the rock just bounced off that paint. The guy at the parts store gave me to paint and for $5 so me everything they need to mix it because he wanted it off his shelf and it was illegal for him to sell it anymore when I bought. He said that it said nothing about giving it away. So you got the idea 💡. That's just your seat your lungs out. It was a smallish response ever and it should have been better than that. So we took it down. It wasn't the best production that we've had but still if people aren't interested then I'm not going to leave it up there. I do have some interest in numbers of production. On a side-note on another channel I just spent about an hour on a well-crafted many many points covered response. And that response was rejected by RU-vid as having invalid point of argument. But the guy from Africa can lead off by saying us and NATO have killed millions. He was responding to me on a prior posting. Not only do they let his posting go through which is an error on it body count. It becomes a highlighted comment.

Having done my fair share of tractor tire work I have nothing really to add or ask that doesn't fall under the heading of personal preference...but I do have one nagging question. How many cats have you thrown down a laundry shoot and why???

Hahahaha....good question. When my son was a little guy we would act like we were tossing his sisters cat down the chute just to watch the cat turn into an uncontrollable spring !! All good fun for a dad and his boy...no cats were ever hurt nor did the daughter ever cry. LOL Yeah, we both had some good scratches though....

@@tractorman4461 I remember as a young boy thinking it would be great fun to put one of our barn tomcats in a gunny sack...the cat won! Never tried that again.
