I realize this is an old video but I just wanted to say thanks for posting this! I have a small mirror on my gravel/adventure bike, first time I've ever used a mirror, and I will never go back. I've been looking for a couple weeks now for something unobtrusive to use with my hardtail MTB, which I do ride to the trailhead. There's not much out there at all, and this seems like the most reasonable and practical. I love the idea of not having something mounted permanently on the bike. So thanks again, great review!

I bought my some time ago, and try to use it each time when I ride with my bike group. We ride on the rail trail. Works really well. Gets a lot of questions from the others in the group. Thanks for the review.

Clint: don't diss the helmet mounted mirror cyclists. Remember what this and similar products are for: keep you out of harms way from automotive traffic. If the helmet mounted mirror works, good for the and their families! Otherwise, great short review. Just got the same mirror. I am trying out handlebar mirrors vs this product you just reviewed. I like your videos because your are well informed and you care about your viewers. Please be your great and caring self... Ryan

Ryan Tracy Where I'm from, helmet mirrors are a big no-no amongst the cycling community. In case of a fall you don't want a stick right next to your eye.

Really good review. Thank you. Currently I'm trying to get used to a helmet-mounted mirror, and it just isn't working for me. It's like looking at the world through a keyhole -- a keyhole that's constantly moving around. This might be better. I'm 77 and just getting back into cycling after not riding since 1975. I can't do head checks anymore, and I've got to get something that works.

Wow! It's very nice to hear that you ride at that respectable age! Just be careful, I wouldn't want to hear that you got into a crash.

Clint - I've been watching your vids for a while, subscribe, and find the advice always well-considered. I recently bought the Rearviz Classic - then found you had done a review of it. So far, I like it pretty well. The runner-up (in the same price range) was a helmet-mounted system with an articulated, multi-joint arm that supposedly held its position well and mounted with zip ties rather than glue. It is taking an effort to be used to wearing the Rearviz (most effective position, etc.), but it does do the job well. I might prefer a somewhat larger mirror and/or a brighter finish, but I can see cars approaching from behind without cranking my head around, which is my main concern. I'm 60+ and back to cycling after 30+ years with a nice Christmas/retirement gift bike from my family. In the old days, and my old road touring bike, I had drop handlebars and a mirror on the brake hood that worked very well. And, I believe, the drivers were less aggressive and/or maybe I was less skittish, LOL. The new bike has straight handlebars, and finding a good option for a mirror was a chore. Also, I'm on the road less than on paths/trails, and I am a good fit to the "ride the bike to the trail" rider profile you mentioned. So far, the only substantial complaint I have about Rearviz is that they need domestic (USA) distribution. I ordered online, and it took Australia Post 3+ weeks to get it here. Thanks again for your reviews and posts.

Great review and nifty product indeed. Totally love mine. I commute quite a bit and this little mirror contributes a great deal to my personal safety on the road. I've not tried a bar end mirror but I understand vibration could be problem whereas the wearable mirror does not pick up any vibration. I support Clint's recommendation.

Check out this mirror. It's the best bar end mirror I've found and vibrations do not affect it very much ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KrvzbHPXxKc.html

Thinking of getting one for kayaking with a group. Always so difficult to turn around to make sure everyone is ok. Our group has been looking for a mirror to attach to our boats, but wearing one on our arm would be better!

For the price, they could have put a compass instead of the colored (yellow) area

I'd like something like that for my road bike if it strapped to the drops where I almost never ride but I don't think I'd like it strapped to my arm very long. I do think a mirror is very important for riding on the roads nowadays with all the distracted drivers. I'm gonna get one of the bar end ones you showed. I once bought the Italian Racing Mirror for my road bike and it was too small and difficult to adjust. Thanks for this though. Hope they make one with a rubber strap like a lot of smaller flasher type bike lights have that strap onto you seatpost or frame. That would be ideal. Looks like a great product if you don't mind having something strapped to your arm.

there is a radar thing from Garmin if I remember correctly, to monitor traffic behind you. Of course is a bit of an overkill compared to a mirror but it saves you the hassle of carrying extra stuff on you.
@NeoDerGrose
@NeoDerGrose 7 лет назад
That's right , and it doubles as a rear light. You could watch what it detects on a special head unit, a normal Garmin head unit or even Garmins head up display.

Great video the mirror not so much LookInBack is better. Sorry but to made a mirror work like that .You need to take your hands of the left side of the handle bars . I tried everything and I made it work. If your worried about using it on a bike try recumbents, Inline skaters, roller skaters etc.

i have a similar rearview mirror, but mine is made out of fabric, and it's way cheaper, which of course the rearviz got the better build quality but mine has a better view, but if rearviz make a version where the mirror, just the mirror spin 180 degrees and have a little pocket for money, it would be so much better

I'm not fond of the convex mirror . You think there are no cars and then one fly's by. Dark cars don't show up well . Cars are closer then you see in the mirror . Some cars blend in with the road . I think I will try to mount a normal mirror in it's place . I love the convenience and the design but hate the mirror !! I feel if you have poor mid range vision it will affect you're view .

OK I will probably be the odd man out here. I treat riding my bike on the road similar to when I did Track days on my GSXR...I do not think these mirrors are going to save you from a car hitting you. The helmet mirrors I think are a huge distraction. I just really dont get why you need a mirror. As long as you have the right lights so you can be seen I am good to go. Side note Clint...was your SV650 Blue and Black? either way it is a good review.

A lot of us ride on bike rail trails, not the road. There the mirrors come in very handy, specially if you are riding with a bike group.

+Shredn' Tread I've actually had several opportunities to move off the road when I saw a car not clearing me like I thought it should. I had a red sv650, a silver one with a half Fairing and then a blue one.

RearViz lets itself down with lousy magnification. It's ~⅓ that of a Zefal spin mirror. Ya want objects to loom large, so you can see them at a glance. Very disappointing. Still, mustn't blub.

for fashion's sake don't wear a helmet mirror? Who cares about fashion? I want the best view and I don't like that business of seeing half the mirror case in mirror circle.
