As a Black Hippy/TDE fan since 09 Reason was one of the few artists on the label I never connected with when it came to his music. Then over the years he’s made some head scratching comments that had me wanting him off the label anyway

Reason can make good music all day, but if it aint GREAT or if it doesnt resonate with the people, thats on him.....not the label. Reason just hasn't made a song that is loved by a wider audience. Alot of times his music sounds as if he is just rapping because he can, but not writing music with a purpose. For his style, he needs to be saying more that people can connect with. The proof is in the music

Now maybe Top can focus on Q, Rock, Soul, SZA, Zay, SiR & Ray Vaughn

I am not a reason fan he is cool, but in 2018 when he was signed to TDE I was like that was a dumb move by top dawg lol, Top Dawg had so much talent why not just focus on them and wait until it died down and sign someone else and plus TDE fans never liked Reason from jump so it was just a mistake and it remind me of when Wale signed to MMG but the big difference is Wale made it work, where as Reason just wasn't connecting and people didn't like him anyways.

I think Reason needs to do his own thing like Freddie Gibbs did after leaving CTE. I think this split will be a good thing for him as well as TDE. I agree with Joe. He needs to go to Empire or Stay independent!!!

I just listened to The Soul (intro) yesterday and I was wondering if he was still on TDE and thinking of how DOPE that track is…I do think maybe something independent would be good to build up a bigger following and gain some momentum but I’m not mad at Dreamville at all if that were to happen

I was always very hesitant to listen to new TDE artist over the years. After the main group of Black Hippy, Isaiah and SZA were established. I remember always seeing Reason name and just thinking, nope yall not forcing this lame artist on me just because he's TDE lol. Then I first heard that song he did with AB-Soul back then and I mainly only listened because Soul wasn't dropping much back then. But ever since I really appreciate his music a lot. It's helped me get out my mindstate and give more artist an easier chance to listen to. Which is how I became a fan of Ray Vaughn music, quicker than I normally would. I rock with everyone that's been on TDE. Only person you can't convince me on is Zacari, that's not my vibe or wave at all.

Reason got signed at the wrong time. Never had a chance because Dot was peaking and SZA got the rest of the focus. He stuck it out as long as he could. Trapped in and Flick it up coulda been huge but they hadn't pushed Soul enough, domino effect
