Complete and utter nonsense. Get over yourself. The world recycles itself all the time: Great songs and tunes. The Beatles and the Stones started in the same way. Rod Stewart makes a great job of every song he sings. I call it paying homage.
Had the pleasure to meet Rod in London at a pub. I am a professional bass player. The nicest most down to earth person who would laugh and drink a pint with you or anybody. I thought it cool because many locals coming and going from the pub, yell out "Hey Rod". Seemed like the locals all knew him.

I will say this, this song is good in any performance, but Sir Rod Stewart performed it in such a way that it became wonderful. With his performance, he changed her mood, he filled her with his energy and she began to play with new colors.

The best. I was the financial controller of the arena in Edmonton and I met him. One of the boys, everybody loves him. Just a great guy who doesn't think he is better than anyone else. A class act who loves his country, his music, his fans, his family, and his football team!

I listened to the original Tim Hardin version before I listened to this one. That of Tim Hardin is that of a broken man who concedes, who's actually gutted but takes it anyway. This Rod Steward version... same song, same words, but.. Festive, glorious, free, energetic! The feel is totally different. Rod did a very good job. This alternative interpretation opens up different emotional avenues, light, festive ones. Tim's is gloomy, but... feels more... trusted. We all have been there, and felt he same, gloomy aquiscent way. I like Tim's more, but respect and admire that of Rod as well. Both artists... chapeau bas.
I am also familiar with the original version. I call Rod's version, the "narcissist version" . Lol it's upbeat, lacks heartbreak (pain) I actually like it better than Tim Harden's version.
