My grandparents on my moms side of the family had a Golden Retriever named Lacy. She was the sweetest dog I've ever met and whenever me and my family went to visit my grandparents, sometimes Lacy would basically trap me in a corner of the kitchen and stand in front of me like she was protecting me from other people. She wanted me all to herself and she'd even let me use her as a pillow on occasions. She was such a good girl and I miss her very much. She died due to old age.

Yep. Agree with you. I still miss my first GR Sepp and had 2 Golden mix dogs after that. Also adorable and like GR in temperament. They became 15 and 16 years old. Never better dogs. I'm too old for a Golden pup now, but they are still the dogs I love best❤

Our Ortley, cream golden, is very much like Sterling! In fact, our son, just moved home, unexpectedly temporarily, so I began calling Ortley, Sterling Underpants!!! 🩲🧢🧦👟 He is VERY proud of his ‘find’ from Ian’s temporary bedroom (our living room)-lol. Just began making Ortley wear his FIND! Too Funny 😁!!! We love Sterling and your wonderful family. You have set a good example of how to All participate in taking care of your pet! Sterling is a great family ambassador for how to behave around children/people and vice versa. Great thanks Doris and Dad! Well done 👍, Love, lady di, Ortley and Pumba 🦮🐕‍🦺🐾❤️from NJ

Golden retrievers are sociable dogs. They love parties and greeting visitors with a hug or a lick on the hands.. my son's friends kissed and hugged our GR everytime they come to our house. I was laughing because our GR havent taken a bath yet

Agreed 100%. I love most dogs, but Goldens have that certain "undefinable" thing that makes them special. "Labs" can have it, too, but I think Goldens more often embody it. I don't think I've ever encountered a Golden on the street that didn't immediately want to become my new best friend! They do that "lean" into your leg that just makes you melt.

Everything is so quite true. What a pity, in the good meaning, I live in a small apartment (only small such as shitzu e chiuaua or pomerania are permitted) in which a golden wouldn't stay well. They need open spaces, running, water and so on. How I would like to have a golden. As a matter of fact, not to say that the others are not good, but your first love is always your first love.

is a shame they are so expensive. Breeders charge over $5000 in australia and they are very rare at the moment with long waiting lists. It's a real shame because they are THE ideal dog for families or people that otherwise aren't dog lovers. Instead people get mixed breeds or breeds that aren't suitable for their circumstances and people go their whole lives without knowing the kind of experience THESE dogs can provide.
