I am currently a senior in high school and I started reffing as soon as I could as a Grade 9. Now I am on track to be a regional referee (grade 5/6) by 2021. I know that’s a little bit quicker than most people, but the opportunity for advancement is also another great thing about being a referee. I am only 18 but I am officiating the most competitive youth soccer in a significant portion of the country and to think about that is kind of crazy. I plan to continue at least to officiate the MLS eventually. Regardless, I think it’s awesome that you’re encouraging people to get into officiating!
This week I looked back through my season pay, I’ve been reffing for 3 years now and the least I made was 37 dollars for an hour game. I did 150 games this last season. It’s the easiest job in the world
